Intro:
Cougar fight action as both Stana Katic and Gabrielle Union look to settle a score and get back on the winners path, Stana of course made her name on the Detective show "Castle" till recently, Gabrielle Union meanwhile works with Jessica Alba on "L.A's finest" as a bad ass cop, whose the toughest between them?

Well both were interviewed by Layla Anna-Lee in the build up to this fight in the backstage area, Stana was first up wearing a white blouse, blue jeans and black heels, she nods to Layla as she looks all business, losing to Joanna Krupa last month still seemingly playing on her mind as she admits when asked about it "yeah Joanna was too much too soon for me, she beat me but I hope I at least showed something in that fight to show I am going in the fight direction" her jaw looking tight showing it still bugs her.

When asked about tonight, Stana answers "well I was going to challenge Gabrielle earlier but I felt I was moving up the cougar rankings well, so instead I looked past her, guess I am still learning and Gabrielle will make a good opponent, fact she wants to make more of this then it is for me is her business, when I step into the ring with her it's all about winning for me" Layla nodding in reply.

The final question is about Charlize Theron and specifically it looks like she will need to wait till next year for that to happen, Stana smiles for the first time, answering with "well I have all the time in the world, I have made it clear since day one that's the fight I want, I'll even let her select the stipulation or the venue, whatever I need to do so I can kick her ass, I am going to work my butt off the next twelve months and hope she doesn't say that I need to wait another twelve because then we won't make it to the ring, I promise you that" Stana marching off looking in a foul mood tonight.

Something seemingly shared by her opponent tonight, Gabrielle wearing a black tank top that shows off her abs, black jeans and shoes, she tells Layla "I have been calling this bytch out for months and now here we are" pointing at the ground as she is fired up for this fight.

"I was at her debut fight against Cindy (Sampson) and was ready to fight her then, she didn't impress me one bit, she knows that I think she is a coward and now I get to lay my fists on her, she can chase the fantasy of Charlize all she wants, first she gets beaten by me" continues Gabrielle, fists clenched ready for this fight, she leaves as she seems to have made her point, Layla looking a little wide eyed knowing these two aren't going in with kid gloves on.

Fighting time, first through the curtain comes Stana with her coach, she heads down the aisle nodding to her fans cheering her on, she is wearing a red sports bra with white trim, matching trunks and shoes, white gloves, while her hair is in a ponytail, she climbs into the ring with a nod to her coach as she is told to make this win number four.

Here comes Gabrielle banging her black gloves together as she walks down the aisle, she is wearing a black sports bra, trunks and shoes, hair tied into a braid as she climbs into the ring, telling Stana "nowhere to hide now bytch!" With Stana waving her to bring it on, Gabrielle's coach reminding her to keep her cool, use her experience and beat Stana.

Referee waves the fighters to the middle of the ring, where they lock eyes with an intense stare, the crowd whistling as both look in great shape, when asked to touch gloves they quickly swipe them together, more keen to get started as they return to their corners, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.

Round 1:
At the bell Gabrielle is straight on the inside to bang in a few crisp body shots, Stana needing to use her left to give her a little shove to open up space between them, with Stana then landing a double jab to the face of her aggressive opponent as she steps back out the way of a left hook.

After a good back and forth in the opening forty seconds, Stana starts to get her opponent under her thumb by smacking her with simple one-two combos, moving to the side then landing counter punches as Gabrielle keeps stepping in with hooks that miss wide.

A straight on the chin knocks back Unions head, a left cross turning it to the side, Stana now backing up her foe to the ropes as we now enter the second half of the round, sending in hooks when she sees an opening to make Gabrielle groan out, the crowd yelling "f**k her up!" As they smell an opportunity of an early knockout here, Gabrielle disappoints them by grabbing onto Stana in a clinch.

Once apart Gabrielle is working more from behind her guard, Stana having a harder time breaking her down, but looking comfortable as they head to the bell, a straight slamming into the belly button of the black woman is met with a left cross to the cheek of the white one, when the bell rings Gabrielle showing she still has fight in her as she stares hard at Stana, who doesn't pay much attention as she looks happy with how things went there, jogging back to her corner nodding to her coach with a grin.

Round 2:
Stana starts off peppering the face of Gabrielle early with her jab, already there's a little swelling forming around the right eye of Gabrielle, who isn't giving up the ghost yet as she starts to move her head a little more, stabbing in jabs of her own as her coach had a firm word with her during the break.

Maybe Stana showing some laxness as she misses with a straight, Gabrielle ducking under it to bang in a left hook under the ribs, then lands an uppercut on the chin of Stana to knock her head back, with Gabrielle driving back Stana with a flurry of punches, not all landing, they are doing the job of herding the taller fighter near the ropes.

Where Gabrielle is certainly having more success now, looking to the body as she has Stana not as keen to open herself up now, Gabrielle taunting Stana as she asks "not wanna throw a punch there?" Tapping her chin with her right before stabbing in a jab to the chest of Katic to make her groan out.

Final forty five seconds of the round sees Stana come out her shell more, catching her opponent with single straight or cross punches, Gabrielle snarling when she is hit, almost annoyed when she does as she throws in hooks in response, though they are being blocked more as the round comes to a close, a solid response from Union as she marches back to her corner.

Round 3:
Gabrielle looking to have renewed confidence as she steps back out, trading with Stana more often as both women look like they want to earn their opponents respect here, a wayward right hook by Union though leaves her open, a left hook across her right eye looks to have opened up a cut above it.

Moving back feeling her eye and seeing the blood now, Gabrielle looks tense now as Stana comes in to rifle in punches, smartly the Canadian fighter isn't going always straight for the cut, banging in body shots as well to open up the guard of Gabrielle, who starts to swing in more wild hooks trying to even the score with Stana.

Past the halfway point in the round, Gabrielle is wiping at the cut with her right glove, getting distracted by it as Stana is picking her off at range, a straight hits Gabrielle square on the nose, then a left hook around that busted up right eye has the American whining, FINALLY AN UPPERCUT LANDS FLUSH ON HER CHIN! DOWN GOES UNION ONTO HER BACK WITH A THUD!

Stana jogging to the neutral corner as the crowd stand and cheer, 1...2...3...4.. Gabrielle turns her head to the right, spitting out her gumshield as she lays spread eagle, 5...6...7... Beyond that she isn't moving that much more, 8...9...10 that's it! It's all over!

Winner Stana Katic KO Round 3

After:
Stana kicking off the year as she means to go on, she turns to the crowd with a big beaming smile, arms in the air as she takes in the cheers from her fans, then jogging back to her corner to be met with praise by her coach for a clinical performance tonight.

While Gabrielle is slowly helped to sit up after being checked on, the ringside doctor checks her over, with Gabrielle nodding she'll be OK, she is led back to her corner to get her cut patched up and her face washed down with the place she was laying having a small pool of blood to show that wasn't a small paper cut above her eye.

Over comes Stana after both have their gloves removed, they might not like each other but they shake hands to show they do respect each other, Gabrielle nodding to Stana as the winner heads to the middle of the ring for the final result to be announced, for Gabrielle it's time in her mind to leave as she stands up with a little help and steps through the ropes, probably wondering if this fighting is still worth it for her.

In the ring the spotlight is on Stana as she gets her left hand raised in victory, she flexes her left arm with a warm smile aimed at her fans, once that is over she poses for the cameras with her fists raised, maybe thinking about a certain Theron again.

For now though it's out the ring and to the back for a massage and victory drink, Stana waving to her fans as she heads off, if she wants her dream fight then she needs to keep building, this is fight number five for her and starting late doesn't seem much an excuse for a cougar fighter.
