Before: Theron opens her defense of the welter belts against sturdy Brenneman--Charlize entitled to savour the championship, take a couple of optional while she waits for super fight to gel. Brenneman a classic punching welter, very solid underfoot, nothing flashy--if she can get to the ribcage consistently, she can be competitive. Amy in red high neck aerobics two piece, black shoes and gloves. Charlize in cream bikini, white shoes and gloves.

During R1: Theron gliding, dancing to her left, hands jangling loose at her waist in syncopation, Brenneman stalking, moving her head, bringing her hands repeatedly to her eyebrows as she tries to cut down the ring, Midway through, Charlize off her back foot drops a slick counter  right hand over Amy’s extended left, shaving chin and putting Brenneman wobbly butt. Theron scoots left, darts in, lifts a chop-chop left/right off her hips into Amy’s face, leans back on her hips with her hands down as she sidesteps the crumbling brunette, then a sucker left hand from an oblique angle, landing with the heel of the glove in Brenneman’s unsuspecting stomach.. Theron taking advantage of Amy’s hurt and confusion, putting a hand behind Brenneman’s elbow and simply turning her off balance., cuffing and swatting with loose-limbed, rising lefts and rights, then turning Amy with her other elbow. Brenneman staggery,  wide-eyed--Theron slaps the ngirl’s full buttock as they pass shoulder to shoulder.

R2: Shutout Charlize Theron. This is pretty stuff--Charlize legs are her defense, hands are low, she’s gliding, bouncing, leaning to her left, Blonde punching with a rhythmic, snapping delivery in synch with her movement, hands chop and slap at Amy’s face, then follow through low as Theron stays relaxed, Whenever Amy gets grave, Theron stops, chops a cycling left/right in between the gloves and pivots crisply to one side or the other, leaving Brenneman staring at air.

R3: Amy has a better round, remembering her own jab, and useful if unremarkable footwork. Theron hounded into a corner--she bounces nicely off the adjacent ropes, leaning into Amy with her shoulder or palming the brunette’s shoulders, just enough to keep Brenneman off balance and preventing the heavier girl from bodying up. Amu in a crouch, eyes intent, lands some bashing wide shots to Charlize sleek torso this round, missing the herad however as Theron puts on a slipping clinic, Brenneman the effective aggressor, puts some mileage on Theron’s dancer’s legs this round.

R4,5: Back to business for Charlize--on her toes, circling to her left, hands bouncing and suddenly licking at Amy as the brunette continues to chase with her face. Theron never more elegant than tonight--a pleasure for purists to watch her use the ring, control Brenneman’s position with her movement, touch Brenneman with stinging, accurate punches and catch very little in the way of receipt. Amy lumping up and frustrated at the bell--her shot is slipping away.

R6: Theron backhanding her jab, leaning away from Amy’s responses, getting the brunette to reach and a quick counter right hand over the jab has Brenneman stepping in fence post holes again. Amy not picking that punch up very well and Theron moves in with a batting, rising left hand, palming Amy hard in the chin, backing the brunette up with a burst. Charlize so accurate as she hops forward, clouting and swiping Amy’s face as the  brunette collapses--girls hit the ropes side by side with Charlize continuing to cuff at Amy from the oblique angle. Theron gets big, showing legitimate welter strength in pinning Brenneman to the ropes--beefy shove and slug ensues as Theron chooses to get sweaty. Brenneman  digging in, rolling her shoulders in close, pulls some thudding hooks into Charlize’s body, but the blonde’s ripping combinations in response are leaving Amy shattered. Down the stretch, Charlize in wide stance, leans in off her back foot to swat the right hand, leans onto her back foot to swipe hooks across Amy’s face, and making Amy iss by inches just by turning her shoulder and bending to either side with her punches. Brenneman busted up and swooning at the bell as Charlize nods her head in satisfaction.

R7,8.9.10: Charlize at play. The legs never stop their maddening dance--she’s always just dangling outside Amy’s stretch, ready to dart in and sting the brunette’s face wit loose-limbed, chopping strokes. Theron lifting her mitts off her stomach to drop them left/right onto Amy, then flitting away, hands down as Brenneman can only blink, suffer and come forward. Theron also utilizing a stinging lead right between the eyes--sending cattle prod-type stinger through Amy’s legs and forcing the brunette to backpedal on occasion. Charlize wrong footing Amy whenever she wants, easily stepping around either brawny brunette shoulder--blonde constantly putting her hands on Amy, pushing and guiding the brunette, taking ownership of Brenneman midring. After 10, Amy’s got that 1000-yard stare, face shiny from hurt--she doesn’t throw a meaningful punch in the tenth as Theron completes a discouraging UD10 by wide margin.

After: one of Charlize’s most comprehensive performances at welter, total dominance of a solid division name--exactly what you want to see out of an interim defense. Theron masterful in every aspect of this fight, especially with regard to discipline--she rarelty gave Brenneman any kind of opportunity to fight her own fight.
