The Academy PPV consisted of three fights all against Front Street, so this was a mini stable war, which the Academy lost as expected. In fact, is difficult to conceive of the Academy winning a stable war against any stable other than RiRy.

WITHERSPOON/ MACK I considered this fight a dead certain. There was no way that Witherspoon was going to beat Mack. There wasn’t even a line in Vegas. After Mack took the first round, Witherspoon surprised everyone by taking the next two rounds. After the third round Jewel read the riot act to Mack and she responded by decking Witherspoon in the fourth. For the next four rounds Mack pounded Witherspoon around the ring. The beating was so brutal that finally, Theron working in Witherspoon’s corner, threw in the towel and Mack got TKO win

PARK/ SWANEPOEL I figured the odds on this fight were 70/30 for Park to win. In other words, Swanepoel’s chances of winning while not completely out of the question, were slim. We thought that Park would have a little more trouble than she did. She took the first four rounds, working on Swanepoel’s body and dropping her in the fourth. A talking to from Charlize seem to galvanize Swanepoel who had a very good fifth, punching and hurt Park. Apparently Swanepoel spent her last quarter in the fifth because Park came out blazing in the sixth and Swanepoel had no answer and was pounded into a TKO loss, as the referee had seen Swanepoel take enough punishment and stopped the fight.

BELL/ SOBIESKI. This fight I had pegged at 50/50 and of course I picked the wrong fighter to win. No, let me put it this way. The fighter I picked to win, didn’t. It was looking good for me for the first two rounds as Sobieski outworked Bell. The flow of the fight changed in the third as Bell got on track. Bell proceeded to take the next five rounds including flooring Sobieski in the fourth and sixth rounds. In the eighth, the complexion of the fight changed again as Sobieski took the last three rounds with a knockdown of Bell in the tenth. Five rounds a piece. Bell had an extra knockdown that was the difference as she got a one point decision.
