Probably the most anticipated non-title bout of the night opens the lightweight division undercard with the unbeaten Sayuki Matsumoto (Front Street Japan) taking on Team Canada's Alaina Huffman who suffered her maiden loss to French starlet Malika Menard last month.

The odds are still very even despite Huffman losing her unbeaten status; in fact some pundits see this occurance as a favor, because the Canadian Alpha Blonde has gotten rid of the extra pressure surrounding her hitherto winning rout. On the other hand, Sayuki looks very cool entering the ring, one can never tell what's on her mind, but her record speaks for itself and the fight should be a cracker to watch regardless of the final outcome. It's scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Sayuki Matsumoto wearing a white bikini and black gloves. Alaina Huffman wearing a black bikini and reg gloves.

Round 1:
Both girls wary of their potential, circle around the ring and fake few punches, but keep the distance. Sayuki throws a couple of hooks to the head, but Alaina easily sidesteps away and responds with straight jabs that can't even reach the Asian's gloves. More ducking and weaving follow and neither woman is able to land a solid punch to start the fireworks and the crowd gets upset as the first whistles are being heard very quickly. Suddenly the whistles stop as Matsumoto unloads a big jab to the face and Huffman's head snaps backwards before the Asian leaps forward and throws a low combination to the stomach with the Canadian jumoing to the ropes for cover. Sayuki keeps the forward bite and sends more jabs to the midsection, but Alaina sneaks away from trouble thanks to exceptionally fast footwork and she circles back to center of the ring, leaving Sayuki puzzled.

Round 2:
Matsumoto continues her forward momentum, steps in carefully but with a clear intention of taking the fight to the Canadian. Alaina still happy to keep the distance, reverts to single jabs from long-range which cause no harm at all. Matsumoto with a big hook from the left just misses Huffman's head but she leaps up to her again and backs against the ropes. Alaina leans on them and ducks under a right hook, clinching moments afterwards. Sayuki tries to shove her away, but gets laced in the ribs as Alaina leans on her and tries to drag horizontal. Ref doesn't separate them and Alaina lands more low jabs to the midsection making the Japanese wince in anger. Alaina almost jumps on her and traps her head underneath the elbow; only now the ref steps in and things have gotten ugly. Sayuki's cool demeanour has been pushed to the limits and she tries to nail her rival immediately after the command but Alaina begins her dance around the ring again and avoids further trouble. The look is Sayuki's eyes has turned downright evil at the bell. We have one very unhappy Asian hellcat in the ring...

Round 3:
Much to everyone's surprise, Huffman leaps from her stool with a jabbing barrage that lands on Sayuki's stunned face seconds into the third. The Asian might be angry, but it looks like Team Canada hasn't showed their full hand just yet. Alaina in a totally different mood, closing the distance at will, peppering Matsumoto's ribcage with mean intentions. Sayuki tries to respond, throws hooks to the face, but Alaina's footwork is next to none, she weaves to the side and lands an uppercut from the left right on her jaw!!! Shaky knees, anyone? Matsumoto crumbles forwards and looks for a clinch, but Alaina laces her in the mouth and sends flying towards the ropes. Sayuki's jaw must be made of iron, most of the BBU lightweight would have gone stone cold out after that haymaker from the Alpha Blonde, but the Japanese survives, covering along the ropes albeit fully exposed into more nasty jabs from Huffman. The Canadian literally pummels her stomach red but can't break her down for good!! Furious charge from Huffman, as she catches her opponent in the side of the head, but that's come straight off the leather. Single jabs to the guts, Alaina's out of steam finally and Sayuki clinches, moaning quietly. Both girls need a rest after this one and Front Street Japan corner look mighty relieved at the bell.

Round 4:
Sayuki still feeling the onslaught, weaves around the ropes, and it's Huffman's time to chase her around, testing her footwork. Alaina leaps forward, jabs from both flanks, grazes the Asian continuously. Matsumoto's response is weak, she's unable to break the momentum and after a couple of missed hooks, she gets nailed in the jubs by a low uppercut from Huffman who squares right up to her in no time and begins another furious charge. Sayuki stumbled on the ropes after another hook in the chest and Huffman drives forwards with low jabs to the ribs causing the Asian to wince even louder. The crowd is up on it's feet, cheering for the blonde who pummels the hapless Sayuki along the ropes. Gut wrencher from Huffman!!! Sayuki almost screams and gets laced in the ear with a massive right hook!!! Black hair fly everywhere as Alaina works Sayuki's head over like a pumpkin on Freddy Krueger's Halloween Invitational!!! Left, right, left, right... down goes Matsumoto sliding on her backside and looking dazed and confused as the ref starts teh count. Alaina bunny hops around her, shadow boxing, she wants to break her into pieces, one knockdown won't do!!! At six, Sayuki is up on her feet though, still holding the ropes and shaking her head. A combination that would have send half of the BBU lightweights to the hospital has only shaken Matsumoto a little bit. It's not over yet!!! Huffman immediately with another hooking combo to the head, but Sayuki jumps away to the side, forces the Canadian to chase her around and teh cat & mouse game is finally stopped by the bell. Alaina waves her fist walking back to her corner and shouts "It's a matter of time, it's only a matter of time!"

Round 5:
Front Street Japan's cutmen were forced into an extensive job on Sayuki's face during the interval as several small cuts appeared after Huffman's charge in the previous round. Sayuki with an ultimate war face now, she's been decked & shaken, but still not defeated. Alaina with a wide smile, mocks her with a teasing footwork approach and out of nowhere gets laced in the breasts by a left hook. Too much teasing, anyone? Matsumoto leaps forward and jabs the Canadian in the face before a low jab crashes against her ribs. Huffman's stunned, but sidesteps away, launches a counter, throwing single hooks to the head, but they're fruitless as Sayuki walks around them and responds with another low sequence to the guts. Alaina jumps away again, but gets pinned to the corner post, another quick leap to the right and BANG!!! there was Sayuki's haymaker hook waiting for her!!! Alaina gets caught straight in the nose and thrown against the corner post for good. Sayuki with a devilish attack, pounds her in the ribs and chest as the Alpha Blonde covers her face, firmly rooted to the spot. Matsumoto catches a second breath, delivers a series of unanswered jabs all over Huffman's body before she finally runs of ouf steam and forces teh ref to separate them after an extended clinch. Both girls look tired now, Matsumoto with more scratches on her face, but Huffman's nose looks on the verge of drawing blood. Slow circling around the ring continues until the bell.

Round 6:
Team Canada's corner with head coach Amanda Tapping still looks puzzled over the fifth round. Massive haymaker from Matsumoto took all the venom out of their girl's approach but credit to Huffman, most of the BBU lighweights would have been crushed into a heap by this one, let alone being shaken for couple of minutes. Alaina with tampons in her nostrils to stop a potential blood-flow, jumps from her stool not looking as sharp as she was after the fourth but still keen to dish out the punishment. Matsumoto misses a couple of hooks, but so is Huffman. It's back to square one for most of the round as both girls refuse to step in and save their energy for later stages. Alaina looks eager to make something happen, but has trouble breathing through her nostrils and sends few faked punches before backing away, Sayuki's happy just to stop the rout and even more delighted upon seeing her rival taking the previous round seriously into the account. No banzai moves from either side and the lull is finally stopped by the bell. People in the stands start to whistle again, that round was totally out of character, but experienced BBU observers might suspect it was only a calm before the storm.

Round 7:
No signs of the storm at the start of the seventh. Alaina bunny hops around the ring, but fails to close the distance and Sayuki throws some faked punches, just to keep her focus sharp. Finally Huffman with a decent leap forwards, tries to stiff-jab her way into glory but catches only the leather, Matsumoto responds with a wild hook that misses and Alaina lands a solid jab right on her jugs monents later. Both women crash in close-range with Alaina peppering the Asian's mouth with couple of jabs but gets nailed in the ribs with a low combo just as Sayuki was losing her balance and leaning on the ropes. Huffman tries to follow-up with another jab to the face, but Matsumoto ducks underneath and catches her in the ribs again with a massive left hook. Loud scream from the Canadian, she definitely felt that one and Sayuki laces her from the right in the side of the head and shoves in the corner in the proccess. Alaina's been caught off guard, couple of nasty jabs further sink her against the corner post and Sayuki in a matter of seconds and one fortuitous deke, has turned the momentum around and piles on with relentless pounding at the blonde's expense. Huffman's coach Tapping is shell-shocked and struggles to accept what she's seeing, but urges her girl to respond. Alaina tries her best and opens up, only to get laced in the jaw with a massive right hook as Sayuki screams in anger. She's going for the kill!!! Massive couple of hooks shred Alaina's guard to pieces and a monstrous jab to the mouth sends her sliding down the post on her backside!!! Ref starts the count, five.. six.. seven... Huffman's head slumps between her shoulders, she spits out her mouthpiece and it's all over... she won't beat the count!!!! KO R7 Sayuki Matsumoto!!!!

Post-fight:
Matsumoto stands in the middle of the ring with her right arm raised high and soaks up the crowd's celebration which was muted at first, but then exploded after it became clear the Asian fighter is the winner. The nature of ths knockout left most observers equally stunned as Sayuki looked to be heading into her first defeat before coming back and trashing Alaina Huffman.

Meanwhile the medical crew attend the Canadian who keeps checking the state of her teeth and looks worried. She hasn't gotten up for a long while after the knockout and allthough she puts on a brave face in her corner, her eyes tell a different story. It's a major disappointement especially considering the fact she almost had Matsumoto at her mercy. Brief lapse of concentration had enabled the Asian to escape trouble and punish Huffman is the most vicious way possible. But the Aplha Blonde will be back, there's little question about that.

Final result: Sayuki Matsumoto def. Alaina Huffman KO7.
