With the end of the year, time for a thoughtful look back at 2010 and a hopeful look forward toward 2011.

"Big Bad" Gena Lee Nolin: 7-3

Overall a very good year for GLN. After some premature circling of the vultures, Gena Lee roars back into the top ten title contenders; fourteen time champ looking to wear the strap - yet again.

Highs: KO 10 of Stacy Kiebler and UD 10 over Mandy Moore have the youngsters wary of the big blonde lioness. Also effectively retired "the mystery redhead" who Pearl Harbored her with two merciless beatdowns of Kate Walsh

Lows: Lost a grudge match to Rachel Nichols, after calling Nichols out in the mistaken! beleif that Nichols was "the redhead" - emabarassing. Blasted out (for the second time!)in five pulverizing rounds by Amanda Righetti in a title shot. A career that is Hall of Fame by any objective standards is being denied by FCBA Hall based on subjective issues about tactics. And it appears will never get that desperately coveted final shot at a certain "Golden Girl"

2011: New welter champ in Bridget Regan offers a chance to outflank Righetti (who appears to have GLN's number). Talk of trying to get Regan to go bare knucks on St. Paddy's Day as part of the annual bar brawl (obviously title would not be on line but way to rattle young champ badly). Potential headache with Big Bad Gena Lee not so discreetly calling herself the "flagship" of Sceej Boxing ... to the chagrin of a certain other blonde firecracker!

Adrianne "Amazon" Palicki 3-2

Only a minimal bounce back from sophmore jinx; Sceej Boxing and FCBA in general still trying to figure out whether Adrianne is a top ten contender type or a top twenty pretender? We think the former but "The Amazon" still has a lot to prove.

Highs: No brainer - KO3 over Hall of Famer and current lightweight champion Jennifer Garner.

Lows: No brainer redux - KO'd in 3 in first title shot by Jessica Biel.

2011: Get her active and get her winning. Keep the cougar hunts and pushovers to a minimum. Fight other contenders and beat them - maybe look at fighting former tormentors Shannon Elizabeth and Ashley Scott? Find a way to tap the cold fury and rage that can make her ferocious (ask Zeta-Jones) and stop letting opponents off the hook late.

Jenny "Mac the Knife" McCarthy

Fairly good year at 6-4, spent a fair amount of the year in the top ten, but still too easily distracted and manipulated into bad fights. Sometimes borders on unmanagebale. Currently alternately sulking/seething because some boxing scribes have speculated that she is "washed up"(?!!) - that is only true if Jenny beleives it to be true!

Highs: KO victory over welterweight Jennifer Lopez (avenging a ten year grudge). Effective smack down of the Front Street bantams with back to back decisions over Neve Campbell and Jewell Kilcher.

Lows: Embarassing KO2 loss to Jennifer Love Hewitt and worse KO3 loss in title shot to Rachel McAdams.

2011: Jenny has got to stop reacting to every perceived slight and start fighting smart, in and out of the ring. She hates to face it but the fact is that the Wizard has a point - twenty brutal rounds with two murderous body punchers was not the way to prepare for a title fight. The proof? She got stopped by a body shot - and as good as Rachel McAdams is (and she has the belt so she's the best right now), she is not a hellacious body puncher - some of the damage was residual! She needs to get past the insecurities. Am I still the Sceej Boxing flagship? We are a boxing stable - not a damn 18th century navy - we do not have a flagship!

Sceej Boxing

2010 - Overall, a pretty good year. Hard to complain with all three fighters over .500. Here's the rub - all three girls fought for the title and all three came up short. To take it a step further, all three lost badly - KO'd 5, KO'd 3, and KO'd 3 - we have to do better in the big fights.

2011 - Some of the problems are spilling over. McCarthy/Nolin with this moronic "flagship" undercurrent. McCarthy/Nolin again talking about this ridiculous "bare knuckles" bar room tradition for St. Patrick's day (and worse, rumors of them fighting each other!!!). Jenny reacting every time the Grand Wizard says something. For the record, it is my belief that Jenny was never going to sign with Front Street and I can say unequivocably that Sceej Boxing never had talks with Olivia Wilde about replacing J-Mac as our bantam.

And I seriously seriously hope that a certian rumor I have heard is false - that Jenny has on her own signed and forwarded a blank contract to fight anyone in the Front Street stable because she thinks Front Street is/are the Stormtropopers? If this has happened, I would ask the Grand Wizard for the professional courtesy of a discreeet call before he fills in any name on any such contract.

That said, with the trend toward mega-stabkes and in ring brawling, Sceej Boxing will at least consider expansion. Currently, we do not have a flyweight and I am not sure we want to go in that direction. I will stack my three against any three in the FCBA, particulatly in a street fight where GLN and J-Mac are even more dangerous, but increasingly, it looks like there is the potential to be overwhelmed by sheer numbers. I have resisted having multiple girls at bantam, light, and welter because I am concerned about the potential for intra-stable squabbles (Front Street, Bazz, Academy, Foxfire, Lookout, et al ... any advice on how you all have multiple contenders at the same wight and keep them from each others throats?)
