TESS VALMORE

I had a reasonably good result in the predictions going 16-6 and being pleased when I missed two of them

WATSON/ GELLAR I have to wonder what it is going to take to make Gellar retire. She has now lost 17 of her last 18, 13 by knockouts. In this fight, Gellar looked good for the first three rounds and had control of the fight through five. In the sixth, Watson landed a hook that started Gellar down hill. Then Waston decked Gellar with a left uppercut and a right. Gellar would get up, but the referee waived the fight off giving Watson a TKO win

COOK/ JAMIE LYNN SPEARS The first upset of the night. Cook took the first round, but after that it was all Spears, who took every round except the sixth. A surprisingly good performance by the youngster, who even had Cook ready to go at the end of the fight.

SEYFRIED/ KRUEK. This was quite a fight. Seyfried got off to an early lead only to have Kruek sweep the next five rounds and floor her twice. Then Seyfried made a comeback in the late rounds, managing a draw by downing Kruek in the tenth. Amanda won the eleventh but couldn’t end the fight which Kristin did by taking the twelfth and thirteenth. This was a fight Kruek needed to win and she did.

MOORE/ RIHANNA. Now, this was a fight. Back and fourth. Rihanna winning a round and Moore the next. Rihanna went down twice. Moore went down twice. At the end of ten hard fought rounds it was a draw. The round swapping continued in the eleventh and Twelfth. Moore finally chalked up the win by taking the next two rounds

GOMEZ/ CYRUS. This was a highly competitive fight through four. Cyrus took the lead by decking Gomez in the fifth. After that it, was all downhill for Miley. Gomez would put Cyrus on the canvas in the sixth, and dominate the seventh. A brutal body attack in the eighth left Cyrus being counted out on her knees. The first ten count KO of the night

WAGNER/ YUSTMAN. This is turning out to be a fine card. Another highly competitive and exciting fight. Yustman took a wide lead winning rounds five through seven. Wagner rallied to take the last three rounds including putting Yustman on the canvas in the eighth. It was that knockdown that won the fight for Wagner. Five rounds each with the knockdown being the deciding factor

HELFER/ SWANEPOEL Note to young fighters. Don’t take a cell phone call during weigh in. Swanepoel pretty much sealed her doom with that call. A fired up Helfer is not an opponent you want to face as Swanepoel found out. Candice did make it to the fifth round but no further as a vicious Helfer body attack left her in shambles on the canvas being counted out. The call also earned her the walk of shame.

RIGHETTI/ BROOK By now everyone who regularly reads Tractorpull knows what I think of Righetti. This fight went as we more of less expected. As expected, Righetti dominated at least the seven rounds and at that point had the fight won. What we didn’t expect was the late Brook rally, It was too little, too late. Righetti won by a wide decision

PEREGRYM/ WINSTEAD. Winstead had two huge rounds. The first round, which was 10-8 with a knockdown and the sixth, which was 10-8 without a knockdown. She followed up the sixth by taking the seventh. Three rounds, however, is not enough to win a fight, as Missy took the other seven to get a wide decision. I thought it was a good performance by a fighter whom I think is under-rated

VERGARA/ UPTON I said in my predictions that this fight held no interest for me. Just a couple models whose only talent lay in their bras. a talent they share with a couple hundred million other women. Just mindless slugging that Upton won with a third round KO. Of course than we had to watch the usual disgusting Jeri’s post fight humiliation, which I will not justify with a description

KELLY/ LILLY This was a hotly contested fight, but not close when it came to the decision. Lilly built up an early lead taking four of the first five rounds including a first round knockdown. Minka managed to win the sixth and eighth rounds only to have Lilly salt the fight away with a tenth round knockdown. A good spectator fight.

DE RAVIN/ STEVENS. One of the more one sided fights of the night. De Ravin waltzed through the first five rounds decking Stevens in both the fourth and fifth. Stevens did catch De Ravin in the sixth dropping her, but that is about all Stevens had as DeRavin took eight of the ten rounds to get the decision

GLAU/ CAMPBELL. Another hotly contested fight, but this one was fairly close. Campbell had the lead at the half way point winning three rounds with two knockdowns. Glau came on in the second half and forged ahead as far as rounds were concerned at the end of nine. Neve rallied to score another knockdown in the tenth to take the round. The three knockdowns gave Neve the decision

ROWLAND/ VALANCE The shortest fight of the night. Valance was never in the fight as Rowland took the first round and then floored Valance twice in the second. Valance was counted out half way through the round. Rowland getting a reputation as a hitter.

TISDALE/ SCAGLIOTTI Scagliotti coming off a shocking win over Sarah Carter had a really bad night courtesy of Tisdale. It was brutal and it was one sided as Tisdale decked Scagliotti in the first three rounds and then lathered her into a stupor and the fight was mercifully stopped in the fourth round. Tisdale with a fourth round TKO

COLE/ THERON I was SHOCKED. SHOCKED I say when the bell rang at the end of the second round saving a knocked out Theron, by her own admission, from her third straight defeat. Give the old girl the credit though. She put on a six round show, flooring Cole twice and then withstood a final Cole surge to get the decision. This was one of the fights that I am glad that I got wrong.

DANES/ BECKINSALE As I recall Beckinsale started out at lightweight and dropped down to bantam. Danes started at flyweight and just moved up to bantam. I thought Beckinsale would give a good account of herself. I didn’t expect her to win but I never thought she would get blitzed the way she did. Danes handed Kate probably the worst round of her career pounding Beckinsale at will in the fifth until the referee stopped the fight.

KUNIS/ JOHANNSON Kunis’s career has been resurgent under the Consortium. Johannson was going to be a tough opponent and she was. The fight was close most of the way. it was even after four. Kunis then took the next three rounds to go three up
In the eighth Johannson scored a important knockdown and then took the ninth. Both needed the last round and it was Kunis who won the round and the fight

PORTMAN/ PANETTIERE A highly anticipated fight. While there was plenty of action, the fight was more one sided than we expected. Portman took the first three rounds and then the last four. She also had the only knockdown. It was an impressive defense for Natalie. Her win gives the Consortium a four for four night

BIEL/ PALICKI This was the fight that I was looking forward to seeing. I had predicted a Biel win and then was actually rooting for Palicki. Adrianne got off to a great start taking the first four rounds. Biel come on big time in the fifth and sixth decking Palicki in both rounds. They managed to split the seventh and eighth but Palicki won the last two rounds to win the fight and her second lightweight title in a year,

LIMA/ LIVELY Lima’s win over Brook to take the Ice Hotel crown was an upset. Surely Lima was not going to beat Lively. After all Lima’s a model. At the end of the fight my mouth was hanging open in astonishment as Lima’s was still the queen of the Ice Hotel. Going into the ninth Lima had a huge lead and had been dominating the fight. In the ninth Lively surged, decking Lima and having her ready to go but Lima lasted the round. The tenth round brought a reversal. Lively would go down and was a standing wreck when the fight came to an end. Lima was triumphant

LAWRENCE/ PREJEAN Lawrence build up continues. If there is anything like a sure thing in the FCBA, a fight against Prejean is it. Lawrence knocked out Prejean in the fifth with an overhand left. Knocking out Prejean doesn’t quite seem to be a big deal. She has now lost ten straight, nine of them by knockouts. Some pundits seem impressed. I am not. If she beats someone other the Prejean I will start paying attention.

Gellar doesn't take a great shot anymore, but her skills are undiminished. She can beat a lot of CW honies, and if so, why retire? She needs to pick away at the youngsters, get some cagey-cougar wins and work her way back into the scene.

Kreuk: mentally tough. Always seems to come through when given an ultimatum from Corporate.

Is Mandy Moore the headiest Welter?

Gomez can fight a little. Not as much as she can talk, but she can fight if she's allowed to do her thing.

Strong showing for Wagner against an opponent who has broken a lot of hearts.

You don't see Tricia "The Sorceress" Helfer get her mind played very often. There's more to Swanny than meets the eye, obviously.

Good fight for MEW. Missy was on top of her game, but had to be, to win this.

If Glau had beaten Neve...I don't know what I might have done. Something crazy. Summer's just way, way too unpredictable.

Cole/Theron: great poster; great fight.

I hope Becks makes Danes a priority and makes some attempt to get this win back from Claire. It's a good classy, thinking man's match up, and I don't think 1 fight's gonna do it.

Not a fan of Kelly Rowland. Know who I really like? Aly Michalka and Holly Valance. Damn that Kelly!

Biel/Pallicki surprised me in the way it played out. More Vernon Forrest/Shane Mosley in aspect than Hearns/Duran (which was what I would have written if Pallicki had gotten an early KO).

Lima gets a Superbowl commercial; takes the Ice Hotel from a hated rival; DEFENDS the hotel from another hated rival; earns JKO hate in the process...Suddenly everything's coming up Ady LIma.

Jen Lawrence doesn't look nimble to me, but she looks rugged, smart, and heavy handed. Prejean may not be much of a test, but there's beating Prejean in a way that's not compelling, and there's beating Prejean in a way that makes you say: "Hey, I'd like to see more of the winner!" Jen banked the second kind of Prejean-beating.

I hope the FCBA has awakened to the danger that HISC is once again presenting at sub120. With the kind of wing-support their fighters give each other...if HISC can secure the bantam belt, we may be looking at a tyranny the likes of which we've rarely seen before.
