Before: Mendes back to 119, ready to resume bantam operations after a successful demolition of Sofia Vergara at lightweight - Eva's one of those fighters who looks better against strength than she does speed. "I'm fighting Jovovich to show that I can handle her quicks. That, and I want to knock her out because she thinks she's this big movie star but she's really just a tramp. I want to prove that there's nothing a girl can do against me at 120: speed, technique, or power - I'm gonna dominate whatever, whomever." Jovovich not ranked, but she's victimized a lot of big names in her career - can she add Eva to the hit list? "Mendes hurts whatever she hits," Mila smiles, "but I don't plan on cooperating with her. I'll be a busy little bee - stinging her, hovering around her, always just out of reach. Eva's like any bully - discourage her and she quits inside - she's really only effective when she's hurting her opponents." Jovovich in punching peach string bikini, brown shoulder length curls. Eva in lavender string bikini, scruffy punching ponytail. White mitts, both vixens.

During R1: Eva scowling, dukes collected loose beneath her chin as she steps-to Mila. Jovovich on her toes, feinting, stepping to either side. Mila stooping to jab at Eva's tummy, or stinging Mendes briskly about the breasts - Jovovich's left hand zippy early. Mendes staying well within herself - not reaching for Mila or biting on feints - she walks Jovo down, bangs her flanks nice-n'-rangy right/lefts, jabs heavily to chest or brow and looks to establish that sliding right hand off the shoulder. Mendes round - Mila unhurt, but obviously taking no chances toe-to-toe.

R2: Jovo still peppering Eva the jab - reaching it on tummy, really spanking it home to breasts - Mendes frowning in complaint at the touch. Eva a little late with receipts - Mila doing a wonderful job preventing Mendes from setting her feet, always feinting or touching Eva stick, sidestepping then dropping quick one-twos from the angle. Mila not looking to hurt Eva - just touching and vexing, keeping Mendes off balance. Eva pursuing, not moving her hands much as she's rarely comfortable enough with her position to get off.

R3: Eva picking up her feet this round, cuts off the round better, getting on top of Jovovich with stiff jabs leading into thudding right/lefts to body. Mila able spin off ropes, keeping her back clear - but she absorbs rangy shellack in spots this round - Mendes able to land in licking 2s and 3s as Jovo covers up, then splits.

R4: MENDES GETS DROPPED! Eva a little lazy coming in, paws her jab, telegraphs her right: Jovovich able to squirt a pre-emptive one-two onto Eva's mouth before Mendes can react - just like that Mendes on her butt. Eva blushing crimson, batting her mitts impatiently as ref gives her 8 - she looks ready to go, but Mila pounces, connects on another one-two up the middle to put Mendes ropeside. Eva dukes at temples, looking uncertain - Mila attacking and disengaging in rapid thrusts: one-twos up top; sharp biting hooks gouging at the Mendes midsection. Mila keeps Eva bottled up bell to bell - stab-thrusting hard jabs, working in and out, testing the body as well as Mendes' sturdy guard up top. Jovovich looking fresh, vigorous and pesky through 4.

R5: Is the bully getting discouraged? Jovovich circling, leaning in on front foot with challenging grin, bright eyes and frisky 'tude - leading with either hand to Eva's scowling face, or stoop-jabbing that tanned tummy. Jovovich getting cute - walking to her right, then suddenly stamping out the lead right hand from a screened stance - sometimes just throwing rapid right hands alone - stamping away at Eva's guard and breasts, occasionally squirting through to tap face. Mila using the ring like a champ - stepping out on Eva and pivoting away from pressure. Meanwhile - Mendes growing sullen, sulking a little - still walking Mila down, but not jabbing, not cutting off the ring.

R6: Jovo pounces - nails Eva a lead right hand between the mitts - steps-with backpedalling Mendes and taps away straight left/rights all the way to ropes. Hard hook amidships wins a grunt from Mendes: Jovovich leaning away from angry receipt as Eva sails a hook; Mila back in with a drilling one-two against Eva's exposed left cheek. Mendes wobbly butt - startled - she tries to swing away off the ropes but gets managed beautifully as Jovovich fades the pressure, slips the punches with cute torso-bobbing, then scores a tidy hook to Eva's teeth. Mendes stumbling around, falling apart - Mila pouncing in and out, eyes bright as she keeps touching, tapping, poking. Mendes hounded sideways to ropes under the whirlwind assault - Jovo pops hips-right and hooks Eva's paunch a beaut, bunching Mendes up a-groaning. Chup-chup rising right/left cuffs Eva's jugs; swatting right on the left ear as Mila deliver's from her left foot, then gets ALL of Eva's chin a tidy right uppercut off the right foot. Dazzling display of Eastern European pursuit boxing - no one punch a real killer, but the constant clean contact buckling Eva's knees all the same. Jovoich hurting Mendes on several occasions, but never overstaying her welcome - Mila willing to tap and get away clean for the shutout rather than go for the outright stoppage. Mendes busting up, cranky, slightly wobbly-butt after an embarrassing 6th puts her well behind on all cards.

R7: Eva forward, pumping out the jab with a little more enthusiasm: renewed aggression enough to keep Mila on the ring periphery, feinting and jabbing from well outside. Mila in constant motion, never letting Mendes draw a bead - Eva being the aggressor, steadily winning the round until Jovovich's quickness stuns Latina late. Mendes leaning forward with her left extended: Mila drops a tasty little pull-counter right over top; snap-hooks Eva's mouth; drops another right cross onto chin and EVA SPLUTTERS TO ALL FOURS! Mendes up quickly, bitterly disappointed and stomping her foot in frustration - but it's another 10-8 against her in a round she had been controlling to that point. During the break, corner does a good job of keeping Eva's head in the game - calming the high-spirited fighter, refocusing her, reminding her that Mila isn't in her league.

R8: Mendes composed - dukes looks beneath her chin - she's stepping with authority again, jabbing between Mila's shoulders just to range-in on the elusive brunette. Jovovich still jitterbugging around, perplexing Eva at times with all the head movement and footwork - but Mendes workmanlike, cuts off the ring, starts to unleash that oily, elastic right hand off her shoulder to Mila's mouth. Midway through, Eva stepping-long to land a light jab, then a vicious, lanky right that misses over the top as Mila ducks in time. Eva licks the come-back hook off her hip, carving a rising path up and to her right, catching Mila perfectly on the chin as Jovovich straightens out of her crouch just a hair too late. Sensational head-swivel, Jovovich - upperbody tosses backwards as her legs lock up - she hits canvas hard, head and both arms bouncing slack off the mat, and she is OUT. KO8 in spectacular fashion - Eva Mendes!

After: Mendes hands high, bellowing - lovely Latina was getting her backside tanned a bit in this one before the big eraser took care of Mila. Jovovich out on her back for many scary moments - suddeness of the collapse a frightening sight: one moment, Mila's a bouncy, vivacious vixen, well on her way to a points victory over a big name starlet; the next moment, Mila lies still, lips parted, helpless. "I'm too much," a puffy but exuberant Eva crows in postfight. "One hit from me - just one - and these girls are going OUT! She did her thing - she showed me her leg, she tricked me a couple of times with her stuff, but bottom line: she wasn't hurting me. I had this fight won pretty early on - I knew I'd walk her down and get her sooner or later, because she wasn't taking anything out of me at all."
