(Lookout! Boxing vs Pretty Little Punchers)

Intro:
Not many times you get to see Marvel and DC comic heroines battle it out, tonight though it is "Captain Marvel" Brie Larson taking on "Supergirl" Melissa Benoit for the first time in their careers, which of these toned actresses will do their fans proud by defeating the other?

When the fight was announced both women fired a few friend salvos over their social media, Brie posting "wow I have always wondered what it would be like to tug the cape of Supergirl, see if she could take one of my hits 👊"

With Melissa posting back "oh I guess you don't really understand the cape thing, see you tug it and I knock you out, so I welcome you to come try at your own peril 😈" as neither seems to really hate the other, though their fans certainly start debating who is tougher, who is the better fighter etc to create buzz around the fight.

Fight night in Arizona's Gila River Arena, the crowd has a few of both women's friends and co-stars, Brie has Scarlett Johansson and Cobie Smoulders in her VIP section, Melissa has her sister stables and former Supergirl Laura Vandervoort, along with Candice Patton and the other Arrowverse women cheering her on.

First through the curtain comes Brie with her coach Julie Benz behind her, going all in on this Marvel vs DC rivalry, Brie is wearing a boxing version of her Captain Marvel gear, a red and blue sports bra with the gold badge, blue short trunks, red boots and gloves, her hair tied into a ponytail as she steps into the ring, she flexes as she sees the Arrowverse girls, then gets serious as she stands in her corner.

Now here comes Melissa with Nia Peeples, Melissa stands red tapped hands on her hips as a fans blows her red cape, she walks down the aisle waving to her fans, Nia helps with the cape with Melissa nodding her thanks, she steps into the ring where she gets on red gloves, she wears a blue sports bra with the red Supergirl badge, a red skirt with a gold waistband underneath and red pants underneath, with red boots, her hair tied into a ponytail too.

As the fighters come together, it is announced the fighters are battling for a trophy of sorts tonight, each coach gives the referee a cloth pennant like football teams have, Julie giving a red pennant with the "Captain Marvel" badge on, Nia handing over a blue pennant with the red "Supergirl" badge on, the referee holding them up to show the crowd, with both women locking eyes with a grin, hands on hips as they go all superhero look, they respectfully touch gloves when told to, returning to their corners, once everything is sorted, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
It's a cautious start from both fighters, very similar in stances, in physical builds, and mindsets as they jab at their opponent, up on their toes as the crowd get into the superheroine theme by chanting for which one is their favourite hero, slowly they start to open up more as they crack in short cross punches with their jabs.

After feeling each other out for most of the first minute with a few flurries thrown in, it's Brie who takes the lead when she lands a jab square into Melissa's face, blocking an attempted left cross coming her way, then buries in a left hook to the body of her opponent to make her grunt.

Melissa is starting to throw more now she has lost the first meanwhile exchange, Brie is the one starting to control the action, smacking in the more cleaner shots as she has taken control of the center, forcing "Supergirl" to box near the ropes, both women smacking the other more harder as the intensity of the fight increases, crowd noise increasing too as both get cheered on.

Late in the round an uppercut knocks back Brie's head, with Melissa seeing her chance to blow back Brie with three punches square into the face of her opponent, Brie covers up after that with her back near the ropes now, luckily for her the bell rings not too long later, while it was a closer fought round, Brie might have took it for the length of time she controlled the center of the ring.

Round 2:
Smacking each other with stiffer punches now as they plant their feet more, they seem locked in now after a round to understand each other, while there are no superhero sound effects, cracks of leather can be heard when they exchange hard punches in fiery exchanges at the middle of the ring.

This time it's Melissa who finds the punch to break the early deadlock, slipping a straight to bang in a short right to the chest, then lands a left hook to turn Larson's head, a right hook doesn't land flush, it does force Brie to cover up more tightly.

In somewhat a reverse of the opening round, Brie is now the one near the ropes boxing off her back foot, the difference is Melissa is throwing in more body shots, seeking to wear down Brie, Melissa is getting clipped with punches to her face in return, she looks firmly in control right now as she barks in effort with each punch.

As they head into the final forty seconds, Brie catches Melissa over the top with a left hook, that allows her to begin driving back Benoit with a follow up clean one-two combo to her face, Melissa nearly clashes heads accidentally with Brie as she slips a straight as Larson steps into it, they are right in each others grill going toe to toe up until the bell, where they both nod to their opponent to show respect after a hard fought opening two rounds.

Round 3:
With these two being so similar it's hard for one of them to really grasp control so easily, moving their heads more to counter strike, trying little feints to try to get their opponent off guard, it works for Benoit as she crouches under a straight after using a feint jab, thudding in a straight to the abs of Larson, she lands with an overhand left to turn her opponent's head to the side.

Brie finding herself being muscled into a corner, body shots being hammered in, with the first clinch of the fight coming from Brie, both strong women try to wrestle each other around in the corner, foreheads starting to grind as the referee is needed to break them up to fight on.

Once they resume it's Melissa now pushing the pace, landing in two punches to Brie's, snapping her head back when she lands flush through or around the guard of "Captain Marvel" herself, with Brie needing to box a little more defensively, tighten her guard up so she doesn't get overrun by the confident Benoit.

As they enter the final fifty seconds, Brie makes her move as she deflects a straight and times a perfect counter right uppercut to rock back Melissa to her heels, momentum turning back around as Melissa now is hammered back across the ring to the opposite set of ropes, Brie needing to hang onto her, more grappling on the ropes till the bell rings, with a tap on both fighter's backs by the referee they split up, looking more serious as they return to their corners, locking eyes as the intensity is being ramped up seeing they are in a difficult fight.

Round 4:
Stepping back out to fight around the center of the ring, they are starting to really mark the others face up, a little mouse forming around Brie's left eye when Melissa lands a hard right across it, Melissa's bottom lip is split by a left cross dragging across it to draw blood.

Soon Larson deflects a left cross as she steps in with an uppercut to the body, then a clubbing left to the side of her opponent's head to send a little sweat flying, Brie starting to now drive Melissa back, paying her back for the body shots with her own well drilled assault to those firm abs.

Melissa slugs back with hooks when her back hits the ropes, Brie needing to take a step back when her head is getting hit cleanly, slamming a double jab into that busted lip of Benoit to make her grit her mouthpiece, both trading in hard shots till Melissa holds onto Brie, referee breaking them up as they look more scornfully at each other.

In the remaining minute they are planting their feet more to trade, heads being snapped back, abs being tested and even a few jug mugging shots fly in, with Brie catching Melissa out again, this time by leaning out the way of a right cross, then slamming a straight into the top of her forehead to knock her back a step, at the end of the round Brie flexes her arms with a grin, making Melissa state hard at her, thudding her gloves together looking annoyed as she returns to her stool.

Round 5:
Slugging it out to start as Melissa looks to be waiting to repay Brie for the taunt, she soon ducks under a left hook to bang in two right hooks under the ribs, Brie lands a right cross to force Melissa to retreat, AS BRIE GOES TO LAND A STRAIGHT, MELISSA SLIPS IT, THEN LANDS A RIGHT HOOK BEHIND THE EAR OF LARSON TO SEND HER TO HER KNEES!

"Don't f**k around with me" says Melissa as she points her right glove at Brie, jogging to the neutral corner where she poses hands on hips staring at Brie, 1...2...3.. Brie blinks hard a few times to clear her vision, 4....5...6.. Telling the referee it was a hit around the back of her head falls on deaf ears, 7...8.. She stands thudding her gloves together before lifting them up to show she is OK and isn't done yet.

Back at it they go, Brie trying to repay Melissa for the knockdown, Melissa wanting to end this time, they thud away on the inside before locking up in a clinch when they clash bodies missing a hook each, they are becoming real power struggles as they dig their feet into the canvas, crowd now chanting the fighters names as all the fun and games of the superheroine theme is gone for simple two battlers fighting to be the best.

Not long to go in the round, Brie misses with a left cross, taking a right on her jaw, she finds herself being bullied onto the ropes, Melissa thudding in her punches, Nia in her corner yelling "that's it! Lay in those punches hard!" As Brie has to hold onto Melissa, referee slips them up at the bell, both women take a moment to stare their opponent down, seeing the damage they are dealing to their rival before going back to get cleaned up by their coaches.

Round 6:
Melissa looks on a high from the last round, catching Brie early on with a double jab follow by a straight to knock back the Lookout! Fighter a step, Brie covering up more tightly under the assault coming her way, landing some crisp single punches in return to show she isn't going anywhere that easily.

But Benoit has her opponent back near the ropes, when she is able to catch Brie around the left eye it is making Brie grimace, with Larson needing to fire back before she gets overrun, leading to another heated exchange that leads to an accidental clash of heads that stops the action for a moment, referee checking both women for cuts and thankfully there are none, so they resume fighting.

Again it's Melissa getting in the better punches, slamming a straight that sends sweat flying from Brie's head, Melissa works her opponent back into a neutral corner, her shots having real power behind them as she plants her feet, Brie looking to be sore alright judging by her expressions, holding onto Melissa to stop her assault.

Broken up with not long to go, Melissa is trying to keep the heat on her opponent, she misses with a left cross as Brie dips under it, instead a right hook buries under her ribs then a left lands square into her stomach to make her groan out, Brie nearly cracks Melissa on her chin with her forehead as she swings in an overhand right that glances the side of her head, the bell rings to end the round with Melissa and Brie taking a breath before walking to their corners, both fighters starting to dip sweat as their coaches wipe them down and patch them up.

Round 7:
While they are not moving as much on their toes, both are landing stiff punches through guards and showing their skills by dodging at times to land counters, Brie getting pushed back by a one-two flush into her face, her left eye looking a little more swollen now.

But as Melissa swings in a right hook at it, Brie leans out the way to crash an overhand left to the cheek of Melissa, who now has a little puffiness around it, Brie follows up with an uppercut to the body that makes Melissa grimace as she gasps, clearly that took some wind out her sails.

Now it's Brie backing up Melissa into a corner, it's actually the Pretty Little Punchers corner as Nia is yelling at Melissa to fight back, she is trying as they trade more furious punches, Melissa can't load up as much in tight to the turnbuckles, needing to desperately grab onto Brie as her lip is now dripping blood onto her bust, the "Supergirl" badge now has streaks of blood running down it.

Referee splits them up, both going toe to toe as the final minute ticks away, each gets on top for a period whacking the other fighter back, before a punch is deflected and the other fighter starts beating them back, crowd on it's feet cheering, whistling, applauding this war, the bell can barely be heard as the referee has to get between these two amazing fighters, ordering them to their corners, both leaning their arms across the middle ropes as they suck in air, Brie spitting blood in her water bucket from a cut inside her cheek, Melissa wincing as her right eye is now starting to swell, both are starting to look like if the characters they play actually slugged it out.

Round 8:
Pushing out their corners arms up, they are both landing hard single punches, drilling them cruelly into their opponent's face, blood and sweat going flying as they still look determined behind their mitts, still somewhat up on their toes as they try to conquer this rival who matches up so well to them.

An opening appears for one fighter soon, Melissa swinging in a right cross just misses, Brie leaning inside it as she buries an uppercut to the body, Melissa groaning as her eyes half shut, an overhand left wobbles her legs, AN UPPERCUT THEN SENDS MELISSA TO HER BACK!

Brie raises her arms in the air as she walks to the neutral corner, her supporters roaring as even those in her VIP section are jumping for joy, 1...2....3.. That joy could be short lived as Melissa turns to her front groaning, 4...5...6.. Like something from her TV show she is crawling to the ropes as Brie shakes her head, 7..?8.. Pulling herself up with help from the ropes, 9... Melissa beats the count! The referee checks her over, she tiredly raises her gloves, telling the referee she is OK with a nod.

The fighter resumes but it's clear Melissa is fighting on fumes after that nasty knockdown, Brie cracks her with a right hook that makes Melissa stumble towards the ropes, more punches come in from Brie, THE TOWEL FLIES IN FROM THE PRETTY LITTLE PUNCHERS CORNER! REFEREE JUMPS BETWEEN THE FIGHTERS TO WAVE THE FIGHT OFF!

Winner Brie Larson TKO (corner stoppage) Round 8

After:
After all the animosity that was building during the fight, Brie embraces Melissa after the bell rings, checking she is OK as Melissa tiredly hugs her back, crowd applauding these two women as they fought a war here tonight, both fighters coaches rush into the ring to check on them, Melissa needing to be helped to her stool as she looks jelly legged, while the winner raises her arms in victory at the middle of the ring to loud roars from her supporters.

Sitting on their stools being cleaned up, their friends in the crowd look in disbelief at what they witness, chatting away in their sections, Melissa's friends understandably looking the more worried of the two, she gives them a thumbs up and a smile to show she will be OK.

Once they are cleaned up it's time for the final result to be announced, the "Supergirl" pennant is in the referees hand ready to give to Brie, Melissa though still a little shaky heads to the middle of the ring, asking if she can hand the pennant over, in a show of her class she hands it to Brie with a firm looking handshake, both smiling as they nod their respect to each other.

Though Melissa makes it clear about one thing, telling Brie "I hope you don't thing this is over between us, I need to get my win next" with Brie grinning as she replies "anytime Supergirl" winking as Melissa chuckles, nodding at Brie before she steps out the ring, it wasn't Melissa's night but never doubt her heart and toughness.

In the ring Brie raises the pennant above her head for the crowd to see, before posing for the cameras with hands on her hips in the classic superhero pose, once that she is over she steps out the ring, surely taking a big step towards the bantamweight title after this victory, though she might want to take the weekend off first before thinking of her next fight on her schedule at the PPV.
