TESS VALMORE

First, let me admit right off the bat that I had a terrible time in predictions. For the first time since Tractorpull restarted the predictions, I went underwater going 8-11, partially owing to the incredible upset of all three leading welters. Who would have thought the Regan, Righetti and Landry would all lose on the same night. There are some more fights to come.

MEESTER/ EVIGAN Meester breaks a six fight losing streak. It was a good close fight ,which was basically even through six. Meester forged ahead by taking rounds seven and eight. Evigan took round nine. Meester’s corner figuring she was ahead on the cards told her to stay away from Evigan, which she did and got the decision

SWAN/ DEELEY A pretty one sided bout. Deeley managed to take the first round, but after that it was all Swan. Serinda decked Deeley in the second and again in the fourth. Deeley survived the fifth, but not the sixth. A Swan uppercut draped Deeley in the ropes, and the referee had seen enough and stopped the fight. Deeley now has to face Swan's stablemate and rival, Decker

SWANEPOEL/ MICHALKA I had predicted that Swanepoel would win this fight. In the first round, it looked like I was going to be right as Swanepeol put Michalka on the canvas. Unfortunately for me and Candice, she couldn’t finish her. Candice was unable to follow up in the second and third. Her night was suddenly ended by a couple Michalka left hooks that left the model down on the canvas for the count,

KELLY/ A. J. COOK This was much like the Swan/ Deeley fight. Kelly had a good first round, but after that it was all Cook. She hurt Kelly in the second and floored her in the third. Kelly was unable to recover between rounds and was easy picking for Cook, who battered her almost at will until the referee stopped the fight. Cook by a TKO4

ROBBIE/ GREENE Robbie owned the first half of this fight sweeping all five rounds. Greene made a comeback in the next three rounds. Robbie salted the fight away in the ninth. Greene made a fight of it, but couldn’t overcome the early lead that Robbie had built up. Robbie UD

WINSTEAD/ LAWRENCE. What a night for Lawrence. She demolishes Winstead as her movie debuts to huge audiences. Winstead said this was not one of her better performances. That was an not an understatement. She has had a lot of poor performances recently, but Lawrence simply used her as a body bag. She ripped into Winstead’s torso until her guard dropped in the fourth, and ended it with a hook. This was Winstead’s eighth straight FCBA loss. Mr Fox can’t be happy. As for Lawrence, she is certainly in the number two spot at the Academy. I still think that the jury is still out on Lawrence.

WILLIAMS/ SCERBO I doubt it is news to anyone that this was a tough fight for me to watch. Williams ripped into Cassie and decked her in the first round. Cassie got on the cards in the third. In the fourth, Williams jammed Scerbo into the ropes and with the help of a little trunk punching gave Scerbo a vicious beating until the referee stopped the fight. This was the seventh fight of the night and the fourth to end in the fourth round.

JOHANNSON/ SEYFRIED Are we seeing a pattern here. A fighter (Seyfried) gets off to a good start in the first round and then goes down hill from there. Seyfried gave Scarlett a good beating in the first but after that she lost every round, getting decked in the fourth and knocked out in the fifth. It was a right uppercut to the chin that ended the fight. Johannson KO5

LIVELY/ HELFER A one sided bout. After the third round, it was all Helfer who feasted on Lively’s body, round after round. Lively would go down in the sixth. She would get up, but shouldn’t have bothered. Helfer went right back at the body in the seventh until Lively went down again, this time for the count. An impressive performance from Helfer

UNION/ DURANCE. Talk about a fight that comes to a screeching halt, this was it. Durance was looking good through three. Then Union came on, taking the fourth, putting Erica on the canvas in the fifth and giving her a terrible beating in the sixth. Union had a good first two minutes in the seventh before Durance made a minor comeback. Union was looking good in the eighth until a huge right hook dropped Union for the count.

PERABO/ DUSHKU Classic “sheriff”. Dushku came out firing, flooring Perabo in the first. Perabo looked a little better in the second, but lost the round. In the third Perabo lost the fight. A left uppercut from Eliza rang Perabo bell and Dushku took it from there to pound Perabo into a stoppage. A fine showing from Dushku. It was a performance that could well earn her a title shot

SARA UNDERWOOD/ K. BELL A word of advice to Miss Underwood. Quit now. This wasn’t quite an execution, but it did resemble one. Underwood was simply cannon fodder for Bell. Bell dropped Underwood in the second and beat her to a pulp in the third, when the referee stopped the fight

GARNER/ STRAHOVSKI Let me clear up one impression I may have made. While I may not think quite as highly of Strahovski as some, I have never said I didn’t like her. I do. i wanted Garner to win this fight strictly for sentimental reasons. I want her final tour to be a successful one. It seems less likely now. Strahovski was very good tonight. I am not sure if Garner took a single round. She went down in the fourth, and lost the fifth and sixth rounds. In the seventh, a right hand hurt Garner badly and a little later a left put her on the canvas for the count.

GOVICH/ LANDRY A lot of fights are ending early tonight. This was another. It was a war while it lasted. Landry kissed the canvas in the first. Govich did it in the second. In the third Landry went down three times. The last time, she didn’t get up. Govich with a big KO upset

PATTON/ RIGHETTI This has to be the upset of the night on a night of upsets. No way Patton beats Righetti, right? Someone forgot to tell Patton. She gave Righetti one of the worst beatings of her career. Righetti did drop Patton in the fourth, but she went down twice in the first, once in the sixth and a final time in the ninth when she was counted out. I had Righetti taking only two rounds. Patton looked like champ tonight. I see where she wants Lawrence. Both rookies, that could be a headliner.

PORTMAN/ TISDALE. The first title fight of the night and a title change. Lot of fights ending early tonight and this was another. The champ took the first round. In the second, suddenly Portman was no longer champ. She got careless and caught a hook. That was all that Tisdale needed, and she played a little chin music for Portman and by time she was through the referee had stopped the fight. Tisdale brings the title to Lookout in another big upset

CUTHBERT/ McADAMS The second title match of the night and the second title change. This was a fine bout while it lasted. Cuthbert was hurt in the first. McAdams was hurt in the second. Cuthbert went down once and McAdams twice in a rousing third. In the sixth Cuthbert got hurt by a couple body punches before a vicious right to the solar plexus put her down breathless for the count, The bantam title moves to Foxfire.

PALICKI/ COLE The third title fight of the night as this time the title did not change. Palicki looked like she was going to run away with the bout taking the first five rounds and flooring Cole in the third. Cole started a comeback the fifth and came close to winning the fight in the seventh, when she decked Palicki twice. Cole, however, was unable to follow up. She still had a chance to win in the tenth but Palicki managed to win the round late and get the decision. One has to wonder if the Theron fight had anything to do with Cole’s performance tonight. She had beaten Adrianne the two times they had met before. That’s taking nothing away for Palicki of whom we have a very high opinion.

REGAN/ THERON The fourth title fight. A huge win for the “golden goddess” in a fight that we hated to see either contestant lose. I have to admit being wrong twice here, the first time in the prediction. I have been in the ring with both, Charlize as late as this week. I was surprised at Charlize’s speed and she can hit hard. Regan hits harder, but is not as fast. I thought Charlize could win if she stayed away and boxed. If she chose to slug, she would be toast. Imagine my surprise when she pounded Bridget to the canvas three times in the second and again in the fifth. When Bridget landed that right in the sixth, I thought it was over. Charlize had some rough rounds, but having taken four of the first five she had a good lead and elected to run in the ninth. She should have run in tenth as Bridget gave her a beating, Charlize, however was able to hold on and walk away with the belts. It is now 29 championships and 63 belts for Charlize. By the way did you see the picture Kim posted. Theron looks hotter in a black dress than most of the FCBA do in bikinis (that will get me in trouble with someone)
