Wunmi happy to be back in the ring. She faces off against Kimberley Davies, the blonde is older, but with plenty of ring experience. Very professional in preflight as fighters stick to business of saying they are glad to be here, etc. Not very crowd-inciting, but smart in terms of not motivating the other side either. Fight night finds Wunmi is a sturdy purple two-piece and black gloves. Kimberley in green and gold bikini, green gloves.

Round 1:

Kimberley takes the initiative quickly, using her well-developed boxing skills to keep Wunmi on the defensive early on. Blonde thinks she’s got the FAB welter confused and confidently moves in close to start laying on some heavy leather to the body. However black fighter is not all that confused, as blonde comes in, Wunmi sends a thudding left hand straight on into Kimberly’s mouth, splitting her lips and sending the blonde reeling backwards. Wunmi stays with, keeping up the heavy pressure as she backs the blonde up. Wunmi racks up that chin again late and Kimberley glassy-eyed, seems to have trouble figuring out where her corner is after the bell. Wunmi pauses to helpfully point the blonde in the right direction.

Round 2:

Wunmi out aggressively this round and Kim’s still showing the effects of those R1 chin shots. Wunmi now able to use her heavier body to push Kimberley around, finally getting her trapped against the ropes. Heavy, beefy shots slam into Kimberley’s body, sometimes even lifting her up on toes as hooks dig hard into belly meat. Ref finally forces a break, but Wunmi then unleashes a well-timed right hook that catches Kimberley beautiful. Blood and sweat go spraying colorfully as Kim is whipped around and she corkscrew to her hands and knees. Blonde shows her toughness by getting to her feet, but she’s also lucky only seconds are left in the round. She is able to cover up and ride out Wunmi’s follow up until the bell rings. Wunmi looking a bit frustrated and is breathing heavily as she heads for her stool. Jenny walking much more slowly back to her corner.

Round 3:

Wunmi decides to take a breather this round and Kim is still pulling herself together after the pounding she’s taken in first two stanzas. Kim seems to recover first and fires in some solid blows to FAB welter’s solar plexus, sending shock waves down black fighter’s legs. Wunmi hitting back, but she doesn’t seem to have the old zip in her blows. Kimberley able to move around and keep Wunmi pursuing her adding more fatigue to the bigger woman’s body.

Round 4:

Kimberley continues her body attack for another round and it is clearly getting to the bigger woman. Wunmi trying to keep her elbows in close to protect her ribs, but the mobile Kim is still getting through and inflicting still more damage. Then a Davies fires a well-directed shot into Wunmi’s liver. The black fighter gasps in agony and slumps to her knees holding her body. Wunmi able to rise and beat the count, but she is obliged to cover up and simply take the rest of what amounts to a bell to bell beating.

Round 5:

Kim closes to resume the attack on Wunmi’s body, but the FAB welter is far from finished. She spots an opening and lands an excellent combination to the blonde’s jaw. Kim reeling again and looks to be in trouble as Wunmi swarms in to take advantage of the opportunity. However the veteran blonde uses holds and clinches to spoil the offensive and avoid a potential knockdown punch landing. Still, Wunmi Mosaku takes the round.

Round 6:

Another slow moving round as Wunmi looks increasingly worn and is trying to get her second wind. Kim seems to be biding her time, but she is able to keep her body attack going. Green leather sinks into soft, sweaty black flesh again and again. (Observers whisper unkindly “Maybe Mosaku has too much Christmas turkey on board).” Mosaku shuddering under the impacts, she stays up, but when the bell rings, she moves VERY slowly back to her corner.

Round 7:

Wunmi breathing heavily soon after the round starts and has trouble keeping her weary arms up. Kimberley takes advantage of the lowered guard to turn her attention to the FAB welter’s now vulnerable head. Davies gloves start bouncing off Wunmi’s face, showing a variety and sheer volume that the struggling Wunmi is unable to deal with. Her face rapidly becomes swollen and bloody. Late in the round, Kim able to loop in a left hook across the jaw that sends the FAB welter sprawling on her side. Wrecked and bloody though she is, Wunmi shows her courage by getting back to her feet and continuing the contest. Kimberley shows no mercy, beating Wunmi back against the ropes and giving her a terrible beating, but those strong ebony legs keep the FAB fighter standing to the bell. During the break Sophia Myles, Foxfire Atlantic head trainer seen pleading with Munmi not to continue, but the proud fighter refuses to quit. “I-can-still-beat-her--” she pants, though without much conviction.

Round 8:

Kim’s pleasantly surprised to find her opponent has come out again and takes total command of the round. With a happy smile on her face, the blonde punches Wunmi from corner to corner punching her along the ropes. Midway through the round, Davies finally ends the carnage with an uppercut that sends Wunmi spilling backwards, she trips over her feet and spins around so that ends up draped over the middle strand stunned senseless.

Kimberley Davies raises her arms as she takes the fight with a brutal KO8.

After: No comments from the wrecked Wunmi Mosaku, but plenty from Kimberley Davies. “Really, I think she has a lot of potential, but it would help her a lot if her trainers actually taught her how to properly box. I would never put one of my Wildetime girls in such a position. Foxfire Atlantic should be ashamed that they allowed this to happen to one of their fighters.”

Sophia Myles, head trainer for FAB, is clearly furious when word of Kim’s remarks gets back to her: “I don’t take advice from the likes of Kim Davies. She fought a good fight. She was clearly ‘piling on’ at the end and that’s something SHE should be ashamed of. I expect that sort of thing from young fighters, not from someone with the maturity Kim ought to have.”

“Sophia is just trying to blame me for her failures,” sniffs Kim, “I hope Winslet won’t let her get away with it.”

“No comment,” Kate Winslet says as the controversy subsides into a smoldering resentment.
