Before: "She's cooled off a little," Jen says of Yvonne in prefight, "but she's still one of the 3 or 4 best blondes in boxing - if not THE best on any given night. Hammering a woman like this says a lot; says I'm retiring at the peak of my powers. I'm super excited: this is the kind of opponent who always brings out the best in me!" Yvonne champing at the bit: chance to send Jen packing with a loss is one of the most valuable cap-feathers in boxing today. "Jennifer Garner is a true legend in our sport," Yvonne contends at podium, "beating her at any time is a thrill, and it's a real resume highlight. Once I've put her name in my win column, I'm definitely going over the entry with a neon highlighter...want people to take note of that one!" Jennifer in tiger print bikini top; black bottoms with tiger print waistband; small black gloves; hair tied back off her brows. Yvonne in metallic emerald bikini; small yellow gloves; short blonde fighting tousle.

During R1: Minute of legs/range finding jabs/parrying before girls settle into range - Jen putting punches together against Vonnie's gut; Yvonne ripping left/right uppercuts to chin from her front (left) leg. Spirited stuff; girls break off contact; circle; step back in...more banging hustle as fighters deploy compact licks, bringing mitts back quick to block. Bell: mutual respect shown as fighters cross to respective corners, slapping each other's right mitts en route.

R2: Same busy, technically sound, professional fare: fighters circling springy-legged; getting off tart tic-tac-toe; being defensively sound when not punching. Jen's jab doing a good job of managing Yvonne's speed; Strahovski's licking uppercuts scraping Jen's chin to good effect - possibly giving blonde girl the round by the smallest of margins.

R3: Same again - ripping exchanges throughout the ring as girls circle for advantage, then commit to trade in spots. Both with highlights...Jen doubling up her knock-knock jab to blonde pate while sidestepping clockwise; Yvonne licking torrid hooks amidships with a succulent back-bend delivery, then beating Jen to right crosses up top. Bell: same story...Vonnie with a slender edge in connect percentage, though both vixens completely convinced they've won the heat.

R4: Jen hurts Yvonne early with determined right/lefts curled tight to ribcage...blonde girl backs into ropes, face grimacing...Jen walks into clinch for ref reset. Second minute, Garner trying to walk Vonnie down...supple blonde girl slide-stepping backwards just out of reach, walking Garner into whippy check-hooks on the chin...Jen's knees give a shimmy; Vonnie pounces in via slinging right hand and GARNER GOES DOWN! Balletic stuff from Yvonne...Jen startled, then dropping to her buns in amazement: blonde girl striding past all ferocious eyes/tight lips. Garner up quick, takes an alert 8...Vonnie quickly atop to finish, but encountering well-organized and determined resistance at apron. Girls banging away body/head at close-quarters - Jennifer coming off the canvas strong, denying Vonnie the finishing run.

R5: Same hard to score minutes - Jen keeping dukes up, weaving close, deploying to ribs right/left...Vonnie issuing right uppercuts from right (back) leg; strapping hooks to jug, then long-jabbing Jen's mouth as Garner's disengaging. Both women defensively sound, moving their heads, never hurt...Vonnie once again just a bit more efficient, scoops the points to add to her lead on all cards.

R6; Jen hurt early by a slippery Strahovski right hand pulled up off the hip and chopped to chin...Garner spends a minute wobbly-butt and covered up, trying to get her legs back. Straho walking hurt Jen down, strapping hooks to stout waistline, looking for more right hand insurance up top, but Jen recovering well...by the third minute, women are exchanging on even terms - Vonnie unable to break Garner down any further. More points for Strahovski; Garner back to her corner busting up, but acting/sounding very confident on her stool.

R7: Darting jabs from Yvonne - she stitches mitt to forehead, then slidesteps out of range, constantly luring Jen forward. Straho leggy to her right, touching Jen, dictating distance. Garner dukes-at-brows - stooping to reach her jab for sleek blonde ribcage...midway through, she gets caught reaching: Vonnie pulling the cute pull-counter right hand out of her front pocket, chopping it down and across Jen's chin! GARNER'S WOBBLY BUTT! Jen stepping in fence post holes, hands shaky at temples...she's stooping forward hurt, vulnerable to one, two, THREE limber right uppercuts as Vonnie delivers from left (front) plant-leg. Uppercut salvo loosens Jen up...she wobbles to her left out of orbit, eyes glassy, hands dropping...Vonnie lunges in all leggy, drawing her left hook up and around from her thigh, clouting Garner clean across the mouth and SENDING JEN TO HER BACK! What a blow - Vonnie Strahovski leaping forward, twisting supple into a glorious, sweeping hook - Jen Garner blown to her back/knees up/hands above her head/lashes fluttering. IT'S OVER! Jenny G can't get off her back: KO7 Yvonne Strahovski in whiplash fashion.

AFter: Jennifer gets salts on her stool as a BEAMING Yvonne Strahovksi stands for in-ring post-fight. "I dreamed of knocking Jen out," Straho admits, "but we never spoke of it in camp. We worked hard on countering and distance, because Jen HAS lost just that smidge of speed, and that was our margin for victory. She's very strong for a lightweight - welterweight strong: I'll be feeling her body punches for a week I'm sure. But I think it's time for her, you know? She's a hall of famer; she's been a terror amongst the lightweight division for a long time, but tonight, I picked her apart and beat her to punches that I probably wouldn't have a few years ago. The knockout says a lot: her spirit is willing, but I'm not sure she's taking the punch she once did. I might just have faced the last "best" version of Jen Garner...after tonight, I wonder what she'll have left?"
