The Main Event of the Lioness Club Bantamweight Invitational features the local favorite, Charlotte Church and the newcomer from France, Clemence Poesy on duty for the Tech Unlimited Europe. Despite Helena Mattsson and Kym Marsh stealling the honours with their firecrackers just minutes earlier, there's still a lot to expect from this bout as Church still relishes her Welsh bantam title she won in January by knocking out arch rival Katherine Jenkins while Poesy enters the ring for only the second time in her career, having lost her debut to Hayley Atwell last September.

Experience-wise, Church is long way ahead of the French girl, but Poesy claims her tenure with Tech stable has given her the all-important edge and she's ready to make her second entrance into BBU. Latin Union's Clara Morgane is widely speculated to be her next opponent in the near future.

"Charlotte's good for local clubs", Poesy says, "I'm about to conquer the entire Europe and this is my proper start! Watch out, everyone, France is going to rule all over BBU soon! We already have Virginie and Malika doing fantastic job and well, I know Elodie Frege has been avoiding me for one big reason. I'm simply the best French bantamweight out there! Coward! She had to send her friend Morgane and I'm willing to take her on after I'm done with Church!"

Clemence's pre-fight comments triggered a vile response from Charlotte "Those French creampuffs have really become unbereable lately. I'm gonna blow Poesy's doors off and that's a fact. I don't care whom she targets as her next victims, look what I've done with Jenkins. All those big mouthed minions will be crushed!"

The atmosphere inside the KO Club in Barnet is electric and the crowd wants to see a repeat of the opening bout where the other local favorite also won via impressive knockout. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Church immediately wants to make a statement, peppers the French girl from mid-range with intensive jabbing but Clemence covers her off before unloading a nasty hook to the head. No respect from the visitor as she grazes the blonde's ear and tries to follow up with another to the tummy. Church jumps to the side and misses couple of hooks as both girls circle around each other, having endured a brief early exchange. Charlotte throws some quick jabs but keeps the distance as Poesy leaps back and forth, looking more agile, but also holding back. Church with more aggression inside the last minute, throws more hooks to the head, but Clemence's guard holds up well and she responds with some low jabs to the midsection that firmly keep the local blonde along the ropes until the bell.

Round 2:
Charlotte with aggressive start, laces her rival in the stomach with a low hook and follows up with a nasty uppercut to the jaw, but Poesy blocks it and clinches as Church jumped up to her but found no breakthrough. Few nasty punches to the midsection from both girls until the ref shoves Clemence to the corner and enable Charlotte to leap up to her and land a solid sequence to the stomach. Poesy winces but covers low and clinches again as the Welsh blonde was too eager to close the distance. Clemence's couple of inches taller and allthough looks slimmer of the two, she sidesteps away from the corner after the ref pushed Church to break the clinch. Charlotte still with intesive jabbing, but only grazes her opponent in the arms and body as Poesy responds with wild hooks to the face that land nowhere. Round ends with both girls circling around each other in opposite corners.

Round 3:
There's still no breaktrough for either woman, Poesy keeps the Welsh blonde at bay with her longer reach and hops around the ring. still looking more agile and quicker of the two. Church leaps forward few times but cannot land a solid combo anywhere, just laces the French blonde with single jabs and has to retreat when Poesy dishes out similar kind of answer. More circles around the ring and fake punches as the crowd still keeps it's composure, not every bout can end inside the first four rounds and this already looks like a cagey affair with Church unable to close her rival down on a permanent basis. At the bell, Church looks upset and there's a hint of smile on the Frenchwoman's face.

Round 4:
Desperate leap from Charlotte who whacks a couple of solid hooks to the head and pushes Clemence to the ropes, but the French girl ducks under a huge right hook and nails the Welsh blonde in the ribcage as she was turning away. Church hassles her around the ropes, tries to set up a trap, but can't close her down and throws a wild series of hooks, that cut through the air and make Poesy look like female version of Cassius Clay with all her dancing and weaving. BANG! Left hook out of nowhere snaps Charlotte's head back and Clemence pours in with series of gutwrenchers, sending the stunned Welsh blonde to the ropes herself. Wild slaps from both flanks as Poesy sinks Church on the ropes and crowd goes silent. Charlotte almost stumbles over and with a lucky break, avoids a belter to the nose, and ducks under her elbow, clinching and lacing her in the back. Poesy tries to shove her away, but gets pulled down and almost wrestles the Welsh blonde to the ground as well. Ref steps in, shoves Church to the opposite corner as Clemence turns up a gear and begins to hassle her, throwing a flurry of punches. Charlotte literally runs herself out of trouble and looks totally surprised by this wake-up call as she heads towards her stool after the bell.

Round 5:
Clemence comes out with aggressive jabbing, laces the local girl in the midsection and Charlotte has to back away. Her response is worthless, couple of low jabs crash off Poesy's ribcage but make hardly any impression as the slender built French girl looks much tougher then in her debut against Atwell where she clearly got overwhelmed by the occassion. Chuch keeps biding her time along the ropes as Clemence has the foot on the gas now, peppers her to the arms and body, grazes the jugs and lands few quick jabs on the face on top of that. Nothing too fancy, nothing too hurtful, but Charlotte can't get anything going and allows the Frenchwoman to make her look obscure at the very best. She tries to break the momentum by leaping forwards against the flow, but cannot even clinch, let alone land a solid punch on Poesy's face. On the contrary, Clemence nails her in the chest a couple of times and Church ends the round backed against the ropes, watching her rival hopping back and forth in the middle of the ring. Crowd starts to whistle, this is not what they've expected to see.

Round 6:
Despite a good spell of pressure from her rival, Church shows little signs of being hurt since there's little real venom behind Poesy's shots. Into the sixth and the Welsh blonde circles around, drops her arms and tries to tease the French girl into a more audacious attack, but Clemence slowly moves forward, jabbing from mid-distance and looking happy with the way things stand. Charlotte tries some low jabs to the ribcage but despite landing few of them cleanly, Clemence barely winces and keeps aiming at her face, grazing her in the ear a couple of times in the proccess. Charlotte back away again and leans against the ropes; single jabs from Poesy crash off her guard though before Church finally lands a proper hook to the ribs which makes Poesy moan louder. She tries to land more shots to the local girl's face in response but catches the leather and clinches soon as Charlotte peppers her ribs repeatedly. Clemence leans on her and looks to break the clinch but cannot remove her arm from underneath Church's elbow and the ref turns a blind eye on things! Couple of wild hooks really hit the French girl hard in the ribs and she wraps her free arm around the Welsh blonde's neck. Ref finally steps in but before he can separate the girls, the bell sounds.

Round 7:
Charlotte drives forward, looking more lively of the two as the fight enters the deciding stages. Some strenght issues for Poesy who was breathing heavily during the interval and cannot match her opponnet's speed across the ring early in the seventh. Back and forth hopping from Charlotte who lands a solid combo to the stomach and backs Poesy to the ropes. She tries a follow-up hook, but Clemence ducks underneath it and steps back to center of the ring. She throws more single jabs, but Church's not so hesitant anymore as she was couple of rounds earlier. Perpahs she's spotted someting in her rival's eyes? Intensive jabs land on Clemence's midsection and breasts as she's visibly slower on her feet and can't keep the charging Welsh girl at bay. Wild slaps from Church who keeps pounding away at her rival, landing them mostly on her gloves but also lacing clean in the face and stomach sometimes. Poesy's turn to look pedestrian, she stumbles and wobbles herself for remainder of the round and the crowd regain that feeling Chuch's only one punch away from sending her foe down and out. But Clemence survies, albeit puffing with difficulty and her pale skin is reddened as well. It's a brave showing from the French girl so far, but she's feeling the effects of this contest already.

Round 8:
More forward bites from Charlotte who now lands najority of her shots clean on Clemence's flesh and the response is getting weaker with every second. Poesy's single jabs make no impression on the Welsh bantam champ when not backed with superior footwork and Clemence looks plain tired. Church dishes out further punishment, jabbing merrily at the tummy and making the French hopeful moan in pain. The entire second half of this round sees Poesy backed against the ropes, ducking and weaving in desperation as the crowd's reaction gets louder and louder with Church's every punch landing on her aching opponent. Clemence's high-guard holds up well though, despite her midsection already being slowly turned into a mush. Charlotte repeatedly seeks a big haymaker but can't break through the guard and eventually gives up the chase, clinches with mean intentions, peppers Poesy's ribcage even further as both women remain glued to the ropes until the bell. Church begins to smile while walking back to her stool whereas Clemence's holding her stomach in visible pain.

Round 9:
Funereal pace from Poesy at the start of the ninth. The mind is still there but the body refuses to accept the limits being reached. Church squares up to her immediately and throws a series of hooks to the face. Clemence's arms were slowed to be raised for once and she gets nailed in the nose and cheek, stumbling backwards against the ropes. Charlotte pours in with another charge, the French girl can't duck and weave anymore and sinks on her knees when struck by a ferocious jab to the nose. For heaven's sake, that was almost like clubbing a baby seal!! DOWN GOES POESY crashing hard on her right side!!! Crowd errupts as Charlotte leaps up in joy and punches the air!!! Ref starts the count and somehow Clemence tries to get up, she's up at her knees as five and with the help of the ropes, climbs back upright at eight!! But the ref signals the end anyway, she reached the sitting duck level red zone and literally can't walk back to her stool, her lungs out of breath alltogether. TKO R9 Charlotte Church!!!

Post-fight:
Standing ovation from the audience and Charlotte Church climbs the ropes, blowing kisses left, right and center. Despite a very rough patch in the middle stages, her experience prevailed in the end over Clemence Poesy's grinding nature. Unfortunately for the French starlet, the physical preparation let her down in the deciding moments and allowed Church to simply outlast her for the victory. The nature of defeat was perhaps harsh for Poesy who has shown glimpses of becoming a really malicious grinder. She enjoyed a wonderful middle stages where she repeatedly annoyed the experienced Welsh opponent with her tactics, but couldn't carry them on for the whole duration of the fight. If she improves her fitness, she'll be a thorn in many BBU bantamweight sides.
