Before; Shannen calling Marg a  “tough old broad in the Angie Dickinson mold” in preflight--just about as close to a compliment as a a blonde’ll ever get from the notorious fair-haired slayer. “I’ve got to stay sharp,” Doherty continues, “gets rounds, fight quality--and Marg definitely represents everything I need in an opponent right now. The fact hat she can still make 110 at her age is amazing--there aren’t a lot of  veterans like her at flyweight.” Hilgenberger in navy bra and panties, white ;ace trim, Shan in red crochet bikini.

During R1: Very methodical , measured attack from Shannen. Jabs to fix Marg’s position, get her guard up. Brisk steps to the left to turn the blonde. Hard right/lefts on the waist, really sinking in loud beneath the elbows. Systematic application of punishment doing wonders--by the final minute--Marg’s guard starting to droop, those bang/bang body shots visibly stiffening her for a moment--she can’t get off as she has to regroup, catch her breath. Bruising shutout Shan Doherty.

R2: Shannen back on the attack, but Marg’s had a good long look at it, has the timing down. Marg countering the jab with ba stubby  tomahawk right blunt on the jaw--she’s disrupting Shannen’s orderly line, getting in Doherty’s grill and punching in clubbing combination toe to toe. Shan getting her chin licked, getting her feet squared up--end of first minute, Marg gets close, twists into a series of bashing rights and lefts upside the head and DOHERTY SCOOTS TO HER BACKSIDE! Shannen just roughed up and dumped--she tales a “I can’t believe I’m hurt” 8 and ON COMES MARG! Old pro going to the body on a swaying vixen--Shannen’s turn to be paralyzed, stooping forward as Hilgenberger digs in amidships. Marg gouging in under elbows as Shannen had earlier--Doherty gasping, stiffening--these are gorgeous, frame-bending rips, Down the stretch, Marg cleaning up--SHANNEN STARTS WALLOPING BACK!  Doherty sheds the professional boxer-puncher look, arms crossed at her stomach, wading off the ropes with slinging, clouting lefts and rights, backing Marg up with stroking smokes along either side the jaw. WAR! Marg’s butt wobbling in those navy trunks, Shannen’s legs threatening to give--both girls POURING it on, stunning each other to the chin, landing crippling, swinging rights flat ton tummy, turning over hooks--it’s brutal, mindless fare. AND MARG SPRAWLS ON HER BACK! Furious fire fights ends as Hilgenberger spreads out on the canvas-eyelashes fluttering, thin trickle  of blood out the left side of her mouth--she’s RUINED! KO2 Shannen D as Marg struggles to roll to her right side.

After: Doherty pumped with emotion after wild brawl nearly finishes both beauties--she climbs corner ropes, trapping Marg against the turnbuckles, holding a fistful of sopping blonde tousle in her left while thrusting skyward with her right in celebration. Brief affair shows the best of Shannen--the polished, disciplined boxing/body attack early, the grit and heart under fire, then the pure, raw slugging when all else had failed to pull this thing out. Marg given credit in some quarters for going out on her shield--”She’s experienced enough to have just gone in there to survive,” notes one pundit. “She went for it like a kid in her twenties and you gotta love that.”
