BOXING AFTER DARK

Before: Casta-envy pits these two long time rivals against one another--each jealous of the kind of cross-over credibility Laetitia’s been able to generate, each hoping to be the blonde to get Casta in the ring and show she’s not the only model who can do it with the mitts. Physically and stylistically very similar, both recognized as above average athlete in their class--Klum’s the more experienced girl, although both tend to exhibit raw, modeling-house form in the ring. Klum in grey-silver bikini, Sims in white Ralph Lauren bikini--the two tanned sisters standing eye to eye for ring instructions. Fought outdoors  under the sponsorship of the Hotel Association of Cancun.

During R1: Early action tentative, girls loping around each other with expressive snarls, left hands dangling lo, right hands at stomach level. Klum doing some nice feinting, gets some flinches out of Sims who seems the more agitated in the ring. Girls get to slinging right hands from outside eventually sprawling into one another’s arms and tumbling sloppily to the ropes. Hungry scrubbing action as the lanky bodies wrap up--girls dragging and lashing their punches up into each other, taking turns punching each other in the ribcage whenever the opponent wraps up around the other’s neck. Down the stretch, Sims had Klum covering up and cowering--Molly throwing a series of elbow smashes against Heidi’s right shoulder has the German leaning sideways into a corner all shook up. Sultry Argentinian hostess  in purple bikini cast as the referee in this fight she’s helpless to enforce the rules or even break the taller blondes apart. Round to Sims.

R2:  Early action sees both girls loop and swing with right hands from the stomach--crazy gyrating action inevitably carries the limber blondes into one another’s arms and the action stumbles into the topes once again. Both girls get active with elbows to the arms and ribcages of the opponent--models are taught to throw cheap on the inside as most lack the mechanics for effective punching in close. Burbling along the ropes, Sims tries to clinch up--Heidi breaks free with a vicious lacing of the American eyes--Molly sobbing and staggering away, actually turning her back on Heidi as the German clobbers primitive right hands to the top of Sims’ head and upper back. Molly hitting the ropes face first, takes a swabbing to her kidneys before she can turn around--all Klum to the bell as she leans forward, gallops her fists up underneath to hammer Molly’s torso like a drum. Sims left woozy by the chugging bombardment--Klum can’t get enough of it in regulation time, keeps lapping at the ribcage after the bell.

R3: Outside, it’s wild and woolly--girls leaning into whip-lash right hands that could end either’s night  if they ever landed flush. By the middle minute, lanky-bodies have fallen in together, taking turns stuffing in right hands to the breadbasket, throwing those elbows against one another’s slender arms, each getting hurt and wrapping u around the other’s neck in a random dance of agony around the bring. This time it’s Sims with a late eye-rake to break the stalemate--Klum covering up and sitting  into the ropes--Molly loading up with bared teeth and swiping away with bashing lefts and rights across the German’s exposed back. Tears for Heidi as she minces to her corner during he break--she’s arching her back with hands at her kidneys, feeling the ache.

R4: Girls stand midring and push long, awkward punches side to side against one another’s breasts and faces, Inefficient delivery, but the constant rub of leather is giving each a wind blasted, drowsy look, Klum eventually works Sis to the ropes and starts to balance herself like a professional, finally getting some leverage on slogging lefts and rights to the waist that have molly covering up. Klum taking over with vindictive elbow smashes to the American’s arms--Sims sobbing aloud as she is ravaged numbly folding forward to clinch around Heidi’s waist. Klum stepping back licking punches around Molly’s long arms into the svelte waist and lower--Klum piling up the fouls in her quest for victory. Suddenly, Sims breaks down, legs shaking as she stumbles forward, Heidi giving ground with a smile and separating to let Molly puddle to all fours. It’s over--a sobbing , beaten Molly Sims blubbers on her haunches mid ring as Heidi prances via KO4.

After: walk fo shame for Sims who can’t stop crying--she started with the elbows and rough play--Klum finished it. Girls cancelled out one another’s skills for the most part, leaving only the cruelest, ugliest techniques taught by the agencies--both can look more professional than they showed, Heidi upbeat, smiling broadly, continues to hold Sims’ waist in her right hand as she addresses the camera in post fight. “I would very much like to fight Laetitia  Casta in Europe sometime soon. There has been entirely to much talk if Casta--it’s time for people once again to talk of  Heidi Klum.
