Cindy came into this fight still scalded by the loss to Tia Carrere and determined to erase it with ba high profile win over old rival Banks. Tyra's best as a svelte welter--Crawford's plan to coax Banks to 140, get her nice and big--was designed to give Coindy the edge she'd need to carve out another impressive victory. Guess that's why they go ahead and fight the fights.

Banks' first right hand nearly ended the fight moments into the first, and a badly rattled Crawford would take the next 8 minutes shaking off the shot, dropping the first 3 rounds as Tyra bullied Crawford pillar to post When Cindy got her legs back, the situation stablized in the 4th, then began to tilt in Crawford's favour as she circled, shot hard right hands to the body and began to whittle away at her fearsome opponent. In the sixth, when a crashing hook/right cross put Banks on her back--Cindy cleaned up with a dreadful beating along the ropes, but as hurt as Tyra was, there was hope: Cindy had turned puncher, and was hungry for the stoppage, From then on, big strapping lasses engaged in a Tyra Banks style free for all, lugging big swinging power punches at one another, falling into sloppy clinches, mauling and brawling all around the ring. The girls swapped shock in the 7th and 8th--both returning to their stools trembling from near KO chin checks, but down the stretch, Tyra would pull away, and pull away, with vigor.

Cindy C's been in a lot of bocing matchjes, some of them true slugfests, but she's never, ever sustaiuned the kind of raucous punishment that she took in the late inningds of this fight from Tyra Banks. It was Banks at her teeth-bared, free-swinging best, just a-roping in loose-limbed stroke, battering and welting Cindy along the apron, clouting to the canvas in the tenth and all but stopping the stupified brunette with the brutal, lanky assault, Crawford's pride saw her to the final bell, staving off the model's walk of shame--but the unrecognizable swell of her face told the tale of this fight. Cindy looked as though Tyura Banks had beaten her with a shovel, and for the first time in her illustrious career, Crawford would receive pleas from friends and fans alike that perhaps now would be a good time to hang up the gloves for good.
