The fourth fight of the night features Alex Curran (1-0, 1 KO) against veteran Suranne Jones (3-3-1, 3 KO). Curran enjoyed a successful BBU debut on August 27th when she stopped Elize du Toit in Round Four. Jones has fought two times this year and lost on both occassions. There is more at stake here though as Curran hails from Merseyside while Jones represents the Manchester area instead. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Alex Curran wearing black bikini top, black mini-skirt and red gloves. Suranne Jones wearing white bikini top, white mini-skirt and red gloves.

Round 1:
Both girls start with a lot of respect to each other. Alex stopped Elize du Toit pretty easily, but Suranne has also defeated this woman even quicker, inside the first round. There is a lot of single punches from both sides and neither girl tries to launch an early attack. As a result there is hardly any damage caused as both Alex and Suranne are happy to circle around the ring.

Round 2:
Similar approach for Suranne who is happy to wait for Alex to step forward. The blonde finally delivers a good combination, but Suranne covers that well and responds with couple of hooks that force the blonde to back off. Both women have lowered their arms and seem to be happy applying this waiting tactics. Alex moves forward a little bit as the rounds nears it's end, but Suranne watches her carefully and avoids any real threat.

Round 3:
It's getting quite boring now and the crowd don't really enjoy it. There isn't much activity before Suranne finally launches a big hook that catches Alex in the stomach. The blonde tries to duck away but the brunette hassles her along the ropes and traps in the corner. A couple of big hooks miss Alex's head though as she weaved around Suranne's gloves. Alex clinches well and pushes her rival away before delivering some low jabs into Suranne's midsection. Much more offensive round but still there's nothing to chose between them.

Round 4:
It's Curran the first one to lose her patience as she attacks her rival from the start of round four. Suranne is slightly surprised at first and allows the blonde to push herself back into teh corner. Alex takes advantage of her efforts and pummels the brunette's ribs before a solid uppercut catches Suranne in the jaw. Jones wobbles on her knees but clinches with Curran who tries to push her away. A bit of shenanigans going on along the ropes and the referee has to separate both girls. Suranne raises her guard and avoids any further damage as Curran's jabs are bouncing off Jones' gloves like a wall. It's very ineffective now from the Merseyside woman, but she continues on her fruitless attacks until the bell ends the round.

Round 5:
Jones is happy to let Curran pounce on the early charge again. This time another big swing catches the brunette in the ribs but she responds with a quick uppercut that completely surprises the hitherto confident blonde. Suranne's hook skimmed off Alex's jaw and she was more lucky then good in avoiding a knockdown. However she quickly realizes the danger and moves back. Suranne doesn't allow her to escape from the ropes though and delivers her strongest offensive challenge to date as she peppers the blonde's stomach and two more hooks catch Curran in the side of the head. A good round for Jones who definitely takes it.

Round 6:
Alex is upset about the previous round and wants to change the momentum but Suranne easily gaurds off any of her attempts. It's been a frustrating night for Curran so far and Suranne slowly but surely gets the psychological advantage. She continues with some single jabs and hooks and throws a combination or two to keep the blonde at bay and further enhance her frustration. Alex has done nothing to secure the sixth round in her favor and Suranne jabs her in the stomach numerous times before the bell sounds. Jones takes this round.

Round 7:
A solid start from Alex in round seven as she catches Suranne in the side of the head but the brunette clinches along the ropes and pushes the blonde away. Alex continues her attack but is unable to break her opponent's guard. Finally she delivers a low blow to Suranne's midsection who immediately waives to the referee in disgust. Alex Curran has received an official warning for this trick. Suranne is visibly upset and delivers a series of hooks which push the blonde away back to her corner. Suranne follows up and begins pounding Alex's guard which finally breaks and Suranne scores a series of easy punches straight in Curran's face. However bell saves the blonde from being knocked out and this makes Jones melt in anger inside.

Round 8:
Suranne goes off strongly in the eight round and looks to finish Alex off for good. However the blonde clinches immediately and the action is limited for a long time. Suranne is upset, but referee allows Alex to bide her time with very passive approach. Finally the brunette pushes her rival away and jabs her in the face. Alex didn't raise her gloves quickly enough and is forced to weave away from her rival along the ropes. Suranne chases her around but she avoids any serious damage and survives into round nine.

Round 9:
Suranne abandons her aggression and looks like she's convinced of taking a points victory regardless of what happens in the final two rounds. She waits for Alex to come forward and has moved on with her anger. Alex takes her time but finally steps in and catches Suranne in the face with a wild hook. This stuns the brunette and allows Curran to trap her in the corner where further hooks land on Suranne's stomach and ribs. Equally wild uppercut then lands on Suranne's jaw and forces the brunette to clinch her way out of trouble. it's suddenly all about Curran who continues to land punch after punch on the helpless Jones. Somehow the brunette escapes the knockout as Alex has shown signs of fatigue towards the end of the round. However the blonde has secured her best round of the night and remains in with a shout of victory.

Round 10:
The will is still there from both girls but the ninth round really took the steam out of both of them. They really look tired now and barely land a solid punch. It's very chaotic and ugly boxing. Suranne is happy to clinch and even some single punches from Alex don't have any real force behind them. The crowd cheers them on for one final push for glory but it's not happening. More wild and fruitless jabs follow but with 30 seconds remaining on the clock Suranne finally lands one on Alex's jaw which forces the blonde on the ropes. However the brunette is too slow on her feet and by the time she moves for the follow up, Curran has ducked away to the corner. Suranne completely lowers her gloves and watches Alex still holding her guard high, but the bell ends the fight before either of them can do anything further. Both girls raise their gloves in a winning gesture, but neither of them is really convinced it would be a straight-forward verdict.

After ten round of boxing we go the scorecards:

Judge Kieran Dyer (England) scores the bout 99-97
Judge Luc Alphand (France) scores the bout 99-95
Judge Goran Ivanisevic (Croatia) scores the bout 98-96

all in favor of the winner SURANNE JONES !!!! who improves her record to 4-3-1, 3 KO!

Suranne nods her head in approval and begins a walk around the ring saluting the crowd. There are some boos and screams but a good deal of applause as well. Meanwhile Alex looks shocked at first and then visibly upset as she storms out of the ring and ignores everyone around her. That's one very angry loser heading back into the locker room.

Final score: Suranne Jones def. Alex Curran UD10.
