BEFORE: Pushing and pouting in contentious pre-fight sessions - both girls looking to impose will in an important positional fight. "Everyone knows I'm looking to take lightweight turf," Aly acknowledges in prefight, "and I'll be taking it from girls like Odette. She's a great offensive fighter, but I'm the whole package. I'm confident that once I've addressed her body and proven my quickness credentials, Odette won't be a problem." Yustman scowling throughout - nothing as irritating as a Jenny-come-lately competing for the same space in the sandbox. "Obviously Michalka's got a huge learning curve in front of her," Odette glares at podium. "She's welcome to try for my ribs - most girls do. And when they do? I clip their chins. Aly's a jumped-up wannabe and I'm not having her. At all. Putting a curly-headed blonde girl to sleep in this one fellahs - mark it!" Blue/white horizontal striped bikini for Odette; white gloves; long black ponytail. Aly in purple bikini; black gloves; golden ringlets.

During R1: Aly being cute - slide stepping away while dragging her lead (left) foot; giving slick little shoulder-rolls as Odette tries to find her with jabs; duck-and-pivoting counter-clockwise, turning Odette's left flank. Yustman boxing orthodox behind the jab - she can't locate agile blonde at all. Michalka content to potshot - lifting a slappy hook off her hip to clout Odette's jaw; dipping in and down to whip wide right hands into Odette's sleek ribcage as promised. Succulent shutout Aly M: she lifts eyebrows/licks her lips at a fuming Odette after bell.

R2: Same again: Aly at play - showing her cat-like agility; touching Odette with either hand; bobbing and pivoting and sliding-stepping around. Yustman frustrated, frequently baited into awkward forward rushes behind pawing lefts and rights...Michalka weaving the work, pivoting low, scoring in receipt from angles. Bell: Aly tossing golden curls off her shoulders with her chin up, blazing with the confidence one would normally associate with Greek goddesses.

R3: Odette stops pressing, starts fighting tall. Still orthodox, she features the left jab, slide-stepping back to create little gaps, inviting Aly in. Michalka taking the bait, pouncing in with wide, whippy right hands to flank: Odette gets the timing down midway through, driving righty-to-chin, pre-empting Aly midring. BLONDE GIRL HURT! Michalka doing a queasy little whipsaw on the spot: Odette shifts to forward aspect - weight on left left/right heel up off canvas - RIP-snatching that left uppercut off blonde abs. Good licking stikes have Aly in a bad way...she grimaces in retreat, Odette loping her down. Rest of the way is Aly running/ducking along the perimeter; Odette stalking, strafing long rights and lefts from range.

R4: Michalka re-asserts. She's up on that left foot - pinging out pesky backhand left jabs, forcing Odette into wary earmuff. Cue Aly's slinging bolo-right to Odette's left armpit/lats area - meaty, spanking shots landing succulent, getting Odette to cringe. Aly dancing to her left - stopping long enough to pop - then circling again...blonde girl's legs dictate to brunette as Odette covers up, turns clockwise, takes touches through 4.

R5: Aly being frisky again - backhanding jabs off her left foot; Odette negotiating-with, batting her right palm against Aly's jab while reaching that long left out into blonde mouth. Spirited turning battle midring - clockwise rotation around the busy left hands. Midway through - Odette slings a vicious right over the top - grazing Aly's chin, wobbling her knees; follow up right lands like a brick, putting blonde girl wobbly-butt. Aly stricken, issuing fight's first clinch: ref pushes 'em apart and Odette takes over. Tall, scowling brunette walking badly shaken blonde down all around the ring...Odette leaning into lithe right hands/cleaning up snap-snatching left uppercuts underneath, bouncing mitt off body-meat to bell.

R6: Aly goes back to bait-and-switch tactics - slide-stepping back to lure Odette forward, making her reach...then Michalka deploys that whip-slappy left hook off her hip, clapping Odette to chin! Dangling left hand of Aly's a real menace - catching Odette again and again as Yustman leans in off her jab. Michalka with cutie-pie left-shoulder rolls - she'll just dip out of range of Odette's questing left; mince counter-clockwise, and walk Odette into trouble time and again. Bell: classy shutout has Aly feeling frisky - she stands hands on hips, nodding her head at audience/judges with big grin...Odette FUMING at the show of golden arrogance.

R7: Odette turns southpaw, obviously catching Michalka off guard. Right jabs chop through to Aly's face; low-slung, limber lefts whack up into tummy; looping right hooks over the top graze temple; re-set right jabs keep Aly from countering. Odette stalking Aly Nate-Diaz style - just reaching out and knocking at Michalka, tapping and cuffing at her, then slinging healthy lefts or right hooks when Michalka's ropebound. Round ends with Michalka upright against ropes, looking confused: Odette smites jug via chopping right, then pokes in that straight left hand clean to Aly's teeth, knocking her head back at bell.

R8: Aly adjusts - using a series of pinpoint, lead right hands of the shoulder to drill at Odette's chin/chest...brunette flustered as blonde girl decodes the southpaw stance. Midway through, Yustman pawing lefts and rights as she lopes forward - lured in by Michalka's bobbing-retreats...Aly eventually twists torso-right into one of those licking hooks off the hip and DOWN GOES ODETTE! Yustman dropped in a gangly heap all a-quiver; Aly grinning, does a mincing shoulder-shimmy en route to neutral corner! Odette sputtering with rage at the sight of cocky blonde dance step - Yustman rickety off the mat, but pulling herself together for 8. ON COMES ALY! Michalka wading in all game-face: it's blonde on brunette at ropes, dishing licks. Aly supple, succulent on her girl: feet widespread - pushing with one hand then twisting to deploy the other with slinging fury. Odette horribly beaten upside the head/in her body...lean brunette ragged at ropes, trying to keep gloves up as she ships a beatdown. Bell: Michalka's back all slick and glistening with sweat of her labour...she pushes up off Odette all "i'm big", forcing glaring eye-contact as Yustman's blinking in stupor.

R9: Yustman in southpaw - stitching in long right/left combos; back with the rangy right hook; slinging up into gut via bolo left uppercut. Michalka peppered, wading forward...she reaches an awkward right, missing outside Odette's rolling right shoulder; Yustman uncoils the snapping counter-left uppercut and BLONDE GIRL DOWN! Glorious Zab Judah counter uppercut picks Aly up onto her toes, then dashes her to hands-and-haunches...she's a sputtering wreck as seething Odette struts past. Wobbly-butt 8 for Aly...she staggers away to her left along perimeter, Odette in stalking pursuit. Odette reaching in straight-left leads, then trying to finish Aly via sneaky follow-on right hooks...Michalka desperately slipping and rolling in retreat, deploys that dangling left hook off the hip and DOWN GOES YUSTMAN! Odette walking in, gets caught just inside her own right hook - she stumbles forward to hands-and-knees as Aly reels into ropes. Aly's shabby - Odette's hurt...Yustman beats the count all glassy eyes, parted lips, rickety legs through 9.

R10: Aly flick-flick-flicking that pesky backhand left jab again - weight up on that lead (left) leg as she douses Odette in leather. Yustman hurt, weary...she covers up earmuff, leaning into the storm...Michalka straps slinging right hand bolo-punches into the offered left armpit/lat region. Odette gasping, hurt in her body, legs trembling...she stumbles into ropes, keeping her guard together as Aly steps-to. It's blonde girl taking brunette out back the woodshed time: Odette frazzled, exhausted, hands weak at temples...Aly just pushing on her, then strapping her thick, slinging punches head and body both. Down the stretch, left uppercut parts Odette's mitts, straightening her up; right smashes off her face, stunning her; extra left hook clips her chin...Odette's hands drop as she goes out on her feet, but somehow stays upright. Aly exhausted, bodies up to take a breather - probably saves Odette from going down as limp brunette accepts clinch all deadweight in blonde embrace. Aly pushing Odette into ropes, mauling her...looks like blonde's about to start work out of the wrap when bell sounds. Comes back UD10, Aly Michalka.

After: Michalka cuffed and puffy, but wearily upbeat in postfight. "She's very wiry and tricky," Aly says of Odette, "hard to read. I thought I was in control almost all the time, but she had these moments when she'd hurt me, and I'd wonder what the hell was happening! But I'm stronger, I'm the better woman, and I just wouldn't allow any uprisings tonight!"
