Before: Jenny O'Dell compares Garner and Pratt: "Vicki's a bantam sized fighter who's physical enough to compete at lightweight," JOD says thoughtfully, "but Garner's a brawny lightweight who's physical enough to handle welters - that's the big difference. It's like, back in school - the difference between fighting the captain of the gymnastics squad and fighting the all-state heptathlete. The thing is, I want to prove that I can handle speed like the classiest pros in the sport. I model myself after brunettes like Cat Bell or Charisma - they aren't exactly greyhounds in the ring but you never see them get blown away by velocity because they're smart and they're hardnosed. That's how I want to be."

Pratt bumping up against the BSE gatekeeping strategy and resentful of it. "I shouldn't have to fight Jenny," sniffs the self-proclaimed 'fittest woman in showbusiness'. "I've proven over and over again I belong in the top echelon of fighters and I feel I am the number one contender to Carpenter's title. That means someone's got to pay, and that someone is going to be Jenny. What Garner did to her, I'll do, except I'll take care of my business a LOT quicker."

During R1: O'Dell showing the discipline she unveiled against Dunning - hanging back, channelling Pratt with the jab, letting Vicki gamble early. Jenny ducking low, letting brisk Pratt lefts and rights skid and scrape across scalp, upperback and shoulders - when Vicki's done, Jenny answers hard overhand rights and vicious hooks, clanging away head and breadbasket. Pratt attacking with straight, chopping lefts and rights in strafing runs, getting off as she closes, then passes by either O'Dell flank. Jenny managing the high octane attacks beautifully - blocking most of it, disrupting it with the jab, countering Pratt on the way in and on the way out.

R2: Jenny showing patience, maturity - fitting her jab to Vicki's face, sometimes to back Pratt up, other times to pre-empt Vicki's blitz. Jenny's back foot up on the big toe, generating thudding poke on the jab while affording a good base to fade back from Pratt - O'Dell's footwork much improved as she fights well in reverse or pivots to turn and blunt Vicki's ferocity. Well placed body shots landing loud, hollow against Pratt's ribs and waist - Jenny getting there with burrowing rights sloped straight down the middle, gouging hooks dug in thick behind the elbow. Pratt mouthbreathing at the bell, dismayed: been a long time since somebody's challenged her midsection like this.

R3: Pratt rushes in with chopping rights and lefts - Jenny fades it, popping her jab off Vicki's face, walking Pratt into a cracking short right counter to send Pratt reeling on her heels. O'Dell over to offense - spear-jabbing Vicki ropeside, then barrelling in close to bury a right hand flat to midriff - Pratt groaning, cramping up as Jenny drops the right foot back for distance, chop-hooks Vicki's cheek. Pratt in a bad way - slapping arm punches: Jenny on wide-spread pins, bending in and down with crashing rights on the chin, easing out onto her back foot to pull a murderous hook across Vicki's trembling abs. Pratt sponging up BOMBS from Jenny - one right hand landing so flush, Pratt goes limp, mouthpiece spilling off her teeth onto Jenny's upperback as O'Dell bends low on follow through. Blockbuster punching nailing and nailing Pratt - her head snapping, her body cringing as she sags against ropes - Jenny throwing her body weight into hellacious shellack, just strapping it on thick. Pounding barrage too much for Vicki - she breaks down in stages, finally going out on her feet off one of those trainwreck rights to her face, spilling down Jenny's back and right hip enroute to a face-first splashdown. O'Dell looking down pretty as she strides away from prone Pratt: KO3 in devastating fashion, Jennifer O'Dell.

After: Competitive fight on paper turned into a laugher as a disciplined, yet hard-slugging Jenny O'Dell turns in a picture perfect effort. "I felt like, the real challenge of this fight was to battle my own tendencies," says a pumped up and beaming JOD in postfight. "Every instinct I had was telling me to meet Vicki head on and pound away - but I couldn't give into that sluglust. I used my jab, countered her, hurt her to the body and broke her down - just like we drew it up!"

Once again, BLONDE! magazine outraged at the idea of two blondes cancelling each other out so a brunette champion can manage risk better - Jenny unfazed by the criticism. "We're creating something special here and I'm not about to blow it by letting ego get in the way."
