Following her impressive win over Lisa Maffia few days ago, Sayuki Matsumoto (Front Street Japan) has headed back to Land of the Rising Sun where her second BBU fight has been arranged with Lioness Club's Karolina Kurkova throwing down the challenge. The Czech model looks to bounce back from a painful loss to Rochelle Wiseman in the recent BBU championships semi-final.

The BBU headquarters in Cardiff are still relishing the stable war between BBU UK & America and some of the FCBA stalwarts hence this bout takes place in Tokyo Dome Arena in front of Matsumoto's home crowd. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
The crowd is buzzing with anticipation as the whole nation seems to pin a lot of hopes on Matsumoto. The Asian immediately jumps from her stool and throws an aggressive combination to the blonde's head, the left hook catches Kurkova in the side of the head and pushes her along the ropes. Good start from Sayuki who now jumps right at her rival and tries another big hook to the head but this time Kurkova read that well and covered up in time. Nonetherless, the energetic boxing from the Japanese gives her the advantage as she pummels the very defensive mannered blonde along the ropes. Kurkova reverts to clinching and tries to push the local girl away. She succeeds after a lenghty struggle, but it's all about Matsumoto who clearly has stamped her authority in this bout early on. She throws more jabs at the blonde who responds with few onm her own but they are largely ineffective and the rounds ends with Sayuki making a much better impression.

Round 2:
Frustrated by the opening round problems, Karolina decides to attack right from the start in the second and catches the Asian with a good left hook to the head early on. Sayuki jumps back and begins to circle around as Kurkova tries to chase her down. She amost nails her in the corner but lands only one jab to the breasts before the local girl sidesteps away from danger. The Czech girl keeps coming forward though and Sayuki finally engages in a punching stand-up in the middle of the ring; she stays firmly upright throwing big hooks and jabs to Karolina's face, the blonde responds with equally brutal punches on her own and they just pound each other like there's no tomorrow. Kurkova lands her best punch to Sayuki's mouth but gets rocked with a nasty stiff jab to the nose herself. Finally both girls run out of steam and despite neither going down in this slugfest exchange, they both look pretty worn out. They circle around each other for remainder of the round waiting for the bell.

Round 3:
Both girls breath heavily during the interval, no signs of real damage on their faces just yet and early in the third it's very passive boxing. The crowd has calmed down a bit however when Matsumoto lands a big jab to the stomach and forces Kurkova to bend down and try to clinch, they get excited again. Karolina tries to clinch but Sayuki is working her midsection with no sympathy. Another three big low jabs to the ribs really take their toll on the blonde's strenght and she begins to struggle. Matsumoto gains the upper-hand once again and starts to throw more vicious punches working around the Czech's head. Kurkova covers up, tries to duck low but gets pummelled all over the ring. The Asian girl pushes her along the corner post and nails a number of ananswered punches to the body and head, it's still all about keeping the guard in tact for Kurkova... twenty seconds on the clock and her knees are getting soft... she's on the verge of going down... but Sayuki suddenly smiles and steps back allowing the bell to save the hapless blonde... it was another good showing from the local girl who seemed to be only teasing with her rival..

Round 4:
Karolina's face has adopted all kinds of red during the interval, Sayuki really worked her over in the third. However the spark is still there in the eyes as she goes out from her stool and lands a nice low comination to the brunette's stomach. Matsumoto jumps back and begins her dance around the ring as the crowd cheer her on! Karolina tries to reach her with some nasty looking jabs, but she can't tame the Japanese girl's speed across the canvas. Sayuki keeps the distance and lands a couple of hooks herself just underneath the blonde's elbows who gets even more frustrated by the way this fight has been going so far. Inside the final minute, Matsumoto steps forward and causes more trouble for the blonde. A delightful left-right combination rocks the blonde's guard and another jab to the ribs makes Kurkova groan in pain. Matsumoto pushes her to the ropes and pounds her with a flurry of jabs to the midsection.... Karolina tries to cover up but it's all to no avail, she's rooted to the spot and gets send crashing down on the canvas as referee begins the count... only ten seconds remaining on the clock and the Czech girl gets up at seven looking very sore and busted up... but she's willing to continue and gets the approval... Sayuki wants to finish her off for good but the bell interrupts her plans for the time being.

Round 5:
Kurkova is clearly in pain during the interval holding her ribs and whispering in her corner. Matsumoto looks calm and collected in hers and begins another rampant attack immediately after the bell. She nails the blonde with a nice jab to the stomach but soon afterwards Karolina drops her gloves down and begins to circle around the ring herself, showing no signs of any offensive approach. Sayuki shakes her head and begins to step forward sooner than she did in most of the previous rounds as she tries to punish the blonde one more time. Karolina escapes from trouble in one of the corners as the brunette's jab combination crush off her gloves but Matsumoto continues to chase her down and finally traps her along her own corner where she pummels the blonde's stomach in a rage of fury. Kurkova clinches in despair but Sayuki still pounds her without any sympathy. This time the Czech girl can't resist the brutal treatment and slides down on her knees as the referee begins the count... Karolina tries to get up at four.. but stumbles and remains on her knees.. another attempt at seven.. this time she succeeds but looks frail and messed up as she beats the count... the ref doesn't like it at all... home advantage or not, he calls it off..... TKO R5 Sayuki Matsumoto in clinical and ruthless fashion!!!!

Post-fight review:
Sayuki Matsumoto is taking BBU by the storm so far, destroying some of the lightweight's most fearsome opponents in Lisa Maffia and Karolina Kurkova. It bodes well for Miss Matsumoto's future and the entire Front Street Japan stable who clearly have found a flagship fighter in her. Meanwhile Kurkova has painfully found out that the Asian's win over Lisa Maffia was no fluke and had to accept a second straight loss. She was clearly owerpowered by the Japanese and the home arena advantage had little influence in the end as Karolina never looked like a winner in this fight during the five rounds she lasted in the ring.
