Sarah: This is a great match up between the 24 year old model Lara Bingle and the 26 year old singer Havana Brown. Lara it’s been a hard road here and tonight won’t be any easier.

Lara: Is that a question? I am happy with my preparation. I took Isla Fisher to 10 rounds last time in and Havana is in that same mold. Very quick, but no power. It’s a perfect match up for me but I have the knockout punch that she doesn’t.

Sarah: Lara talks about her power but we haven’t seen it for some time. Havana, you are on debut tonight, what’s your plan?

Havana: I’ll be keeping my cards close to my chest. Lara knows what a knockout punch feels like because Madeleine West sent her crashing out with one in round 2 a few months back.

Sarah: Gee I love it when these girls sledge.

Round 1

Brown straight on the attack leading with the left jab and banging it at Bingle's guard. Bingle a little uneasy, backing away and trying to swat at the Brown jabs. She’s catching a lot of leather on the face but they are feathery little jabs, more annoying than anything. Bingle steadying the ship and starting to plant the feet and strike back. Brown though, walking through the jabs, taking shots to her face and continuing her feathery charge. Late in the round, Brown hammers an uppercut into the Bingle breadbasket, she buckles up wheezing and Brown smacks her head back with a FEROCIOUS UPPERCUT sending Bingle’s mouth guard flying as she side stomps to the corner. Brown attacking her torso with a blistering combination ending with another enormous RIGHT UPPERCUT on the chin that sends BINGLE TO THE CANVAS! Brown with one glove in the air high fiving Tania Zaetta in the corner as she passes but Bingle gets up at 6 and straightens her shorts. The bell saves her from any more torment.

Kylie: I’ll tell you what, that was sheer power from the pint sized Brown.

Kristy: And the speed Kylz.

Kylie: Absolutely. Those jabs might have looked feathery but when she struck the torso, Bingle was winded by a single punch and if you watch this uppercut here, Bingle is out on her feet. But the sheer speed of Brown to get in there and tidy up kept her on her feet.

Kristy: It’s actually a credit to Bingle that she is still conscious.

Round 2

Bingle wanting none of this, stays in her corner and then more or less runs from Brown. Brown just banging Bingle’s head back with each punch. Bingle offering nothing. Guard like a helmet, backing away, bouncing off the ropes and getting punished. Mid-way through the BronzedOz corners calls for action and Bingle bravely stands toe to toe with Brown but it’s all the latter as she works in and under the Bingle guard and slams shots at the ribs and stomach, coming up top for sweeping hooks. Brown connecting with a BIG LEFT HOOK to the nose and Bingle has some claret from the nostril. Brown fading late in the round as Bingle just covers up and cops it but there is nothing left in the DJ’s tank in the 2nd and Bingle lasts the round.

Kristy: You’ve gotta wonder what would have happened if that hook caught more of Bingle’s face Kylz.

Kylie: Hinzy, Havana Brown is all over Lara at the moment. The only thing I will say in Lara’s defense is that she has courage. And perhaps Brown is not sure how to finish her.

Kristy: You’d go back to what she was doing in round 1 wouldn’t you?

Round 3

Bingle enjoying the rest comes out fighting, beating Brown to mid-ring and dominating the first minute. Her jab is much stiffer and breaks through Browns guard causing a small cut to the right eye. The first signs of hope for Bingle as she winds up some uppercuts into the chest of the singer and bangs her head sideways with a NASTY RIGHT HOOK, Brown stumbling sideways but keeps her feet. Brown now all defensive, backing away, trying to duck and weave as Bingle jabs her around the ring. Bingle accumulating points with solid jabs to the nose and chin, finally works her to the corner and bangs away at Browns body but the singer does a good job of protecting herself, saved by the bell.

Kylie: That’s a better round from Bingle, surprised she got the ascendency but then again, this is what the corner called for midway through the second and she executed this time.

Kristy: Her jab is really stiff, compared to the feathery offering from her opponent and she can do a lot more damage there.

Kylie: She has certainly done well to change things up and get back in this fight.

Round 4

Brown this time goes on the attack and once again Bingle struggles to combat these feathery jabs. With blistering speed, she puts two and three together at a time, pow pow pow, pow pow, Bingle on her bike, pedaling away, but copping one or two shots with each combination. Her face reddening and swelling up, but mid-way through she turns the tables again and it’s her stiff jab that is doing more damaging. She’s working the cut, clever, trying to open the cut and close that eye. Brown back into it late though as the girls almost waltz the ring and change lead roles each minute. Brown taking it all the way to the bell, popping Bingle’s head back blow after blow.

Kristy: What a great fight this is. Both girls can surely throw a jab. One with speed, the other with power, making for an even display.

Kylie: I’d have it Brown’s way 38-33 but Bingle has definitely fought her way back into this and recovered well from that early knockdown.

Kristy: Gee I hope we get more of the same, it’s great to see two flyweights going for it like this.

Round 5

Bingle on the attack this time, leading with the jab and following with hook. Nice little right cross, followed by the left hook as Browns feathery jabs flutter off to nowhere and Bingle bangs a right uppercut into her ribcage. Brown takes it well but midway through is on the receiving end of another hard uppercut into her bruised ribs and that hurt. Bingle pushes at her shoulder with the right and drives a BIG LEFT JAB into her sternum followed by a NASTY RIGHT UPPERCUT that puts her head on a bobble and Brown is gone in the knees! Final minute is all Bingle, Brown stomps back to the ropes as Bingle swipes at her high guard then crouches low and twists into crunching hooks to the ribcage, still crouching and driving up into a hard uppercut that pops the head up and down. Brown taking the punishment, cut to the left eye, on wobbly legs, guard dropping, sitting back on the ropes. PUNISHING RIGHT HOOK to the temple and Brown spins and catches herself in the corner at the bell.

Kristy: Oh Kylz, She’s barely holding herself up as her feet have turned in and she dangles punch drunk on the ropes.

Kylie: yeah Bingle is all smiles as she returns to her corner knowing she’s wrapped this up. I can’t see Brown coming out for any more of that.

Kristy: They are thoroughly checking her over in the corner, both Tania and Kimberley looking concerned but it looks like this will continue. That left eye is looking bad.

Kylie: Different story in the other corner. Bingle didn’t take a stool and is just standing there gleaming.

Round 6

Bingle quick to Brown, pokes the right jab at the cut. Brown with elbows in and palms at the forehead, jabbing back cautiously. Bingle faring better but just can’t find the open as both girls and turn. Mid-way through, Brown catches Bingle a jab to the eye followed by a left hook that thwacks against her jaw. Bingle retreats, blinking it off as Brown advances and works the body with a couple of hard hooks. Bingle’s taking hard shots now as Brown rips those hooks into the rib cage, Bingle all defensive taking solid blows, breathing heavy as Brown continues but she’s open and Bingle bangs in two hooks to the ears. Both girls slogging it out late in the round, and there’s the bell.

Kylie: Hinzy, Lara focused too heavily on the cut there and didn’t really gain anything by that approach.

Kristy: Yeah poor choice there because she could have finished that by keeping up the round 5 tactics and instead Brown got to suck in some big ones and work her way back in.

Kylie: I think we blame poor corner management for that error. That round goes to Brown and she still leads.

Round 7

HERE COMES LARA BINGLE! Out like a rocket, jarring STRAIGHT JAB through the guard smacks into Browns mouth and she’s practically running away. Bingle hunts her down pounding hooks into the torso and coming up top for RIGHT AND LEFT HOOK to the temple! Brown in lady gaga land, stumbles sideways to the ropes for support. KIDNEY PUNCH BINGLE! Oh if you don’t mind!….the ref gives her a stern word as Havana Brown leans on the ropes but the ref doesn’t notice she’s off with the pixies. Brown wide eyed, mouth drooping, sucks in a big breath and pushes off the ropes. Bingle moves in, Brown covered up, Bingle pushes the jab at the guard but Brown defends well on wobbly legs. Final minute, Brown coming to, firing some hooks at Bingle who times and on back, both go astray. Lots of wild punching from Brown, Bingle patient waiting for the opening and LEFT UPPERCUT BINGLE right on the chin, just before the bell. Browns foundations rattled again.

Kristy: I’ll tell you what if you walked in from work and flicked the TV on just now, you would half expect Havana Brown was all but done. Surprisingly though she still leads this on points.

Kylie: Oh Lara Bingle is just taking her apart. Forgive the kidney punch I think, that was simply a mind melt from Lara but everything else has just been clinical boxing. Havana’s left eye all but closed and she now has swelling around the left.

Kristy: Only a matter of time Kylz?

Kylie: Look I think so but let’s not forget the knock down from Brown still has her leading this but the damage caused from that is probably a distant memory and Brown is half the boxer she was in round 1. We haven’t seen those quick feathery jabs that scored her the points early on.

Round 8

Bingle back to the jabbing tactics, trying to find that opening but its Brown that is banging her had back early. WHAT A FIGHT! Brown now ripping those body blows into bare Bingle skin, ducking and weaving those jabs and belting her opponent’s torso. Bingle backing right away from this, elbows tucked in at the hips but quick enough to block the odd hook to the face. Midway through Brown is sucking them in, Bingle resting to as they both circle one another a place those cautious jabs out there. Late in the round, Bingle again get the stiff jab through, banging the swollen left eye, places the uppercut firmly on the chin followed by another HUGE RIGHT UPPERCUT but Brown stays upright at the bell.

Kristy: This is just an amazing battle. Brown scoring well early but then Bingle came back with those big scoring punches late, this is too close to call.

Kylie: I’m not even going to try Hinzy, I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Round 9

Brown slow off her stool, not much left in the tank. Bingle the jabber, just keeps on working that solid jab but Brown is defending gallantly. Not throwing much but defending gallantly. “GET IN THERE HAVANA”, yells Zaetta. But Bingle scores with a couple of jabs on the forehead. Brown throwing the first of the feathery jabs we have seen since round 3, putting 5 or 6 butterflies out there and Bingle is blinking confused. More again from Havana, lightning speed, underneath now for a quick combo to the stomach as Bingle stands and accepts. Oh hard uppercut on the chin which has Bingle thinking twice about hanging around, Brown crouching low and pelting the mid-section. Final minute and Bingle BLASTS A RIGHT HOOK on the closing eye of Brown, she’s jolted sideways, left leg goes to jelly as she brings a glove up to the eye. Bingle smack a right hook into her ribs, left hook to the other side as Brown heaves and there’s the bell as Bingle places that uppercut right under the chin. Brown almost lifted off her feet as she falls back against the ropes but stays upright.

Kristy: I cannot believe this. Havana Brown just will not go down.

Kylie: Hinzy she is either tough as nails or stupid.

Kristy: Lara has a knockout punch but perhaps not this late in the fight.

Kylie: Well I reckon she will need to Brown out because that last found might have been even and she can’t make up 5 points any other way.

Kristy: Big round….here we go.

Round 10

Brown slow up again, Bingle on her toes, gets that jab through the gloves early and Brown is caught in two minds. Trying to defend but trying throw the jab in return. Gets caught by a PRECISION HOOK to the nose, rattled back to her defensive stance. Bingle coming on, forcing Brown back to the corner. Browns guard high, doesn’t want to get knocked out, Bingle smashing her torso with clubbing hooks, Brown drops the guard and Bingle smashes her in the eye with a right cross followed by a RIGHT HOOK and Brown stumbles to the corner, Bingle stepping to banging her in the ribs with a hard shot and then crouching into a SWIFT LEFT UPPERCUT which puts Brown’s head over the top rope. Brown’s legs are gone! Bingle can’t knock the girl down! Working the body again, Brown swinging wildly at Bingle’s face, treating herself to scoring punches but Bingle’s just hammering away at the bruised torso. Brown fading, can’t keep up the punches, Bingle also fading but still scoring with body shots and the odd uppercut but there’s nothing left and there’s the bell!!!

Kristy: Both girls falling into a respectful embrace. Quite a long embrace actually. There’s a lot of words being spoken there and two fighters that look absolutely spent.

Kylie: Yeah but Brown has faired the worse, she’s all banged up, one eye closed and the other like a china men. Bingle surprisingly unscathed, a bit of blood from the nose and swollen lips but looking ok.

Kristy: Here’s the result…..HAVANA BROWN gets a points decision!

Kylie: Lara Bingle is not impressed at all and there is a look of surprise from Havana. Let’s go up to Sarah.

Sarah: Havana, wow what a fight. You’ve backed up you BBU debut win with an epic 10 rounder here.

Havana: Unbelievable, I just said to Lara that she deserved the win and we were talking about a rematch already. Very shocked.

Sarah: We wondered what words were spoken.

Havana: I’ve got a lot of respect for Lara, she’s gone through a lot over the last couple of years and she’s finally found something she is very good at. I’ll tell you what I honestly can’t believe this I thought I might have done enough in the early rounds but as you can see she knocked me from pillar to post and wow….to come away with a win is pretty cool.

Sarah: Well done Havana. I’ll just grab a quick word with Lara. This must be hard.

Lara: I’m gutted. When she knocked me down in the first round and I caught her high fiving her corner out of my peripheral vision, that cut deep and I just thought right there and then that I had to get up and win the fight. I carried that with me for 9 more rounds and to be edged out on points is just gut wrenching.

Sarah: You said at the start you had a knockout punch but you couldn’t produce that tonight.

Lara: Well look that’s another one of those statements that isn’t really a question. Maybe I do have a knockout punch but maybe she has one solid chin.

Sarah: So a lot of maybe’s there girls but the result definitely went Havana Browns way.
