And now for the final fight of the evening, with four British boxers already beaten, and Michelle, the third former BBU champion on display looking to preserve some dignity against a Japanese girl with a body as voluptuous as hers for a flyweight, and with a look that says, “I’m up for this.”

Michelle’s in the ring first for this fight – black bikini – wow! Now in comes Yuu – scarlet bra and panties – wow!

The girls have not built up any pre-fight hatred, but they’re keen to start, and their faces are both stern as they prepare themselves.

Round 1

It’s a quick start from both girls, with Michelle slamming some nice shots into Yuu’s body, sensing she could be vulnerable there, but earning herself a smart set of counter punches to the face as Yuu comes in headhunting. Michelle gets caught with a left hook, but she steams forwards, and manages to push Yuu into the ropes with her hard bodypunching, and it begins to take it’s toll on her in the second half of the round, the Japanese girl clinching and spoiling to keep Michelle off her.

Round 2

Michelle’s quicker to get her act together in the second, again sorting Yuu out with some heavy blows to her body, and the Japanese girl is less than happy to find herself being bundled around by the Brit, and again is on the ropes by halfway, with Keegan beginning to switch the attack ‘upstairs’ to Tejima’s face. This time, Yuu’s counterpunching works well, trading like with like, and neither girl seems to want to defend as they crack good punches into each other’s pretty face. Yuu isn’t making much progress off the ropes, but the way these two are fighting they could be in a phone box – as the bell rings, the referee has to dive between them, and they are both bruised already, both really marked.

Round 3

The girls go straight back at each other, but this time they’re trading punches in the centre of the ring, at least until Yuu hurts Michelle with a left hook, the Brit quaking at the knees. Michelle’s been staggered by that, and she’s on her heels, covering up, taking another heavy left hook to the side of her head, then gets loosened up with a left to the liver, making her squeal, drop her guard, take a right hook to the mouth, and another, and Michelle’s on the canvas, head swooning, nose dribbling blood, and taking a 7 count. The Brit’s back on her feet, but Yuu is in control, beating her to the punch and looking good as she rocks Michelle’s head back, blood spraying from her mouth and nose, and Keegan must be glad to hear the bell.

Round 4

Yuu is bristling with aggression, and Michelle seems to acknowledge that she’s been outpunched so far, as she adopts a more defensive pose, letting Yuu come to her first, blocking her attacks, then rapping shots into her body on the counterpunch, just looking to sap the girl’s energy. Michelle’s operating from the centre of the ring, making Yuu circle, drawing her leading punches, then batting her back on the counter – not spectacular stuff like the past two rounds, but effective, and it gives her some respite.

Round 5

Still Yuu is taking the fight to Michelle, but maybe the older girl needs to think about this a little more, as Michelle’s counter attacks are beginning to hurt her, and she’s the one now with the redder face, taking punches more regularly as she seems a little slower about her work, and now she’s looking for the Brit’s body. Michelle now finds herself the girl on the ropes, but isn’t fazed – Yuu hits her to the ribs, but Michelle slips a jab between the model’s gloves, turns her, then wipes a crashing right hook across her cheek, and Yuu slides to the floor, groaning as she pushes herself to all fours, then up at 6. Michelle is canny, and won’t get involved in a toe-to-toe exchange now, content to take the 10 – 8 round.

Round 6

The early pace of this fight has taken it’s toll on Yuu, and the model is sitting back in the early seconds, possibly hoping that Michelle will dive in, but that’s not happening, and Michelle’s boxing nicely, restricting herself to hurting the girl to the body still, clearly apprehensive. But Yuu’s saved herself in this round for a late assault, and she thuds three punches into Michelle’s face one after another, the actress stumbling to the ropes – Yuu rushes in on her, and walks into a lovely straight right from Michelle, which puts her on her back, stunned and frustrated. Yuu is on her feet quickly again at 6, attacks Michelle through the red mist of anger, and is easily rebuffed and picked off by the Brit, who is stretching her points advantage.

Round 7

Yuu looks tired, and Michelle is boxing her well, her jabs landing in the model’s swelling face, and Yuu isn’t throwing too much back in the early stages of the round. Even so, Michelle doesn’t race after the older girl, just carries on with her tactical ploy, knowing she hasn’t taken the sting out of her yet. Michelle bosses the first 2 minutes or so of the round, then back storms Yuu, at last connecting with a left hook again, turning the actress’s head sideways, then nailing her in the ribs with another, and Michelle’s hurt – holding and clinching, preventing Yuu form getting any more shots in at her this round.

Round 8

Michelle opens the round by catching Yuu with a good right hook to the jaw, then gets a couple of good lefts swinging into her body, and the model is cowed, not able to react as she would wish. She’s getting beaten to the punch in these minutes, with Michelle again bossing the ring, making her opponent work. As Yuu gets her confidence back, Michelle has already established a pattern, as she occupies the centre of the ring, making Yuu come to her, then pick her off, the model’s face very badly marked up and swollen, but she lands to Michelle’s belly late in the round, and that clearly slows the Brit down, and the round ends with Yuu pounding Michelle’s midsection as the actress lays against the ropes, but the round is already the Brit’s.

Round 9

Yuu wants to get to Michelle early in this round, knowing she must exert some authority or lose the fight, and that’s what she does, throwing good punches into the Brit’s body early, moving her into the ropes again. But Michelle is wise to the model, and deftly turns her, smacks her face back and forth hard, but then gets caught a glancing blow with a left hook which makes her stumble, and then Yuu turns HER, and beats her hard to the face with no fewer than seven unanswered punches, and Michelle’s down, face smeared in more blood now – her right eyebrow’s cut, and she finds it hard to regain her feet at 8. Michelle’s wounded and in trouble, and Yuu launches into her, batting her head from side to side, but the actress won’t go down again, and she survives a torrid round.

Round 10

Two exhausted girls set out again, and Yuu seems to have more left than Michelle, taking the fight to the Brit, beating on that split eyebrow, then working to her body, hurting her with repeated right hands to the belly, but Michelle survives, then, with the Japanese girl tiring, she fights back, her own punches to the body now taking their toll, and Yuu begins to slump into Michelle as the girls clinch. The girls get a standing ovation from the fans as the fight enters it’s final minute, with Yuu somehow finding the strength to smear Michelle against the cornerpost with a left hook to the jaw, then land another to her body, and she’s still punching the Brit beyond the final bell, just doing everything but knock her out.

The decision from the judges is split, but by two to one, Michelle Keegan has beaten Yuu Tejima on points.

The girls fall into each other’s arms after the result – Michelle looks worse than Yuu, but she probably did win more rounds.

And so ends a fairly brutal evening of flyweight boxing – the Japanese girls have arrived in BBU!
