Talk about a lump of coal in your stocking, Rachel was left with lots of lumps on her body and face, not to mention the misery of seeing her title pass to someone else. That said, Rachel's still a professional:
"I congratulate Britney Spears on regaining tht titles. It's been a tough few years for her, but if anyone doubts she's back--well, I can testify personally, that she is."
(Rachel glances at a glowering Dani Fishel who is watching Britney celebrating her win).
"I don't have the personal feelings towards Britney that some of us at Foxfire do, but I do hate losing to anyone. I am determined to get right back in the title hunt next yeat. Ms. Spears and the bantam division have not seen the last of me--or Foxfire in the winner's circle."
Skip Tracey of Archer News calls out:
"You have any ideas on who to fight next?"
Rachel looks serious: "I need a credible opponent to beat. someone who defeating will prove I belong back in contention."
Skip calls out; "We've heard reports that HISC has been in contact with Foxfire about a fight you and Eliza Dushku. Is that the type of fighter tou mentioned?"
"Yes, she would be," Rachel said, "but I cannot comment on mere 'feelers'. When there is a serious offer on the table, I will comment."
Beth Harnois pipes up: "We're in the Directory, Eliza, you want Rachel, you send us a real offer."
With that Rachel McAdams turns away and makes her way slowly back to the dressing room. She pauses more than once to look back ar rhe ring where Britney is waving around the title belts to the lusty cheers of the fans. Rachel is unable to conceal a look of regret, but she quickly pushes it aside and goes back. No longer a title holder, but still a champion.

Britney sits at the center of the dais. To her right, Jamie Lynn, Neve Campbell and Allison Mack. To her left, Katy Perry, Jewel., and the Man In The Hat.
Man In The Hat: "I know what you folks wanta talk about, but let's hear any Katy Perry questions first. And, keep in mind, the kid's gonna be a star, so ya might wanta get on her good side. Cable Boy! You know what side your bread's buttered on!"
HBO Reporter: "OK, what did you think of Katy's performance?"
Man In The Hat: "I was pleased with some of it. I love the aggression. I love the power and the guts. But, this kid is a good athlete. She can box and she can be much better defensively. Now, she's smokin' hot and she's a crowd pleaser, so I'll get her fights. But, if she wants ta get pushed? I gotta see that stuff I didn't see tonight. And, before someone asks, Katy didn't walk Keeley because we got no problems with the kid. She's hot. She's got guts. And she's got some skil. We wish her well. Now, we'll open the floor. Cable Boy II!"
Showtime Reporter: "This is for Britney. You seemed very confident tonight..."
Britney: "First, I want to thank Foxfire and Rachel. She could have fought anyone she wanted. She earned that right beating Pressly twice and then McCarthy. No one would have criticized her for taking an easier fight. But she did what champions do. She took on the biggest challenge she could find. She's a great fighter and she'll wear these belts again. As for being confident? Yeah. I was. I knew how good she was, but I know how good I am. I knew I could beat her. I didn't know I WOULD, but I knew I COULD."
Man In The Hat: "BLONDE! Magazine, where they are no doubt celebratin'! Go!"
BLONDE! Reporter: "Britney, how much credit goes to Wiz for the win tonight?"
Man In The Hat: "I'll take that one. Absolutely NONE. BRITNEY did this. Not Wiz. Not Front Street. That's why she's in the middle of the dais and not me. It's her night."
BLONDE! Reporter: "But you..."
Man In The Hat: "All I did was show her the opportunity. She took it. She's the one who did the work, put the time in in the gym and out on the road. She's the one with the talent and skills ta be champ, and she's the one that got herself razor sharp, which she had ta be ta beat McAdams. Brit's right. Rachel's a great fighter. But no one...no one...in this generation has the combination of skill, power, beauty, and celebrity profile that Brit does. Britney Spears is the bantam of her generation. She doesn't NEED help ta be great. She just IS. Ok, Brunette Magazine. I signed Swan. Give me a break here..."
Brunette Magazine Reporter: "Britney, Kate Beckinsale is on record as saying she deserved this title shot. Would you consider her for the next one?"
Britney: "That's up to Hour-Glass. Remember, Mariska and Maria have my contract. I'd certainly consider her. She's a worthy contender, but there are a lot of others, too. I'll have to see which direction Hour-Glass thinks I should go. Tess! You have a question?"
Tess: "This is for Jamie Lynn. This year didn't start off so well for the Spears sisters. It's certainly ending on a better note. How are you feeling right now?"
Jamie Lynn: "Like I always have. I wanna be just like Britney when I grow up!"
(Laughter)
Britney: "One of these days, this will be your press conference. Wiz, is it OK if I call on Smackey?"
Man In The Hat: "As long as he understands that if he ever evesdrops in my locker room again there's gonna be one more weighted barrell at the bottom of the shippin' canal, sure!"
Reporter: "Sorry, Wiz. Britney, were you worried at all that the Stormtroopers might try something?"
Britney: "Look around this dais. With back up like this, plus Shakira and the rest of Front Street? I wasn't concerned at all."
Reporter: "Follow up for Wiz. If you were writing tonight's headline, what would it be?"
Man In The Hat: "Britney Back On Top...Where She Belongs! Now, it's Christmas flippin' Eve around here! The fishes await! And I get a feelin' this might be the biggest Christmas Eve celebration Philly's ever SEEN!" |
