Results: Simguy; Story: Archer.

Erica Cerra enjoying a gratifying shot of momentum following her win over Piper Perabo, her first FCBA victory. “Eureka” actress now looking to take on Cote de Pablo of “NCIS”. Both girls serious in preflight. “This fight is important to me,” Erica says, “I need to prove my win over Perabo was no fluke, though I will admit knocking off a Big 3 hit show actress would give me a good feeling.” For Cote, her last fight was a TKO loss to Piper Perabo, can she beat the girl who beat her? “I certainly can. I want a rematch with Piper but I’m not likely to get it any time soon unless I prove I can beat the girl who snapped her winning streak. Erica’s tough, but I am tougher--as she and everyone else will soon find out.”

Erica in black bikini, small black gloves and hair pulled back into tight ponytail. Cote in royal blue bikini, halter top, hair pulled back into elaborate battle braid with blue ribbon wound through it.

During R1: Cote shows a very orthodox stance, right hand up as she jabs stiff-left. Erica with her shoulder hunch, chin tucked and moving forward steadily with a weaving jab of her own. Erica finally able to penetrate Cote’s jab, but de Pablo won’t back down and the two exchange fiercely on the inside, scoring enough to win her the round.

R2: Erica continues to pressure her way in past Cote’s jab to force exchanges in close once she’s gotten inside. Several slam-bang exchanges bring roars of excitement from the crowd. However, most of the round is Cote keeping cool, still jabbing effectively and piling up the points to win her second round of the night.

R3: Cerra seems to be timing Cote’s jab as this round sees her moving past the poke much more quickly and thus keeping on de Pablo for much longer periods. Cote starts being forced back and the showing reddening to the face and body as Erica starts landing punishing hooks.

R4: Erica again weaves her way back in and gets forehead to forehead with Cote de Pablo. Both girls grimacing with the effort as they bang away. Erica able to establish that hook wide behind Cote’s elbow, really pummeling to the flank and the effect is seen as Cote’s workrate drops over the course of the round.

R5: Erica continues the pressure in this stanza, again going inside on Cote, but this time she broadens her attack. De Pablo hangs in, grimly fighting back in bashing exchanges as the two stand toe to toe, but Erica again cuts Cote’s workrate by the bell as she uses up her opponent with the steady attack. Cote moving slowly back to her corner, while Erica moves more smoothly though maintaining a serious, focused expression.

R6: Erica’s fight plan has been successful so far so she continues it this round. Again, Erica able to weave her way past the Cote de Pablo jab and force de Pablo into close in action. Cote continues to fight back, landing some good punches, but just not discouraging Cerra’s growing pressure. Late in the round, Erica having worked those ribs for the first two minutes to draw down Cote’s defenses, switches to a furious flurry of jabs, hooks and crosses to de Pablo’s face. Cote’s head snapped back, then swiveled to left and to the right, her blue ribboned ponytail whipping around in a spray of sweat. Cote remains on her feet, but her face is now swollen and reddening as the bell rings. Cote also showing damage from that sustained behind-the-elbow attack and moving more stiffly from it. Sharp-eyed ringsiders think they see signs Cote de Pablo is breaking down.

R7: Erica on the high pressure offensive once again as she moves in fast to ring up Cote early with a some nice hooks to the chin. COTE DE PABLO GOES WOBBLY BUTT! Cote stays up on trembling legs, but she retreats to the ropes with Erica walking her down relentlessly. Cote tries to clinch, but Erica able to evade these for the most part, set up her rival, who goes face-in-gloves, and punish her for long minutes to the bell. Cote has to steady herself by leaning against the top rope before trying to make the long trip to her corner. Erica Cerra looking very determined in her corner, ready to get back at her battered opponent.

R8: It’s starting to look like Erica-on-Cote-All-the-Time as Cerra goes right for de Pablo as soon as the bell rings and pummels away. She’s actually using a variety of punches now, straight rights, crosses, and, of course that wide hook behind the elbow. Every shot to the ribs now drawing a clear look of pain from Cote, but her face is looking worse by minute. Left eye is swelling ominously, blood trickles from split lip and one nostril. Cote can finally retreats to the ropes, cover up and suffers. De Pablo’s increasingly desperate efforts at clinching are well-handled by Erica as maintains her onslaught. By round’s end Cote is definitely showing signs of exhaustion by now, but she continues to send out the occasional defiant punch flurries to show she’s still fighting back.

R9: Erica sensing Cote is on the verge comes out this round with even more pressure, forcing de Pablo to the ropes once again for increasingly heavy punishment. Cote bravely tries to keep her hands up, but she is unable to mount any kind of counterpunching. The ref lets the go on and on for two long minutes until it is totally one-sided. AND THE REF FINALLY JUMPS IN! Cote de Pablo slumps into the man’s arms as he cradles her to safety. Erica Cerra raises her mitts, allowing herself to smile broadly for this first time tonight as she takes a TKO9 victory.

After: Erica’s stoic façade cracks in the post fight. Eyes shining, she eagerly tells reporters that: “This should prove that I belong right up there with the serious division contenders--girls like Britney Spears, Neve Campbell, Olivia Munn--the brawny bantam type. I’m one of them now!” Maybe, but more cautious scribes want to see more. No problem. C-Bad soon announces it’s booked Erica to fight blonde Poppy Montgomery.
