I’m looking forward to this, with young Rochelle making her first defence against the experienced Abbie – Wiseman’s favourite, but she’s vulnerable to a big punch – remember Katy Perry knocking her out?

In comes Abbie – and the blonde looks good in her black bikini, that’s certain. Now here’s Rochelle – yeah, she looks better! White bikini with black edging – that sets off her skin colouring beautifully.

They booth look ready for this, so let them go, guys!

Round 1

I have to say this is a disappointing start! The girls are not showing any real aggression at all so far, just circling and sending out jabs, most of which are coming up short – neither girl looks like she wants this at the moment, and there’s a bit of showboating from Abbie there, the Australian who’s won three fights in a row now, but that’s got under Rochelle’s skin a little, and that’s better – Rochelle gave Abbie the old one-two there, just knocking her face from side to side, and reminding her who’s the champ, I think. And again! Good, solid jabs from the Brit light the blonde’s face up, and she gives her a quick jab into the tummy at the end there, just to reinforce her winning the round.

Round 2

Rochelle’s looking keener this time around, and she’s getting those jabs going really early, and Abbie doesn’t seem to be avoiding many punches at all just now – no real defence from the challenger, and she needs to sort herself out here! That’s better from the blonde though – yep! She got through to Rochelle’s body with a couple of hooks, and the youngster’s hurting, having to back off, with Abbie looking pretty damn powerful coming forward. Looping lowish hooks into the champ’s ribs and soft midsection, testing her out, and I have to say Wiseman’s taking it! The kid’s defending OK, hanging on when she can, and counter punching there, too – not enough to steal the round back, but enough to show Abbie she hasn’t been fazed.

Round 3

This is good stuff now from Rochelle – she’s come out quick and bouncy this round – she’s light on her feet for a big girl – and she’s taking Abbie to the cleaners a little here – yeah, she’s flitting round the ring, stabbing that left jab into Abbie’s face – punching her quickly, and punching her hard, too. Cornish’s face is gradually turning crimson, and it’s not from embarassment, it’s from constant thudding of leather gloves on soft pale skin, and the older girl just can’t get to the champ at all – she’s getting a lesson from the youngster, and that’s about it for the round – did Rochelle take a punch at all? I can’t remember one!

Round 4

Rochelle’s keeping up the pressure – she’s a fit girl, in every sense – and those jabs of hers are distressing the Australian – her right cheek’s turning into a big bruise, and that’s going to restrict her vision soon, I’m afraid – if it isn’t already! That was a big left hand from Wiseman that time – not a jab now, that was a crippling hook, and Abbie’s in trouble – she’s put her glove straight to her face, and she’s backed into the ropes – ahh, she’s cut, that’s it – yeah, cut over the right eye, shielding herself on the ropes, but Rochelle’s got her crumbling, she’s nailed her to the body with two savage hooks, and she’s flipped a right over the top of the blonde’s guard – caught her on the left cheek – and she can’t afford to have that eye impaired, too! Top class round for Rochelle – and Abbie’s eye looks bad.

Round 5

Abbie’s brave, but that’s not enough at this level! Rochelle’s just skipping round her attempts to defend her damaged aye, and punching her from all sorts of angles, getting round her, dodging back in – lovely left to the jaw there – have Cornish’s legs gone? They’re a bit jellyish right now, and Rochelle’s closing in – not in a hurry, and bang! She hit her again with that left hook, now follows up – right hand, right hand – down goes Abbie! The Australian’s on her back and panting, but she’s getting up – beat the count – just at 8, but I can’t see her lasting much longer! Rochelle’s on the move again, and poor Abbie’s a static target for the mobile singer to smack punches into – guarding her head, with Wiseman still finding gaps, and that’s another round pocketed by the champion.

Round 6

Abbie’s right eye is shut, I’d say – surely this can’t go on, it’s cruel – title fight or not! Rochelle’s got to ignore the damage and finish the job though, and she hurt Abbie again there with her right hook – to be fair, she’s not looking to hit the eye – she’s so much on top, she doesn’t need to, and Abbie’s on bambi legs again, staggering and stumbling – left hook to the liver – oh, down goes Abbie again! The blonde’s face down on the canvas, gets to her knees, gets up, but no – she’s taken enough – at last the referee calls a halt to a one-sided contest.

Rochelle Wiseman stopped Abbie Cornish in round 6 to retain her BBU Lightweight title.

That fight might have been closer had Abbie not been cut so early, but I don’t know – Rochelle looks a good champion, and Double A Boxing should be proud of her.
