“Empire Boxing has really begun to push my career,” Maria says in prefight, “and I want to show them how right they are by beating Laura. Of course, I haven’t forgotten she beat me in a beach fight, but this time it will be different. I’m going to take it to her and not stop until she’s toast!” Laura Vandervoort reportedly already irked by taunting from supporters of Odette Yustman snaps irritably: “I kicked her butt back in Hawaii and I’m going to do it again. I’m in a bad mood for this fight and Maria’s going to learn that the hard way!”

Fight night finds Laura in a mouth watering sky blue bikini with matching boots and gloves. Maria in sexy black bikini with white boots and gloves. Laura’s long blonde hair is piled up elegantly on top of her head. Maria is long brunette hair has been pulled back in a single ponytail. The eager Maria smiling and bouncing with excitement. Laura cool and disdainful of Empire fighter’s antics.

R1: Bell rings and Maria comes ROARING out of her corner to belabor Laura with furious punching at the very outset of the fight. Laura clearly taken by surprise gets her head swiveled left and right, then knocked straight back. When the Foxfire blonde gets her guard up to protect her head, Maria simply shifts her attack to the body pounding punches into Vandervoort tummy until Laura is leaning forward. Then she goes back after Laura’s chin trying to get in under Vandervoort’s guard. Laura tries to get her jab going to make Menounos pay for her aggression, but Maria simply takes the punching trying to get back in. In the second minute, Menounos makes a sudden move to the left and draws Laura off balance, Menounos swings her powerful right in over Laura’s gloves to SMACK the blonde’s nose. Laura stumbles back, crimson trickling from both nostrils, and Maria closes back in. Only Vandervoort’s instincts keep her from total disaster as she blocks Maria’s attempts at finishing and finally just covers up hands-in-gloves to survive to the end of the round. Laura stumbles back to her corner, face lumped up, nose still bleeding and a dazed look in her eyes. Maria has a big smile on her face as she struts back to her own corner.

R2: Frantic work in the Foxfire corner tries to repair the damage done to Laura V and she comes out looking to cool the Empire brunette down. Maria comes roaring out again and demonstrates the first round was no fluke. Laura finds herself hit hard to the body as she tries to protect her head. Laura trying to jab back, but can’t seem to find the mobile Maria as she bounces around until she darts in with a fresh attack. Second minute, Maria finally gets the chance to re-visit Vandervoort’s face knocking it back with some rapid jabs. However Laura finally gets her counterpunching going in the third minute ramming heavy shots into the Menounos tummy and rack line. Laura finally gets some respect as Maria is finally forced back, but Menounos wins the points to take the round.

R3: Laura finds herself again under aggressive attack by Maria. Menounos ups her punch rate to almost super-aggressive level hitting Laura who looks increasingly forlorn under the leather storm. Laura is driven back, when she tries to move out of range, Maria just walks her down. The effects of all the punches is clearly showing now on Vandervoort who grows sluggish in her responses, which only gets her knocked up more to the head and body. Foxfire fans aghast: their girl is getting her ass kicked. Maria seems to working for points as round ends rather than a KO and she certainly gets them as she wins another round.

R4: Another round, another Laura Vandervoort ass kicking from Maria Menounos! Laura’s head bouncing around so much that her top knot has come undone causing sweaty blonde tresses to drop across her lumped up face. Maria now driving Laura to the ropes, but at this point, Vandervoort shows her heart. She grits her teeth and repeatedly fights her way off the ropes. Maria doesn’t seem at all discouraged by this maintaining the smiling enthusiasm at the end of the round as the bruised and bleeding blonde staggers back to her stool.

R5: Maria comes out seemingly determined to finish Laura off in this round. She uses that sweeping right to bounce off Vandervoort’s jaw and skull, then jabs her up the middle to pancake Laura’s puppies. Laura staggered early, but again shows heart as she refuses to punk and let the Empire girl put her down. Instead, Laura goes back to jabbing hard, delivering several stinging shots to Maria’s face finally giving Menounos bruised cheekbones and a swelling lip, but Maria still in charge and handling Laura for a fifth straight round.

R6: Foxfire trainer Virginia Madsen seen talking sternly to Laura during the break asking sarcastically if she wants to just throw in the towel now? Laura reacts with anger and Madsen tells her: “Then get out there and start fighting that girl!” Laura fired up and surprises Menounos with a solid straight right to the mouth and follow up left off the chin. Laura then starts moving herself making herself less of target and scoring with good counterpunching even as blocks much of Maria’s incoming. However the Empire girl refuses to panic, she hangs in close and gradually forces Laura into slugging it out with her. Maria taking punishment, but looks quite comfortable punching-with Vandervoort whose face is twisted with the effort to keep going. Maria again gets the edge on points and leaves Laura defiant, but wrecked.

R7: Laura Vandervoort continues to fight back against her Empire tormentress. They soon get in so close during this round that they are fighting forehead to forehead, just slamming away at each other’s bodies with sweat spraying hooks. However Maria Menounos continues to outwork her blonde and gain yet another round. As round ends, fans and haters of Maria are twitting about a possible 10-0 rout if Maria can keep up this punching productivity.

R8: Laura grabs another opening minute with a sharp, sticky jab into Maria’s body and then the head, but Maria has her hook going and gradually forces Laura into a more stand-and-deliver posture as they bang toe-to-toe. Maria able to win the points from this offensive and gets yet another round.

R9: Laura Vandervoort is a wreck. No other word for it. Her cheeks, chin, nose and mouth all swollen, banged up and/or bleeding, her hair is a tangled mess hanging down over her face and she moves her bruised body with obvious pain.Still the proud blonde refuses to quit. Her eyes burning with weary defiance, she trudges out once again, clearly hoping to force Maria to go the distance. No such luck tonight. Maria, though marked up a bit, still looks eager to get back into action and charges in to bang away at Laura. Vandervoort forced to ropes, no longer seems to have the resources to fight her way clear this time, and simply has to endure a methodical battering. Finally Maria rams in uppercuts to the chin to force Laura out of her crouch and then she unleashes a haymaker lefts and rights to Vandervoort’s head. Laura hung up on the ropes, arms droop to her sides helpless, head bouncing around alamringly--AND FINALLY THE REF JUMPS IN! Referee throws himself between the fighters as Laura sags into his arms. Maria shrieks with joy and runs around the ring arms raised in victory over head. WINNER: TKO9 MARIA MENOUNOS!

After: Maria stands impatiently as her gloves are removed and Laura Vandervoort revived on her stool. Finally, Maria sees her chance and rushes over to hoist the Foxfire blonde to her feet in her own corner. Laura glassy-eyed, mumbles a protest, but she is spun around to face the crowd and then has her arms draped around the turnbuckle ropes. Next the victorious Maria climbs the ring ropes so she can pose standing over the beaten Laura who looks out in stunned misery at the crowd cheering her victress. Maria then grabs the thick handful of sweaty blonde blocks with her left hand while raising her right arm to point skyward in the classic “I’m #1 gesture!” Cameras get some great shots of the pair: Maria her face bright with triumph, Laura eyes sick with misery and her face twisted with the agonizing reality that such a mortifying thing is now happening to her.
Maria finally jumps down and turns Laura around so that her back is to the turnbuckle. She then gives Laura a little shove so that her back hits the corner post and Vandervoort slides slowly down into a slumping seated position, her chin on her collarbone, looking utterly crushed. Maria poses standing over her fallen foe, hands on hips and then (seeing an angry Rachel Nichols coming at her from the Foxfire seating section) retreats to her own corner with a laugh. Meanwhile, Rachel helps Laura to her feet and leads the hollow-eyed, shellshocked blonde from the ring to the sanctuary of the Foxfire dressing rooms.
Career highlight win for Maria Menousnos as the Empire boxer dominates every round before forcing the stoppage. Stunning defeat for Foxfire’s lovely blonde Laura Vandervoort who suffers one of the worst losses of her career. Fans now eager to see what happens next for both fighters: Will Maria go on to more wins? Will Laura come back from this disaster? Stay tuned
