Karen has had no success in FCBA, and she now takes on the big hitting Nicola, who took big Wunmi Mosaku out with just one rasping punch – how much talent does she have, though?

The girls are in the ring, with Karen in a black bikini top and black microskirt looking fine, with Nicola McLean just hot in an orange bikini.

Round 1

McLean showed she can do very well at the beginning of the fight or is she a one punch wonder? In any case, Gillan starts well, and she surprisingly shuts down Nicola in the first two minutes, the model just unable to find the room to send any of those whippy hooks of hers into the Scot’s face. But Karen’s landing her punches, and she’s working that lovely body of Micola’s hard, spatting punches in from either hand, and keeping the glamourgirl busy in defence. As the round nears the end, Gillan is visibly slowing down, but Nicola has been surprised by the actress’s aggression, and neither girl does in much in the last minute of the round, seeming to prefer to keep themselves for the second round.

Round 2

And there’s more of the same punishment for Nicola to absorb from Karen, pushing and shoving the blonde around now, and she’s not getting much back from the model as yet, the girl seeming to be holding back, not committing herself too much. The round enters the second half, and now Nicola finally answers! There’s a torrid series of exchanges, with Karen surprisingly holding up well under Nicola’s first real attack of the fight, the blonde slamming punches into the readhaed’s face, and then she drills one into the belly, then the jaw, and Gillan’s feeling her power, gritting her teeth and hanging on as McLean evens the scores up now.

Round 3

The round opens with more of the same action, Karen really mixing it with Nicola this time, and not letting the model get on top of her. Both girls engaging in a crowd-pleasing punch-out show with no clear winner at the moment – maybe McLean hits harder, but Gillan’s landing more shots than she is, and she’s having to back off and punch in retreat at times, but when she does connect, boy does Karen know it! This is a huge workload from Karen, and she’s certainly eager to win her first BBU fight and show that she’s not the jobber she seemed at times in FCBA.

Round 4

Karen seems a little tired from her exertions in those first three crazy rounds, and she slows down in the opening minute after Nicola bangs her face twice with left hook, giving her a nasty swelling now on her right cheek, which Gillan will need to try to protect. As the time wears on, the actress is becoming visibly unfocused as Mclean gets through with a heavy combination of jabs and hooks to her head, and Karen’s gloves are dropping, so Nicola punishes her severely landing a series of unanswered punches to the face, knocking her down with a right hook to the mouth. Karen’s up at six, and she’s got some renewed vigour from somewhere, and somehow gets back to Nicola in the closing stages, giving all she has to the lovely blonde, but McLean still stands, and nods her respect at the bell.

Round 5

These two tall girls are still fighting at a really fast pace, with Karen again landing some nice, crsip punches in Nicola’s features, and the blonde pleasing the fans with her stunning punches. Karen’s looking the better fighter in this round, here, but she gets caught occasionally by hard punches from Nicola, and her face is really starting to look shabby by the end of the round, nose dribbling a little blood as Nicola scores big and Karen scores a lot – it’s an even round for the judges, but Karen looks like she’s taken a beating right now.

Round 6

Karen starts the round really quickly, and she slams Nicola backwards with a barrage of punches, and pushes McLean to the ropes, where she works on her body pretty hard, making the model grunt and squeak as her accurate punches thud into that ribcage, then she stands her up and lands a beaut of a left to her mouth, which splits her lips and almost knocks her down. Nicola resorts to clinching, as she tries to avoid the punishment, but she’s getting outworked and trapped in this round. Finally, as the bell nears, Nicola manages to get out of trouble and pause Karen’s assault, and the glamourgirl dances away to end the round.

Round 7

Karen’s being a little less active in the first minute, than she was before, but Nicola’s not offering much either right now, and just around halfway through the round Karen works Nicola to those ropes again , and catches Nicola with a left to the cheek, and this helps her to keep up the pressure as the round wears on. Once again, there’s a high volume of punching coming from Karen, but maybe she hasn’t got enough oomph in her shots to worry Nicola but she is leading this fight now, even if she can’t seriously look like flooring her opponent.

Round 8

Gillan’s beginning to wear down now, her face really looking badly knocked about, and she put a lot of effort into round 7, so that now her punches are less precise, and she’s very much less mobile, and becoming more and more exposed to Nicola’s huge punches. Nicola’s just waiting for Karen to open up, and then she punishes her bigtime, setting the Scot up and laying into her as she nails her to the ropes, gives her a solid left hand to eat and Karen is down again, and this time she struggles to get on her feet, nodding that she’s OK at 8, though. Gillan refuses to stay down, and refuses to give up, but her heart doesn’t give the round back to her, and she’s taken a bad beating in the eighth, her face badly bruised up.

Round 9

McLean’s now looking much more confident, and she build steady pressure on Gillan, pushing her to the ropes and really working at her tummy and face there, giving the taller girl no respite as she hammers away, looking to finish her off, but she’s pretty tired herself. There’s even a brighter spell midway through the round when she turns Nicola and gives her a crisp two or three shot salvo, but then she takes a rocking left hook to her cheek, and she gets absolutely pounded against the ropes, somehow staying upright, and there’s blood smattered all over Karen’s face at the end of a huge round for McLean, who now has a good lead in this match.

Round 10

Both girls are tired – Karen tires to go for the big punch, knowing that’s the only chance she has of snatching this, but she just can’t connect strongly enough. McLean’s cocky now, strutting, taking her time and not in a hurry. Nicola lands some good punches but not as many as before, and she’s content to keep Gillan away, not risking a silly mistake, hurts the Scot again late on with a little spanking of face punches, not big, more like a lesson to the redhead – the round goes easily to McLean and surely so will the decision.

Nicola McLean outpointed Karen Gillan – it’s unanimous, but the match was closer than the self confident model expected, and she will need to find a little more in her armoury than a big punch if she’s to make real progress in the welterweight division.
