Before: “China Beach” gym wars the stuff of celeb boxing legend--Delany/Helgenberger fighting literally hundreds of rounds without headgear, but Dana always getting the promotional push when it came to televised action. Marg’s never really gotten over her sparring partner status despite giving Delany hell toe to toe. “Ask anybody associated with the show,” says a still-bitter Helgenberger, “they’ll tell you Dana took blue beatings from me that she never saw anywhere else. I’d pulp up on her in sparring, and she’d get the big payday. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to finally have my own promotion behind me--I’ve waited years to get Delany in front of a global audience,” Double D in pink bra and panties in lavender/black floral print bra and panties. Women refuse to shake hands, staring icily at one another during ring instructions.

During R1: Delany marches machine-like, right hand at her cheek, left across her body--she walks Helgenberger down, cranks hooks to the body, hooks to the head, finishing up with straight right hands on the teeth. Marg slipping, retreating, trying to get distance, but down the stretch--Delany catches Marg leaning away with lunging right cross, Helgenberger buckling and stumbling to the ropes at the bell, Banging shutout Dana D.

R2: More competitive round as Helgenberger stands her ground--Dana fighting with cold fury, shrugging off Marg’s shots and making the carrot topped woman fight. Hammer and tongs all around the ring as the girls lay in close, taking turns getting off with crisp combinations, but it’s always Helgenberger giving ground,  Delany getting in the last lick before they fall in together.

R3: Helgenberger looking a little shopworn, tries to open up the canvas, but Dana tracks her don, jabbing Marg to the corners and outworking the redhead in forehead ion forehead slugging. Marg clearly wearing down under Delany’s sustained pressure--Midway through, Helgenberger’s legs falter and she walks away, blinking, slightly staggering. Delany pounces at the first sign of weakness, stepping in the jab, then snapping whistling right hands to the waist--Helgenberger gurgling, crumbles to the ropes as she breaks down. Delany dipping in with the short right uppercut, twists sideways and sinks in a Mosley left hook t the liver--Helgenberger groaning, doubles over. Coup de grace for DD--she clips the left uppercut across the lips, then twists into that grim hook behind the elbow--Marg can’t take it. Helgenberger slumping to all fours, pulls back onto her haunches, face pinched in pain--she’s not getting up. Demonstrative KO3 Dana Delany.

After: Delany slamming the door, giving Marg a professional working-over in three crisp rounds of work. Helgenberger shaken, sobbing in the aftermath, subjected to a heartless walk of shame as an unscathed Dana takes her for a breezy jaunt around the ring. No pleasant way to say this--Dana just beat Marg up, going right at her rival with hard punching from the start--pressure proving to be the right decision as Helgenberger looked second class all the way.
