Julie b building a little momentum these days--punched out by Liu, otherwise looking like typical angular, classy boxing bantam with gatekeeper aspirations. She got a tough test I this one--Burke came to fight and kept after Julie all night long, but in the end, blonde class edged brunette determination down the stretch.
Bowen’s defense was the difference, as Burke rarely showed any to speak if. Julie was adept at changing distance, working in and out, startling Burke with jabs and ringing her up with right crosses--there were several minutes throughout the fight in which Burke simply couldn’t find her elusive foe.
But give her credit--Brooke never stopped working, and her come-forward diligence was rewarded in the second half. Missing 2 or even 3 punches, Brooke would often clean up on the fourth or fifth, unless Julie managed t counter in between--and as often as not, the brunette would land the hardest punch of any exchange. Indeed, heavy Brooke punching to Julie’s temples and forehead buckled blonde knees in the 9th and 10th heats, prompting Bowen clinches as Burke finished the fight the stronger vixen.
Julie gets the points and continues to rebuild post-Liu. Brooke gets respect, and is also said to be in the Aniston sweepstakes as a result of a good showing in this one.
