BBU Stable Lightweight Tournament: Semi-Finals

The second Semi Final match in the Lightweight tournament sees Karolina Kurkova of The Lioness Club taking on Rochelle Wiseman of Double A Boxing. Karolina stopped Tiana Benjamin in the sixth round to get here, while Rochelle stopped Sarah Harding in the fifth.

Karolina wears a black bikini for the fight, while Rochelle's in an orange one.

Round 1:

Both move in, though Karolina's clearly the aggressor, pasting Rochelle in the face a few times before she can get her hands up. She stays high, trying to break her way through Rochelle's guard, occasionally hooking around to catch her on the side of the head, though mostly sticking with a jab that only occasionally pokes through. Rochelle just takes it, keeping her guard up tight, only answering back occasionally. Karolina tries a hook to the body, followed by a few quick shots, but they seem ineffective, and she decides to use her height advantage to try and punch over Rochelle's guard, an endeavor that only seems semi-fruitful.

Karolina's round, though Rochelle didn't suffer much damage.

Round 2:

Karolina comes out aggressive again, putting more power behind her punches in an attempt to break Rochelle's guard. She begins to find more success, throwing jabs down the center to split her guard, then pasting her around the eyes with every free punch she can get in. Rochelle continues to keep her guard tight, making Karolina work for every punch, and it begins to frustrate her. Karolina begins swinging with even more power, trying to make Rochelle regret her defensive strategy. One hook manages to find its way around, snapping Rochelle's head to the side, and her arms drop. Karolina moves in, catching her with another jab... And is then suddenly shook by a hard left hook! Rochelle follows up with another, then jabs Karolina back forcibly, sending the taller girl stumbling back to the ropes. She begins to unload on her, the power of her punches whipping Karolina's head every which way. She manages to stay on her feet to the bell, but she seems almost out of it, stumbling her way to the corner on unsure legs.

Rochelle's round, as she finally answers back, a fire being lit under her.

Round 3:

Rochelle's early tactics seem long forgotten, as she practically bull rushes across the ring, catching the unsteady Karolina with a hard combination to the body, forcing her back into the corner, then going up top and lighting her up with a hard uppercut. Karolina's knees buckle, but she gets help, as a hard hook from Rochelle sends her sprawling on her side, unable to beat the count.

Rochelle Wiseman knocked Karolina Kurkova out in the third round.

Rochelle's early defensive strategy seemed to be nothing more than a ploy to feel Karolina out, luring her into a false sense of security, then winning the power battle. She meets Lisa Maffia in the finals.
