Founded in the 1980s, the Australian Women's Underground Boxing Association is of the pioneer federations in celebrity boxing. It was only in 2011 that most fans in the North America Female Celebrity Boxing Association (FCBA) and the Unitied Kingdom's Brit Boxing Unlimited (BBU) became aware of the organization.

Already there have been a number of bouts between members of the three international federations and fans of celebrity boxing hope to see the sport grow and prosper with this interactions.

On November 21, 2011, it was announced that due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, the AWUBA would have to be dissolved. However in it's place arose the Australian Celebrity Boxing Association (ACB).

The AWUBA differs from the FCBA and BBU in that it divides it's fighters into 8 weight classes. In addition, the AWUBA welcomes non-celebrity fighters, who can challenge for and hold any of the AWUBA titles:
