Whitehaven Beach – The Whitsundays
Before: The Downunder girls flew in a few days early to catch a few rays by the pool at the Qualia Resort. It is rumoured that the Foxfire girls were there also, and they shared a few big nights at the private Long Pavilion bar. A bit of a bond was formed between the two stables, until it came to the day they had to board the Ragamuffin and head over to the pristine Whitehaven beach. Everything became quite serious and they stayed at either ends of the boat.
“Hayden Panettiere is the ultimate opponent for me. Knowing how I fair against her gives me the best indication of where I am at and what I can achieve. She is the champ” says Browning of her beach side brawl against the FCBA Flyweight Champ.
“I’ve seen Browning fight a few times, but her last win over Emilie De Ravin was most impressive. She also made light work of Samia Smith who I plan to fight real soon. So this should be a really good test of her character, to fight “one of the most dominant flywieghts in the FCBA” so the press say”.
This one will be fought in a ring with a slightly sandy base.
Both girls in their country coloured bikinis. Emily in the Downunder Green and Gold with the boxing kangaroo across her butt, Hayden in the stars and stripes.
Round 1
Browning coming on strong at the champ, in and under working the body. Panny unexpecting, backing up and taking early shots to the ribs. BIG HOOK TO THE RIBCAGE by Browing, Panny forced to retreat, jabbing away at Browning but she’s covering up well. Midway through and Browning switches to the high guard of the champ, throwing stiff jabs. Panny ducking and weaving and finally landing the odd body shot. The champ looking a little shell shocked but settles in throughtout the final minute. Panny matching Brownings body shots, taking solid blows but returning crunching shots to the ribs, NICE RIGHT HOOK to the Browning ribcage and that has her skipping away at the bell.
Nice round there by Browning, surprising the champ with attack tactics early o and just doing enough to take the round. Panny got a good look at every Browning trick there.
Round 2
Browning on the defensive early, Panny throwing quick jabs to no effect. Browning backing away, slipping the jab then sneaking in an under at the champs belly. Midway through Browning goes the surprise attack again, getting under the jab and blasting powerful hooks at Panny’s ribs, PANNY HURT, she winces as Browning lands AN UPPERCUT TO THE CHEST! CHAMP DOWN! Browning grinning from ear to ear, Panny more or less stumbling with the power from that shot, quick to her feet but knocked down none the less. Fight continues with Browning on the attack, jabbing away at Pannys face, Panny clinching then pushing off, ducking the jab, clinching and trying to work the body. Browning getting the odd jab to chin close in at the bell.
All Browning that round with the surprise knockdown of the champ. Panny stunned by the power of the punch. Very quick to her feet and finishing the round off although not landing anything.
Round 3
Browning continues to jab away at Panny’s face, the odd one getting through the guard but Panny is clinching. Ref forces them apart but she clinches again blasting shots into Browning ribs. Panny clinching again but pushes away LANDS A SOLID UPPERCUT on Brownings chin, the little aussie rocked by that shot and ON COMES THE CHAMP! Blistering hooks and crosses at Brownings face, has the aussies head snapping sideways, Browning all covered up on the ropes, the champ blasting shots at all openings through the middle, Browning clinching but the Champ pushes her away, Panny propping her up with the uppercut then driving in the STRAIGHT JAB and DOWN GOES BROWNING! Falls in a heap at the champs feet. Takes a beating there but gets to her feet at 7 nursing a cut to the right eye and a bloody nose. PANNY RAINING PUNCHES to the bell, Browning looks to be out on her feet.
Nikki and Elle straight into the ring to help Browning back to the corner but she is shrugging them off. Destructive round from the champ. Hayden may be down on points but well in control of this fight now.
Round 4
BELL TO BELL DESTRUCTION from the champ. Panny dismantling Browning piece by piece. Power shots raining down on the little aussies face. Hooks ripping into her ribcage and uppercuts rocking her head back and forth. How is she staying up? Panny playing with her a little could probably knock her down, Ref in close watching the eyes. Browning throwing everything in return but Panny just ducks and weaves and blasts another brutal shot into the aussies bludgeoned face. Browing a sight for sore eyes at the bell.
Hayden Panettiere, the FCBA Flyweight champ proving her worth there. Browning in all sorts of trouble, right eye swelling and cut, bleeding from the nose. It’s only a matter of time before this ends.

Round 5
Browning slow to her feet, lets Panny come to her and immediately clinchs as Panny tries to finish it. Panny throwing stiff jabs but the Browning guard is strong and she again clinchs. Panny frustrated throughout the first minute. Continues to throw punches but the aussie girl is protecting everything, clinching, not throwing punches. Final minute Browing finally out of the clinch and getting in and under to the champs mid section but this opens it up for another barrage of Panny punches, ENORMOUS RIGHT UPPERCUT lifts Browning 6 inches of her feet but she stays upright on the bell.
Brave performance by Browning to stay in the fight there but Panny gets that round. The Browing right eye is a worry, starting to close up. Her corner work at stopping the bleeding from the nose.
Round 6
Panny still searching for the knockout, stiff jabs catching Browning on the nose, followed by sweeping hooks that rock the aussies guard, Browning trying to slip underneath and work the body but Panny is keeping her at bay. Mid way through Browning lands two solid hooks to the champs torso and BACKS THE CHAMP UP! Panny retreating as Browning POURS IT ON, all hooks and uppercuts to the champs face. Panny’s guard a shambles getting rocked by powerful shots and there’s the RIGHT HOOK sending the champ sideways to the corner, Pannys knees buckle, as Browning fires shot after shot at the champs vacant face. The bell saving Panny from a certain knock down. AND PANNY STUMBLES TO THE WRONG CORNER!
Brownings defence troubling Panny over those two rounds and she dominated the second half of that round with a powerful body shot and a barrage of shots to the champs head. Big round Browning, She might have levelled it there. That eye is almost shut.
Round 7
Browning continuing the punishment through the first half of the round. Panny bunched up taking hard shots to her ribs, Browning swiping at the high guard of Panny, not landin to the face, now gets THE RIGHT HOOK through and Panny rides the bike backwards to the ropes, looks like she might do down but falls into the clinch. Browning pounding away at the champs ribs in the clinch as the Ref forcs Panny away. ON COMES BROWING, STRAIGHT JAB to the nose drives Panny back to the ropes, she’s blinking it off, mouth agape as Browning blasts away at her mid section. Reefing hooks into her gut. Panny clinching again and getting a couple of shots to the Browning torso, first time in the round. Browning resetting as Panny hurts her with a stiff jab in the gut and there’s the bell.
The champ exposed by some brutal power punching. Browning tiring towards the end, could not put Panny down. That round puts Browning ahead in the fight.
Round 8
Browning charges in, has Panny bunny hopping on one leg as she rams hooks at the champs sore ribs, Panny wincing as the aussie is down low and mauling her mid section. POWERFUL HOOK to the gut has Panny buckled over covering up, SHE’S HURT. Browning switching it upstairs with clever little jabs. There’s some quick combinations of jabs and hooks, backing Panny up to the ropes again, CHAMP CUT, bleeding above the eye. Panny confused, tries to dance away but keeps getting in the way of the jab, throws a wild hook that catches the aussies forehead and Browning backs off for the first time in the round. Both girls adjusting shorts and moving in again, both down low swinging at the body, Browning on top with a few solid hooks the champs ribs and Panny less effective to the bell.
Another big round to the aussie. Signs that she can’t finish the champ although she is dominating in every area. I have it 5 rounds to 3, Panny needs to pull something out if she is to win this. Dreadful cut below the champs right eye has the corner working feaverishly.
Round 9
Panny leading with stiff jabs at the aussies face, but she is ducking and weaving and landing blows on the champs bruised belly. Punch for punch, Panny to the chin, Browning to the ribs, missing one for every shot that lands. Midway through the champs head punching gets the better of Browning, backing her up with some text book jabs and a nice uppercut which shakes up the aussie. Panny again showing signs of her champ status. Final minute and both girls are SLOGGING IT OUT midring, Panny’s struggling against the evasive Browning who is slipping shots and blasting several of her own into Panny’s ribs. OH THE RIGHT HOOK Browning finds the spot on Panny’s rib cage, she bends left, Browning crouching into the left uppercut followed by the RIGHT UPPERCUT on the champs exposed chin and DOWN GOES PANNY! CHAMP DOWN AGAIN. Panny flattened by the signature uppercut from Browning, slow to move Panny, Browning patient as the champ gets to her knees…saved by the bell.
Emily Browning taking another round against the champ. Panny in a lot of trouble, bleeding profusely from the right eye, bloody nose, cut and swollen lip. The champ looking punch drunk as the falls to her stool. Can browning finish her? Her corner also working on her wounds.
Round 10
Amazing scenes as both girls circle, it’s like a searching first round. Browning jabbing, Panny coming underneath and clinching, slogging at Browning’s kidneys, she has both hands up pleading with the ref who forces them apart. Panny continues to clinch and slog the kidneys, encouraging Browning to beat the side of Panny’s head. Ref forces them apart again and Panny gets in a sneaky jab to the aussie chin, followed by another, both girls throwing feathery jabs at each other through the middle. Brownings punches fading. OH PRECISION RIGHT HOOKS backing both girls up and the tyraid of punches begins. Panny/Browning blasting jabs, hooks, uppercuts, at each others heads. Guards away as it is an all out slogfest. RIGHT HOOK BROWNING, LEFT HOOK PANNY, RIGHT UPPERCUT BROWNING, the champ backing away and then FIRING THE RIGHT HOOK to the Browning temple DOWN GOES BROWNING! The champ staying put where Browning fell, that punch sending the aussie down with a thud. Panny waiting watching as the aussie is up at 5. ON COMES PANNY, punching the aussie back to the ropes with a barrage of lightning fast jabs to the chest and chin. BROWNING HURT, knees weakening as Panny RAINS DOWN on the the aussie girls face. Brownings head on a bobble as Panny continues to bash her senseless, Brownings arms fall by her side but she stays on strong legs, copping a tyraid of punches to the face and the REF STEPS IN!! It’s over, TKO Hayden Panettiere!
Hayden pulling the ref off Emily Browning and stepping in to give her a huge hug mid ring. Panny lifting Browning off her feet screaming “What a fight!”. Tears from Browning as she realizes how close she came to beating the champ here. Both girls talking quietly mid ring, faces messed up, red raw torso’s.
“Emily Browning has to be one of the toughest Flyweights I have fought. These Aussie girls only seem to know one way, knock your opponent out or be knocked out. I knew I had the staying power to go 10 rounds with her but I never thought it would take that long. I probably could have knocked her out in round 4 or 5 I can’t remember, but the legs are like tree roots. When her punches faded at the end of the 7th, that’s when I knew I had her but then she knocked me down and I was punched back to reality. Gutsiest fight ever” says Panny.
Browning always in the fight, receiving some medical attention but comments “I just went 10 rounds with Hayden Panettiere, the best Flyweight in the world…and nearly beat her, if only I stayed out of her way for longer in the last round and didn’t try to match it with her, I may have got the decision, who knows, losing to the champ by TKO in the 10th isn’t all that bad…this is a big moment for me. Coming off a win over Emilie and Samia, I feel like I have turned a corner and to go 10 rounds with Hayden….wow…know exactly where I am at right now”.
The Foxfire and Downunder girls gathered mid ring for a photo shoot, with the view of Whitehaven beach in the background, then they all headed off for some cocktails back at Qualia’s Long Pavilion bar.
