Real youth against experience here, with Emily, who turns 23 next week in against the French FCBA veteran of 80 odd fights Virginie, who looks pretty fit for 35, but even so, can she withstand the pure energy of little Emily?

Into the ring come the girls, with Virginie in black hot pants and white sports bra, and Emily in a body hugging red one piece – couple of pretty girls here, that’s for sure, receiving their instructions from the referee with respect.

Here we go – showtime!

Round 1

Not much action here early on, with the girls sussing each other out, both keeping on the move, Virginie rangy, keeping her guard low, popping slingy shots at Emily, who keeps her shape well, burrowing into the French girl a bit, really, taking her to the body, and taking her on toe to toe now as well – bad idea, kid. She gets a couple of solid jabs as a reward for that effort, and goes back to her busy, busy style, working Ginnie inside with cuffing blows, knowing she has to stop the taller girl from dictating terms, and she’s establishing herself right here and now, excellent work rate from the youngster to take the initiative.

Round 2

The pace is increasing now as the girls start to settle in, and Emily’s still taking Virginie on, still bumping away to that slender body, and that’s bound to hurt, bound to take it’s toll on her. Virginie’s holding well, tying Emily up a little there, being awkward instead of elegant for once, and the little girl’s unhappy about it, but carries on anyway. In comes Emily again, head first, but this time the French girl’s ready for her, yes, good punches there into the kid’s face, and Ginnie’s taking control of the girl now, knocking her head around easily, and Emily can’t seem to get out of the way as the French girl shows all her range and experience, taking her toll on the youngster’s face to the bell.

Round 3

The girls seem to be gathering themselves again, the fight evened up now, but here comes little Emily, just smacking her gloves into Virginie’s ribs and midsection, with the taller girl getting pushed back and back, being bullied out of her stride as the younger girl hits her hard to the body. Virginie’s holding when she can, but it’s a tough time for her out there just now – she can’t dance and jab, because every time she tries anything, she’s leaving a gap where she can be hit, and she looks pleased to have seen that round end.

Round 4

It’s round 3 revisited early on, with Emily just battering the hell out of Virginie up close, walking through any jabs the French girl has, and really hurting her now, those blows will weaken her and knock the stuffing right out of her. On the ropes, Virginie’s still trying to punch her way back into the fight, but Emily’s punching rate is getting on top of her here, and she’s looking a little spent, glancing to her corner, but there’s nothing they can do. Again the French girl resorts to ugly tactics, clinching and holding the little Aussie, and the fans don’t like it, with little Emily taking the round on aggression and firepower.

Round 5

Virginie’s working hard here now, trying to turn things around, and those are nice jabs she’s snapping onto Emily’s face – not damaging, but keeping the kid under a little control. Emily’s still driving forwards, though, still slamming her punches into Ginnie, and the French girl’s wincing and panting a little now every time she gets to her. She needs to keep those gloves up a little more though, as Virginie can still pick her off when she comes in like that – good shot – but the Aussie isn’t bothered, and she’s got Ginnie in the gut there, bending the girl, and she’s switching upstairs! Emily absolutely nailed the French woman with a left hook right on the bell, and she was pretty helpless when she slumped into the ropes, that’s for sure! Emily’s running away with this, I’d say, unless Virginie’s got some tricks up her sleeve.

Round 6

Again Virginie’s looking aggressive as the round starts, and those are nice punches she’s smacking into little Emily’s face, but the kid keeps ramming punches into her body – that’s a good one there – right in the breadbasket – the French girl’s hurt now, quivering a bit – left uppercut from Emily – she’s down – Virginie’s face down on the mat, and might not get up! No, she does, at 7, but she looks a bit shaky in there, and on pours Emily, aww, she’s ripping the woman’s body up with those big hooks and now she’s hitting her in the face as well – all Ginnie can do is poke her arm out and keep her away, but the girl’s dusting her up in there, and it’s a shame for the veteran.

Round 7

Emily’s looking to end this fight right here, but Virginie’s recovered well, and the kid’s go to learn some patience – the French girl’s getting on top of her early on, and she’s making the Aussie look a novice (which she is) and picking her off every time she gets close. This is better from Virginie – you’ve got to soften her up again, Emily to knock her out, babe! And in she comes, ripping to the body again, head down, French girl going backwards, unable to hold, and just taking it, taking it, her face a mask of pain here, as she struggles to make it through to the bell without falling – another Emily round, and she’s way up on points, now.

Round 8

If Virginie thought she’d turned a corner in the early part of round 7, she’s wring, as Emily is straight after her belly and ribs again, belting the already weakened woman really hard, and she’s down – straight shot to the belly puts Virginie on all fours, gasping, wincing, getting up, bless her, but she doesn’t look good, and there’s a while to go in this round. Emily’s in on her again, and yeah, thought so, the ref’s seen enough – he’s stopped it.

Emily Browning stopped Virginie Ledoyen in round 8.

This is turning into a good night for the Australian stables – that’s 2 out of 2 against European rivals. Maybe AWUBA is stronger than we thought!
