Pre-Fight:

There’s a fair bit of hype around this one… Megan just suffered her first ever loss to the towering 6’2” Robyn Lawley earlier in the month, but was previously undefeated at 4-0 with an impressive win over a top-ranked Welterweight in Hilary Rhoda. Iskra meanwhile sports an unbeaten 5-0 record with a pair of very impressive wins over Jennifer Lawrence and Sabrina Lynn. The winner of this fight would be making quite the statement in hopes of joining that elusive Top 10 Welterweight ranking.

Iskra is asked about dealing with someone who is a ‘complete package’ in terms of power and speed, “To be honest I don’t see it being an issue. I’m stronger than her. I’m faster than her. I’m tougher than her. I truly think between Sabrina and Jennifer I’ve beaten two fighters better than Megan already. So once I give her loss number 2 hopefully we don’t hear as much hype around her anymore. Because the hype should be going to me instead.”

Megan when asking how she can bounce back from a loss, “I get motivation in shutting her up. That’s how I’m gonna bounce back. Robyn is ten times tougher than her, so it’ll be a huge step down in terms of how rough I’ll have it. Watch, I’m gonna set off some damn fireworks tonight!”

R1:

Two of the more physically impressive welterweights come out of their respective rings, hands drifting just out in front of them, bobbing up and down. Knees slightly bent. The look of determination is splattered across both faces. Iskra throws the first jab and it is on.

The blonde’s jab gets blocked, but so does Megan’s counter. The two circle around each other, tossing some fairly benign jabs. Clearly they each want to see what they can get away with early, but in a fight between fighters of this stature sometimes it pays to be bold. Iskra presses the issue, coming in and blocking a couple of jabs that Megan throws her way, then she gets in tight and lands a nice right hand to the stomach. Megan is taken aback so Iskra presses some more.

She throws a couple of smooth one-twos which serve to back Megan up some more. The power of Iskra shines through as she does enough to bully Megan back near the corner. The bell rings before any significant damage is done, but it’s clear to all who won the round.

10-9 Lawrence

R2:

Iskra continues to control the pace of the fight. She uses her jabs to keep Megan at bay. The GBS girl looks frustrated and decides to do some pressing forward of her own. She lands a nifty little uppercut that backs iskra off of her. Then it’s time for Megan to score some points.

She hits Iskra a little bit harder than the blonde hit her. A nice couple of rights to the ribs/abs and iskra is wincing. It’s clear Megan can make her opponent hurt, but can she put her down? Iskra does a nice job of covering up for the majority of the round and she doesn’t let Megan land anything super big. She even lands some nice counter-jabs to make the round look closer.

19-19

R3:

Megan lands a jab-uppercut combo early that looks particularly nasty. It’s enough to make spit fly from Iskra’s mouth and make the big blonde stumble back. Iskra gets rocked by a right hook and has to simply tighten her guard. This allows Megan to bang her gloves around the side of her arms and body. Still, Iskra doesn’t want to take another chin shot right now, so she takes the abuse elsewhere. Larence is able to escape, but those long arms of Megan continue to fire off jab after jab that cuts through the defenses.

Iskra has to use some nifty moves as she dodges a jab and counters with a straight right that lands on Megan’s nose. Before she can make another move, Iskra moves in and pounds away at Megan’s midsection, back and forth. The musician is in some trouble. She’s clutching her stomach and bent over, meanwhile Iskra gears up a big time uppercut that she uses to stand Megan back up!

The bell rings and Iskra has done just barely enough to steal the round.

29-28 Lawrence.

R4:

After taking some heavy Iskra abuse, Megan stays defensive to start round four. This frustrates Iskra, who was finding her rhythm. She can’t seem to land anything clean this round between the dodges and the tight guard. Meanwhile, Megan has found her counter-jab and is doing a great job with it, popping Iskra over and over again. Almost as if she has open season.

She doesn’t, but Megan’s reach once again puts her in a good spot as she continues along in the round. Jab, jab, jab, right uppercut. Jab, jab, jab, left to the body. Over and over Megan varies up her attack while keeping her jab in the mix. Iskra has no answer. At the end of round four, Megan picks up another round.

38-38.

R5:

Here comes Megan! She charges Iskra early, clearly convinced she softened up her foe enough. Megan goes for the KO early in round 1, landing a beautiful right hook that almost drops Iskra. But the blonde stays up and protects herself as best she could front he onslaught.

Megan fires off every combo she knows and about half of them land. Iskra is sucking air now, her hair a sweaty mess. She looks overwhelmed by everything Megan throws at her. A left hook knocks her into the corner and a brutal evisceration almost knocks her down and out for good.

But Iskra somehow manages to find a way out of it. With a simple left hand to the cheek, Iskra still generates enough power to back Megan off a bit. Iskra now throws the combos, which land fairly well and are enough to get her out of shutout status. But even as Iskra retakes momentum at the end of the round, it’s still Megan with the points.

38-37 Megan

R6:

The two big fighters finally do what everyone wants of them… they get in a brush up center ring, neither one of them willing to back down. They toss brutal haymaker after haymaker. This isn’t a boxing match anymore, it’s an alternating knock out punch competition.

Still, through two minutes it seems nobody can make any headway. Then, all of a sudden Iskra throws a right cross-uppercut omboy that seems to make Megan’s knees buckle. The blonde continues to try to press the issue, but Megan retreats and skirts around the ring avoiding anything big for the rest of the round. Megan clearly looks shaken up after that shot and is fine with giving up a round if it means getting to fight another one.

47-47

R7:

Megan tries to recapture that offensive magic, but Iskra cuts through it like a hot knife through butter. She obliterates Megan’s defenses, which are lacking as she’s breathing pretty heavily in this seventh round. Her punches are slower, her reaction times less impressive…

Iskra knows she has a shot here. She lands a few jabs and then swings a really impressive right hook that sends Megan to the canvas!!! Iskra puts her hands in the air as she backs away from her opponent. She normally has the power to make someone go out cold with that punch, but Megan is something else. She pushes herself up at the six count and gestures Iskra toward her.

Iskra obliges. She walks Megan all the way into the corner and begins to fire off a bunch of crosses. Megan’s arms drop; she's an easy target. Iskra knocks her around some more and Megan’s arms are splayed out across the top ropes. The ref rushes in to break it up!!!

THE WINNER IN ROUND 7 VIA TKO: ISKRA LAWRENCE

Post-Fight:

Iskra gets her gloves off quickly and gets a handful of Megan’s hair as she walks her around the ring, waving to the crowd and then squishing Megan’s cheeks between her hand. She tosses Megan down onto the mat and puts her foot on her chest then flexes. Another fight, another win for the dangerous Iskra Lawrence.

“I’m a top 10 welterweight easy, probably top 5 when you look at what I’ve done these past few fights,” Iskra says. “Sabrina, Jessica, now Megan. I’m ready for the top of the food chain, if you catch my meaning.”

“She’s damn tough,” says Megan. “Not much to say about her than that. Hell of a fight and fighter… but I’m not done. Two losses in a row, it makes me real mad. I feel sorry for whoever I fight next. Because it’s not going to be pretty!”
