Before: Good comeback for Alba post-pregnancy: she parlays some mature, feisty wins into yet another title bid. "Everywhere I go," Jessica says in prefight, "people always ask me: 'when are you going to restore some prestige and glamour to the bantamweight title?' You see - as much as fans respect Missy as champion, they're yearning for something more. Missy wins fights, but there's no magic - no stardust - you know what I mean? I provide that - I give the people victories, but I also brighten their dreary lives and give them a reason to keep going. The hum-drum reign of Missy Peregrym is drawing to a close, to be followed by a glorious sunburst of hope! I can't deny that Jessica brings something special to a fight - clearly she does, and clearly this is MY biggest fight to date. But when I beat her - when she's humbled - some of that specialness transfers to me. That's what she's forgetting in all of this. Midway through, Jess sells body poke, but brings jagged left uppercut instead: Alba standing up on her left leg, tugging viciously on Peregrym's chin. Missy hurt - spasming on the spot, then showing a panicky earmuff: Alba tilting forward on that lead (left) leg rips another left uppercut, then a bandy-limbed hook, neatly toggling Missy's chin. Peregrym sputtering to her left: Alba bounces in, jams a sliding, straight right hand to mouth off her left plant-leg - knocking Missy's head dramatically back. Peregrym stumbling to ropes, eyes wide, glassy: she's crumbling, knows she's got to rally against Jessi's lanky onslaught. Alba loping in - showing a little yo-yo right hand, yanking it back to torque a savage hook instead, swiping Missy palm-down across the mouth. Right uppercut off the back (right) foot - Jessi all bendy-backed, clippin' the punch short to chin. Jess tilts forward onto left foot, clips Missy a short left uppercut: Peregrym drooping forward, taking punches on her face in between frozen gloves. Jess shifts weight to back (right) foot, pulling hook across Missy's startled mouth; Jess leans in onto left leg again, slinging right hand short n' chopping to Missy's jaw. Peregrym topples awkardly into ropes on her right shoulder, body going limp: Jessica has time to dig a dip-n'-rip left uppercut to Missy's body before Peregrym can slump to canvas. It's so, SO over: KO2 for the once and future queen - Jessica Alba!

After: Ringing victory for Jessica dismantles the most dominant bantam champ of 2008, leaving Missy sprawled on her back, mumbling in shock. Alba blubbering, giddy, hugging her followers, then composing herself to receive golden belts. "I knew I would take these back," Alba crows in postfight, shifting heavy leather on her shoulder and waist. "I knew it when I took Dushku out that I would claim Missy if we ever got down to it. When I took the scales at the weigh-in - I forced eye contact on Missy and she was like 'OMG - I'm in with Jessica freaking Alba...GULP!' It was beauty killed the beast, baby - glamour has a new hammer! I am now, once again, the most dominant force in the division, and I'll look to prove that in the biggest fights this division has ever seen, in 2009." Kate Beckinsale putting an immediate offer sheet in front of Jessica's people, looking for a big A-list type superfight to kick off the new year.
