Sarah: We continue to be treated to some awesome fights and this one sees two more AWUBA greats going head to head. Just a bit of history here. Natalie Imbruglia, only second to Katie Ritchie, as the all-time greatest Featherweight. 27 titles plus 12 at Super Feather. She lost her debut BBU fight last weekend in poor fashion to Tulisa Contostavlos. Melissa George, the all-time greatest Super Bantam with 33 titles, 15 at Feather, 13 at Superfly, and 7 greatest of all-time. Her last two outings not so good. Both girls in the AWUBA Hall of Fame.

I’m here with Natalie, you were disappointed with you BBU debut, tell us about that and also thoughts on tonight?

Natalie: I never really got into the fight and she was just all over me. Thoughts on tonight, not gonna let it happen again.

Sarah: Short and sweet there from Natalie, and Melissa, same question to you I guess, a unanimous loss to Diana Corcoran last time in, what will you do differently tonight?

Melissa: Just make the most of my opportunities. I’d love to be able to take the fight to her like Tulisa did. We’ll see.

Sarah: Ok girls, I am really looking forward to this one.

Round 1

George into it early, excellent form, bending the knees and hooking Imbruglia's ribcage in brutal fashion. She’s hurt already, could be Tulisa II, she’s moaning, buckling over. George clubbing her in the head and pushing her to the ropes, then ducking and weaving weak fire to plant her feet and twist into more ferocious body shots. Arms pumping away as Imbruglia breaks down. Shifts her weight to the right and leans into a WHIPPING RIGHT UPPERCUT that gets all of Imbruglia’s chin and pops her head over the top rope. More body work until Imbruglia, clubs a left hook at her ear and George is shuffled sideways so Nat can get off the ropes. George’s ear is ringing. Imbruglia backing her up with feathery ones and two’s at her face, George taking a lot of shots, electrifying pace from Nat. Both girls slowing towards the end and the bell ends a close one.

Kristy: You called it Kylz, it looked like Tulisa Alphabet all over again for Nat but she bravely fought her way off the ropes.

Kylie: Too right Hinzy, that left hook from Nat has caused some trouble for George’s ear. The doc is in the corner with her at the moment. It’s possibly damaged the jaw.

Round 2

BELL TO BELL DESTRUCTION MELISSA GEORGE! Starts with George meeting Imbruglia mid-ring for what looks to be a toe to toe exchange but Nat cops a cheeky left jab clean on the chin and skips away blinking and shaking her head. George skipping in, ducking low, reefing hooks into her midsection, Imbruglia buckles and covers up leaving her face open for the WHIPPING LEFT AND RIGHT UPPERCUT, both taking chin, Nat taking a knee but immediately standing back up and slip/skipping backwards. George on her again, clubbing fists at her high guard. Imbruglia brawled this way and that, mauled into the corner. High aggression from George, pumping fists into her torso, slightly lifting her off the canvas with each blow. Imbruglia reeling as George pops her head back with a THUNDEROUS UPPERCUT, her head comes to rest for another SHORT SHARP JAB to the nose but SHE WON’T GO DOWN! Nat throwing a few jabs at George that all miss as she leans away and bends the knees swiping more hooks at the exposed ribs. Again Imbruglia buckling over, falling into the clinch, George taking large step back and sending a SWIPING RIGHT HOOK which crashes against Nat’s temple, spins her almost 180 degrees to the corner and her flail catching herself on the top rope. George charging in but the ref steps in to allow Nat off the ropes. She turns to display a bulging left eye and there’s the bell!

Kylie: Holy shit! That’s all I’ve got to say Kristy, holy fricken shit!

Kristy: Jesus, I don’t think I have ever seen anything like this from Melissa George. She’s just destroying Imbruglia.

Kylie: Yeah but how the hell is Nat staying on her feet!

Kristy: I don’t know Kylz but I think this fight should be stopped before Nat is seriously hurt.

Round 3

IMBRUGLIA ALL OUT! Amazing, Nat is in their swinging, but her punches are missing the mark. George taking some leather to her forearms but she is leaning and slipping the onslaught and patiently waits for the opening, which comes from a misguided right cross, timing is perfect as she DRIVES A RIGHT HOOK flush into Natalie’s left cheekbone and DOWN GOES IMBRUGLIA! Spun right and then slowly slumping to her left side and then onto her back, arms spread eagle and the ref calls it, it’s over! KO3 Melissa George!

Kristy: I think the corner gave her an ultimatum which probably went along the lines of “go down swinging” and that’s what she did. First round great, second round terrible, end result as expected.

Kylie: Harsh but fair I think Hinzy. Very similar to the Tulisa fight in the end. On one hand between by a girl 15 years her junior, on the other, beaten by a legend her own age. She has a lot of work to do to come back from this.

Sarah: Melissa, you beat Australia’s top iron woman, Candice Falzon, in a first round tko a few months back and now another great falls at your feet, this is similar to the style of boxing that saw you introduced to the AWUBA Hall of Fame.

Melissa: It’s been there waiting to come out for a long long time. I rose to the top really quickly in Australian boxing and won a lot of titles between the ages of 20-25. It’s been a real tough climb to get back to where I am, but boxing is like riding a bike. You never forget how too but as you get older it becomes harder to do it really well. As long as you are hungry for it, you can still be great, that was my best tonight. I’m very very happy.

Sarah: Well done Melissa. Natalie is unable to comment at this stage, still unconscious on the canvas.
