BOXING AFTER DARK

BEFORE. "There is a reason why I decided to sign with Empire Boxing -Penelope tells one reporter in the prefight interviews- and this reason is Sienna. They managed to put her in a title fight, winning -can you imagine it? Sienna Miller, Champion? Anyway, if they managed to get her a title shot, they won't have any problem in putting me in line. This is exactly what I want -to be Champion again!" Hearing these words, Sienna frowns, rolling her eyes in disbelief. "Penelope? Cruz? The one able to win only against Lea Seydoux? The old Spaniard? Oh come on... Penelope could be a good gatekeeper -or a sparring partner for someone here at Empire- but not a Champion. Not anymore. I am younger, and better than her -that's what I will show her tonight. And I could go on forever, of course, now that she's in the gym. Get used to it, Pene!" Miller in white bikini, green gloves; Penelope in red bikini, black gloves. They stare at each other, and then touch gloves, but with a hatred grin on their faces!

R1. Girls circle each other, jabbing away, keeping distance and doing some footwork to avoid close contact. Miller slightly better here, getting most of the action in the first two minutes, but Penelope is not sitting back. Cruz finally gets closer, hits Sienna's body with a nice right/left combo, but Miller gets away again. Miller's round, but Penelope is responsive.

R2. Cruz starts better, hooks hitting Sienna's body here, but not getting enough power to get her into troubles. Sienna quick on her legs, escaping most of Penelope's punches, and then ducking a left hook to the head that might have done serious damage. Cruz measuring her punches, not willing to risk an attack here; Sienna happy to resort to jabbing. Close round again, with Penelope controlling most of it.

R3. Finally the two start to go at each other, closer, exchanging punches to the body before getting apart again. Both active, vibrant in their action, but still unable to hit each other clean. Miller works on Pene's left side though, giving her a slight edge at the end of the round.

R4. Sienna gets the initiative, finally stepping in and peppering Penelope with her right hand. Cruz covers well, gets closer, and finally unleashes her right! Miller hit, but she answers in rhymes and finally the two trade punches. Nice exchange here, in the middle of the ring, even between the two, but then it's Sienna that finds Pene's face! Right hand finally passes through Cruz's guard, hitting her face. Cruz stepping back, Miller chasing her, right hook that scores again for Miller. With Penelope trapped at the ropes, Miller starts to unleash on her body and hits Pene's skull once more with the right hook. Cruz dazed, covers well to let the round end and find some rest on her stool. Miller grins -she thinks she has found Penelope's soft spot.

R5. Penelope looks hurt from the previous exchange, and Miller knows it. Blonde girl measuring her jab first, then comes closer to Pene and pummels her body. Penelope screaming, trying to counter with a right hook, but she misses and Sienna gets a clean shot to the head. Penelope goes wobbly legs, but she's still able to stay up, now protecting her head with her guard. Sienna closes on her again, but Penelope finally reacts. Spaniard now dances on her heels, muscling Sienna to the ropes, and then pummels her left side with the right. Sienna finishes with her back on the ropes, but gets another round overall to increase her lead.

R6. Miller senses her foes slowing down, and goes for the KO. But Sienna is a little too excited, anfd while she is effective at pushing Penelope to the ropes, she doesn't get the finishing touch. Cruz able to clinch, breaking Sienna's attack -Spanish girl resorting to experience here to try to stop the one-sided attack from the very determined British girl.

R7. More of what we have seen in the previous round: Cruz defensive, unable to advance, sent backwards by Sienna's peppering right; Sienna spirited, clearly knowing of Penelope's troubles. Miller works at the body, Penelope hugs her in another attempt to clinch, but Sienna's right hand finds her face. Pene reacts with a right from her own, but it's Sienna that gets two more clean shots on Pene's pretty face. Cruz dazed, tired, outclassed in these short-range exchanges -she looks shabby after the seventh.

R8. Cruz out with her mitts up, close, but she's a wounded animal. Miller quicker, right jab that explores opportunities in several occasions and finally break through Penelope's guard! Cruz slower than earlier, touched hard by the right hook, tries a right swing but misses and gets hint again. Guard now slightly down, with Sienna that pours in, hitting Pene's cheeks with a right/right/left/right exchange AND PENELOPE GOES DOWN! Spanish girl hurt, she gets up at 8 but she's shabby. Miller works with the right, pushes her to the ropes and then punishes her there. Poor Pene with her back on the ropes, butt pressing hard against it, with Sienna just pouring in with the right, hitting her face repeatedly AND FINALLY THE REF STEPS IN! He's just seen enough -Cruz unable to defend herself anymore, red and blue in face for the punishment, collapses into the arms of the referee. Miller ecstatic, Cruz in tears -a clear pecking order at Empire Boxing is now established!

AFTER. Sienna jumping around the ring, still fresh, still determined, thoroughly enjoying the vision of her stablemate beaten into stupor. "I told you -I am stronger, I am better, and I need to go all the way to the top. Ledoyen and Cruz were easy targets, now it's Hayden's turn, and then it will be Nat's -or whatever loser is going to replace her- the flyweight belts will be mine again, very soon!" That said, Sienna grabs poor Penelope by the waist, bringing the groggy Spaniard around the ring for a humiliating walk of shame.
