Before: Suddenly a very intriguing match up--Knightley the most improved fighter in the FCBA no longer long odds against Williams--in fact--many British sports books have her opening as a slight favourite! Opinion not shared Stateside--BLONDE! Mag’s “Clocker’s Corner” handicapper explains: “Mish Williams has been taking apart taller girls her whole life--and that’s Knightley’s whole advantage. We feel once Mish gets over the whole ‘wonder of Keira’ stage, she’ll own this brunette, most likely by devastating 7th round KO.” Keira’s shown grit, sauce, ‘tude to go with rangy raw-boned skills--she’ll need them to offset the ferocity and volume of a veteran former champ. Williams in black push up and panties, white lace trim, Keira in tan hide bikini, rawhide strips tied around her left bicep, high ponytail with messy forelocks, Girls making glaring eye contact during ring instructions, refusing to touch gloves: this could get ugly.

During R1: Keira right at her jaw, left at her chest, elbows in, wheeling pivots, some jabs, but she’s fighting closer than expected, picking Mish up left uppercuts, straight rights, and hopeful left hooks down the flank to nag at the body. Mish: crouching torso movement, hands at her chest, head a moving target--she’s spitting jabs to the center of Keira’s chest, throwing wanton right hands and mopping up hooks. Keira can make Mish miss twice, but Williams throwing the third punch often connecting as Knightley’s completing her pivot--makes for rousing exchanges, better round than  expected from an action standpoint--Knightley refusing to really use the ring, preferring to swivel in close and collect points off Mish’s chin and waist.

R2: Same again--crowd into the compelling look of tall girl shortening up her strokes and looking to lick combinations--shorter girl rifling murderous punches in bunches--very busy fight. Midway through, Keira weight on left foot, picks Mish up the left uppercut--Mish takes it well. Leans in with a pinging right off the tip of Keira’s chin--Knightley jerked to her right, TAKES A SEAT! Mish batting her gloves together and hooting bat the sudden change in fortune. Swaying 8 for Keira--her lips say “yes’, but her glassy eyes and queasy knees are mumbling “no--I’m hurt“--ON COMES MISH! Williams waltzing in hands at her chest--little shoulder turn to her right as Keira pushes out a feeble jab and a SMASHING right hand receipt cashes in Keira’s chin! Knightley’s eyes roll up like a cheap set of venetian blinds--she’s ouit on her feet, lolling against the ropes a moment before sliding left to crash on her face. Stunning halt--KO2 Mish Williams!

After: Williams strutting it up, hooting and thumping her chest--some crass moments of celebration when Mish and HISC cronies mock sleeping Keira with bad imitations--all in good fun to be sure, Good match up on paper doesn’t materialize--Williams finding the chin with every ounce o venom in that little body: Keira can’t take the heat.
