Last week saw the first AWUBA event in a few months. I won't go into too much detail as our friends in the North are not too familiar with the Aussie girls.

For those unfamiliar with the AWUBA, there are 8 divisions from Bantam through to Middle and there are 133 active fighters.

All the titles were on the line across the week long event.

Some of the highlights of the event were:

Bantam Title: Miranda Kerr (ch) TKO10 over Jessica Marais. Miranda defending this title for the 5th time. The fight took on a similar look and feel to the Downunder Boxing Launch fight with Miranda going down several times in the fight but Jessica just could not finish her.

Bantam: Kylie Minogue UD10 over Radha Mitchell. Gutsy win by the Minogue sister. A great lead up to her enormous Asylum challenge against Pink later this month.

Superbantam Title: Danni Minogue KO10 over Sam Schoers (ch). Danni the new champion. Her 9th straight AWUBA/BBU win. Danni is looking for her next BBU fight or perhaps something in the FCBA.

Superbantam: Melissa George TKO1 over Candice Falzon. Candice is an Australian Ironwoman and Melissa made her look like a punching bag. Big victory from Melissa.

Feather Title: Zoe Ventoura KO1 over Kat Stewart (ch). Zoe the new champion. Zoe, lead female in Wildboys, landed a brutal uppercut midway through and then knocked Kat (of Offspring fame) out late in the first.

Superfeather: Erin McNaught (Model) KO4 over Rachael Taylor. The actress really struggling for a win but did get her first over Zoe Salmon in the BBU this week. Erin McNaught enters the top ten.

Light: Elle MacPherson TKO7 over Jennifer Hawkins. The greatest vs the greatest. Elle holds the mantle of the greatest ever in the AWUBA but based on figures Jennifer has the edge on title wins. Elle controlled the fight knocking Jen down on 3 occassions. This sets up a title fight against Abbie Cornish in a few weeks time.

Light: Kimberley Davies KO1 over Zoe Naylor. The Green and Gold Magazine owner/editor was the underdog to a much better fighter in actress/model Zoe Naylor. Huge upset, massive knockdown and Kimberley is back in the top 10.

Light: Amber Lawrence KO2 over Yvonne Strahovski. Ugliest knockdown of the night, but by far the standout victory of the week. Amber Lawrence (country music singer) destroyed Strahovski, knocking her down twice in round 1 and then once midway through the second, before the most precise right uppercut put Strahovski on the mat and sent her off for a night in the hospital. Yvonne has slipped to 18th on the AWUBA Lightweight rankings.

Light: Nicole Kidman TKO2 over Peta Wilson. Big win for the veteran Kidman over a much more skillful opponent in Wilson. Rematch will be exciting.

Superlight title: Sonia Kruger KO3 over Nikki Visser (ch). Sonia the new chamipon. Two older girls at the top of their game but Sonia was too strong in this fight. Rematch will be a cracker.

Superlight: Tara Moss KO1 over Cate Blanchett. Tara Moss mauled Cate right from the outset and absolutely dominated the older actress with her huge knockout to end the fight late in the round. Tara is into the top 5 and is making a strong case for a title fight against Sonia/Nikki.

Welter: Megan Gale TKO7 over Sam Stosur. Sam coming off her US Open win over Serena Williams was the red hot favourite. Her physicality and presence in the ring dominated the fight until the 5th when she completely ran out of gas and a bruised and battered Megan Gale started digging deep and the ref had to stop the fight in the 7th when Megan knocked Sam out on her feet. Megan Gale will now contend the Welter Title against Michelle Bridges.

Current Champions:
Bantam: Miranda Kerr (5th title in a row)
Superbantam: Danni Minogue
Feather: Zoe Ventoura
Superfeather: Krystal Forscutt
Light: Abbie Cornish
Superlight: Sonia Kruger
Welter: Michelle Bridges
Middle: Sarah Murdoch (5th title in a row)
