BEFORE:
It’s definitely been a while since we last saw Petra Nemcova in the ring. Of course, these days, she’s busy managing the other girls in her stable and making sure they don’t erupt into impromptu catfights at the SIRENs’ gym. Tonight though has Petra returning for a bout against a woman she’s known for years as a professional model, starring together on plenty of Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoots back in the day.

It’s fresh Brazilian power on display as Isabeli Fontana enters the press hall with a wide smile on her face, with even wider grins meeting her as the reporters eye her from head to toe. And who can blame them, with Fontana rocking a red-flowered bikini top and hot denim shorts, showing off her incredible physique for someone only in her mid-30s.

“I have incredible respect for girls like Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, fellow Brazilians who’ve done exceptionally well for models their age. I think of myself as following in their footsteps too. Petra, though? She has some power in her hands, but anyone can also have that. I plan to show her why she should treat me seriously from now on.”

Nemcova of course a relative newcomer to the sport, but has been at this table long enough to know when a girl’s talking out her ass. The blonde appears congenial during Fontana’s short speech, but that smile soon turns into mocking smirk by the time the Brazilian wraps up.

“My dear, girls like Alessandra and Adriana are champions because they’re been in the ring much longer than you have. Forgive me for not thinking that you’re even capable of knocking me out tonight. In fact, I plan on making short work of you. Let’s go get this started, shall we?”

These are big girls in the Welterweight division, once the pin-up girls of a generation of boys and now back again and squaring off for photographs at the podium, as they prepare to throw down in a flashback battle for the ages. Petra and Isabeli face-off with both their hands on their hips and noses almost touching, sizing each other up for the cameras. Both girls are relatively the same height and weight, so this might come down to the difference in experience alone.

In the ring, Petra going for a consertive grey sports bra, white tights and red gloves, looking as though she’s back in the gym for another training bout. At the other corner, Isabeli still smiling haughtily in her flowery ensemble, this time stripped of her hot denim shorts and rocking a bikini bottom of matching pattern. Referee goes through the rules and we get a surprising tap of the fists by the end of it. HERE we go with ten rounds of Welterweight action!

ROUND 1:
Easy start from Petra who wants to test the new girl’s resolve, and she gets her wish early when the two gals meet in the center and a flurry of activity suddenly erupts between them! Isabeli actually holding her own sauce early as both blonde and brunette land some choice, hard punches to the face, and judging from both their reactions, these big girls are managing to hurt each other aplenty. But neither one of them is willing to back down as they continue circling around each other and snapping crisp jabs into the face and body. The round is too close to call by the end of three minutes, but it doesn’t spell good news for the veteran Nemcova if she can’t manage to put away a newcomer in such a toe-to-toe fight.

ROUND 2:
Isabeli with some fancy moves in the second round as she comes forward looking to brawl but tries her hand at some hit-and-run tactics instead, weaving in some feints before moving her head to the left and right in order to avoid Nemcova’s counter strikes. Fontana shocking the blonde to the face and body whenever she can, leaving Petra struggling and, if we’re honest, getting pushed back on occasion by this rookie, whose brazen tactics are hurting her bit by bit. Petra slugging back in the second half, scoring a hook of her own into Fontana’s cheek, which actually leaves the Brazilian smiling as she backs away in pain. But that one shot is ultimately it’s just a drop in the ocean with Petra allowing her foe to run away with points overall in this round, managing to beat the Siren at her own slugging game.

ROUND 3:
Petra with a stubborn resolve of her own in her belief that she’s better than this newcomer, tries to dominate the action early as she leads with a hard strike to the side of Isabeli’s head, then continues to hound her with heavy shots to the front of the temples. Isabeli rattled early on, but keeps her guard up, poking back at Petra’s face with her right hand fully extended out in front, hoping to disrupt the blonde’s aggression. But Petra still coming close and wailing away at the head, forcing Fontana to wrap up with the blonde beauty and resulting in the two girls wrestling for dominance in the middle of the ring, taking turns to shove their chests into each other. Petra caught smiling by the cameras, realising that she’s back in the winning column if she continues to overwhelm her opponent with her own power, but then gets careless and allows Isabeli to bash fists into her tummy, before the Brazilian slams another gloves straight into her nostrils after the clinch is broken forcibly. There’s still fire in Isabeli’s eyes as she growls and returns the heat right back, sending Petra packing with another cross landing on the chin, and the rest of us might be just looking at an incredible battle that’s set to go the distance here.

ROUND 4:
Isabeli rushing in at the bell and it’s a surprise attack from the raven-haired Brazilian, who ducks under an errant hook from Petra before rocking her with another two-punch combo to the nose and lips. Petra dazed from the sudden blitz, goes stumbling back, just trying to get her defences up on time. Isabeli pushing forward regardless, knows an advantage when she sees one as she swipes at the blonde’s belly in close quarters before putting some muscle into an upwards swing into Petra’s forearms, some bigger and bigger uppercuts just cutting down the middle of her defences, and FINALLY BREAKS the matriarch’s guard clean apart and ROCKS the big blonde down onto her back! Good lord - that uppercut CONNECTED hard with the Czech chin, whipping her head into the sky and then flooring her flat! What a KNOCKDOWN for the newcomer!

Crowd’s already on their feet as they roar in approval of an underdog possibly making history tonight, and Isabeli herself is grinning widely as she shakes those proud hips on her way back to corner, leaving Petra writhing in pain as she tries to recover from this humiliation. Referee is by her side, shouting out random numbers into her ear, and Petra through the daze manages to stand back up by the count of 8! As the round resumes and Isabeli flies at her once more, the Brazilian putting her remaining energy into more punches aimed to finish her off, but finding that Petra’s guard is already fully reformed and absorbing the punishment. Petra manages also to wrap up with Fontana on the ropes, giving her some much needed breathing space to run the timer out to the bell. Fontana with a big takeaway overall with that knockdown, but still must be disappointed inside at not being able to finish her opponent off.

ROUND 5:
Still, that doesn’t stop the Brazilian from trying again. She’s looking slightly more gassed by this point, those wet, dark brown strands of hair still clinging to the sides of her face as both women get more and more disheveled whilst taking turns rotating each other’s head to the side. Petra relying on her bulkier frame to dictate the pace of action for this round, whenever possible clinching up with Isabeli and then digging fists into her ribs and the side of the head, exploiting the rookie’s inexperience in close quarters fighting. Isabeli getting visibly frustrated as she grunts and groans, once again tries to break free and RAM an overhead haymaker straight into the blonde’s face. But Petra sees it coming a mile away this time, blocks deftly with a raised arm, before returning the hook into the Brazilian’s cheek, sending Fontana gasping loudly in pain as she breaks away and retreats. Petra happily mops up the pieces with more jabs sent in over and over, hounding Fontana all the way to the bell.

ROUND 6:
Isabeli starting to fade here as we head into the second half of the fight. Petra just been in more battles to know when to pounce on a wounded foe. She dominates the first minute with constant harassment of Isabeli’s head and body, not barreling in completely but showing off her expert footwork and jabbing skills, as a result controlling her opponent all the way backed into the ropes. The Brazilian looks like she’s taken enough punishment to last more than sixth rounds, now her body getting beaten like a drum as Petra goes after the easiest and most open target available. But of course, the real prize is that pretty Brazilian face of hers, and Nemcova starts ramping up her power shots with harder and tougher swings crashing into Isabeli’s raised guard, throwing the poor challenger left and right in a helpless daze. In the final minute, Isabeli letting out another pained GASP as her guard falters, her face feeling the blunt force trauma of Petra’s hooks as they slam into her in an endless tide of Siren fury. But Isabeli still manages to hang on for dear life all the way until the bell saves her from destruction. Petra put in her 110% back there, but still didn’t manage to score a revenge knockdown. Still, she should be happy to see the damage wrought to Isabeli’s face and body, now pockmarked red and some visibly swelling already starting to form on either cheek.

ROUND 7:
No more luck for the rookie as Isabeli looks like she’s barely hanging onto her wits in the first minute, especially when Petra BARRELS into her like a bulldozer, starts throwing her about the ring, sometimes literally, when the blonde gets in close with an arm around the back of the brunette’s neck, or fist wrapped around the waistline, then free hand buried over and over into pristine Brazilian body in an entirely one-sided affair. Isabeli’s nostrils busted wide open when a third swing upwards lands hard and rocks her head back. The big girl moans as she sways dangerously on both feet, arms barely up at this point and just begging to be put down. Petra obliges her request, KNOCKS her flat down with a lasting hook to the side of the chin! BLAM as Fontana’s hits the canvas hard, and there she stays all the way past the 10-count! It’s over!

AFTER:
But what a stellar opening performance for the Brazilian rookie, who managed to hold her own against the leader of the SIRENs herself for a good sixth rounds! Isabeli with a defiant, rage-filled expression when the announcement of her loss finally goes out into the entire stadium, arguing with the referee once she’s gotten back onto her feet.

But no use challenging the official decision, and the ref is vigorously shaking his head right back, leaving both big girls eyeing each other warily from across the ring. And for a moment, it looks as if this fight is set to continue right here and now! But Isabeli is held back by her own trainers, who herd her out of the ring. Petra goes back to celebrating with her own cornermates, whereas Isabeli already vowing revenge to reporters backstage, who are clambering over each other in order to get an interview with the latest rookie prospect, after a better-than-expected debut!
