Before: Rematch of a KO9 on 07/17/11, followed by a subsequent loss in a wrestling bout – can blonde stunner Becky retaliate? Romijn thinks she can. ‘Welterweight is a WIDE, wide open division. There’s this media mis-conception that we’re a two-woman division, made up of Regan and Righetti. That’s just wrong. And results show that. Who’s champion again? It is Theron who outclasses Regan by miles. Patton showed us there is absolutely nothing to fear in Amanda Righetti. I think this last PPV has shifted perspectives at the weight for a long time to come. I like to think it could be a revolution. Rigs is essentially a lightweight with some padding– she’s had her fun, but in the long run, she probably ain’t suited to the special environment welterweight offers. Especially if she can’t handle unexperienced lightweights. I mean, who the hell is Paula Patton? Two things count at the weight that Rigs ain’t having. First, experience, as in: REAL veteran experience. Second, punching power, as in WTF-did-just-hit-me/boom-you’re-out-power. I am a real welterweight. I knock girls out, Amanda’s fighting fights like a who-can-stay-longer-on-the-treadmill contests. Bullshit, man.’ Righetti quietly amused by Rebecca talking herself into something of a rage, slyly smiling when she goes on to respond, ‘Yep, that’s a fascinating analysis by Becky. She’s obviously wrong, and she knows it, but if this pre-fight babbling helps her overcome her fears, so be it. Makes the subsequent loss all the more painful, if you ask me, right?

Fight: R1: Fast start Amanda, she’s atop Becky quickly with healthy aggression, using her jab to get Becks out of her stance, driving her backwards to gain the early momentum - that’s an obvious adjustment from the Patton fight. Amanda’s backing Becky up, continues to keep her off stance – big blonde completely ineffective as a result. Romijn’s trying to adjust, but so far she’s unable to use height/reach to good effect. Strong poke from Amanda not necessarily hurting Becky, but keeping her in uneasy mode, she’s mainly attempting to keep Amanda off, but getting stalked to ropes as a result. Like that bell to bell – clean control by Righetti, very precise with Becks not yet in the fight.

R2: More Righetti on Romijn early, in increasingly violent fashion: tight, precise and steady jab rhythm bashing at big blonde. Romijn clearly a little frustrated, yet unhurt, but not getting a lot of return punches in – redhead in brick-thick stance, drumming Beck’s body with her left, controlling her. Midway point: Amanda just continuing to press a wobbly Becky into the ropes, when Becky answers! Jab rocks blonde, but she’s unleashing a thick right hand in return that picks Amanda up stiff on chin and has her tumbling backwards. Smile, Becks – immediately following up with more clouting leather. Righetti deep in defense, hovered near ropes in earmuff, as Romijn’s cleaning up in slamming fashion.

R3: Becky now confident: moving in her forward aspect stance, extending on slamming punches, driving rights in to chin to give Amanda constant level of hurt. Good position midring, Rebecca – tall and stubborn: nothing fancy - one-two punching, followed by strapping left hooks against waistline if it's there to find. Amanda still hurt to the body and feeling grumpy - attempts to close distance and go to blonde body are simply not working. Righetti’s a bit sluggish in her movements as the minutes go by – Becky so very crisp on right-hand delivery tonight! Nice stare-down attempt from Romijn at bell, clearly enjoying that redhead’s starting to move a little drowsy.

R4: Amanda grows a bit more combative, trying to torso-weave her way closer, clearly shaking off the drowsiness, but it’s still blonde Becky in charge! Romijn in strong pursuit of Righetti in firm position, midring – swatting thick rights to face, clocking redhead chin. Righetti gets OWNED in the last minute – Becky with big free-swinging power, hurting Rigs with sweet combos of left hooks/shoveling rights to gut/waist. Redhead still firm on strong legs, but taking a barrage of punches: great legwork/ring mastership by veteran Becks here, pursuing Righetti clock-wise, using her height and reach to GREAT effect – stunning series of punches to redhead who hasn’t managed distance so well as of now. A classy ‘n well-executed veteran fourth round – Romijn in charge!

R5: Close combat mid-ring as Righetti finds her legs, pounds back violently – a vicious big woman hammer-and-tongs ensues to crowd delight. Becks taken a bit out of her favorite stance, losing grip on ring generalship, as Amanda’s strong jabs start to ring her up nicely. Redhead now denting blonde waist flesh, clearly going for body destruction here – Romijn groaning in response, starting to get cornered mid-round, desperately trying to regain momentum with free-swinging haymakers deep from ropes. Redhead with good head movement, weaving, quick-jabbing her way closer, crowding Romijn’s body and amping up the pace – punches show effect on blonde! Hard jabs set the scene – Rebecca in tight earmuff, just banging back with left straights out of defensive position occasionally – followed by punishing rights to chin that test Becky’s legs! Romijn finding it difficult to counter, put wobbly-butt, caught tight near ropes, sponging up leather as Righetti controls last minute, takes a close heated round on late aggression/effective punching.

R6: Bell: Romijn on a mission! Becky ignores last round momentum, comes out grimly determined, showing steely, concentrated face, hammering out jabs in machine-like succession….and she’s kicking ass! Righetti’s in wild retreat early, caught by surprise, getting bashed on her chin, reacting later and later. Terrible beating Becky to Amanda! Becky carefully setting up right hands – preparing with long-reach jabs softening up Amanda’s body, punishing her to waist – drives them in with furor to Righetti’s head. Becky’s pushing Rigs in the shoulders, right cross to chin – blast almost toppling Righetti over. Weak, wobbly knees: redhead tottering backward in pain, as Becky’s ramming in the right hand uppercut, clipping redhead face brutally. Righetti’s head swiveled to side, eyes closed in shock and pain – she’s getting abused here! Righetti hurt, but remains standing and defending desperately on curvy, strong-legged power, trying to counter off ropes with one-shot punches, but Becky’s battering through the defense. Big, big round Becky Romijn – has Righetti staggering to corner after bell.

R7: Becky coming out with aggressive jabs, but it looks like she took her best shot last round, as tempo obviously slows down – allowing Righetti to form precise defense, build up legs, renegotiate terms of fight. Romijn a little gassed from last round power attacks: tiredly marching forward, but reactions coming a little late: Becks unable to gain any momentum, or continue her rope-side siege. Pitched battle mid-ring sees Amanda slowly take over – forcing blonde into retreat with stunning jabs that have more power/precision than Becky can throw with her own. Romijn’s height no longer shielding her – redhead very concentrated, drawing closer to body. Beck’s defenses weaker mid-round – Amanda able to put her rope-side, batter her! Classic processing of blonde meat on ropes: crippling rights to chin see stunned Becky go down, pitching forward onto belly close to bell – groggy blonde gives a 10-8 to Righetti.

R8: Becky opens with long, slamming jabs to face, using height/legs in classy circling around Amanda – very precise and methodic display by Romijn here. She’s obviously trying to keep redhead off long-term, succeeds in holding her at bay for about a minute, while Righetti’s walking into pretty hurtful punches to her face, yet still wants to stubbornly go after taller blonde, despite stumbling forward on increasingly rugged legs. But Beck’s getting a little tired then - mid-round-ish - her jabs lose thickness, power and tempo: Righetti’s patience wears off. Romijn unable to keep her brilliant aggressive-defense work in play, suffers when redhead’s jabs out-punch her. Righetti uses broad shoulders to crowd tall Rebecca, working her into ropes with body punches, as frustrated/tiring Romijn can’t prevent getting processed. Rest of round just calm and systematic by Rigs – she has Becky at ropes, targeting body/gut while keeping her pinned. Shabby look, Romijn – seeming weary, while Righetti just keeps on punching along, on a destroy-blonde mission.

R9: Becky mouthbreathing, really gassed at this point - Amanda up-tempos in response to Becky’s plight, grinding down blonde resistance all over the ring. Romijn really at the end of her wits – height no longer usable to her advantage, jabs feeble, weaker, increased body-targeted punching taking its severe toll on her – just occasionally throwing counter attempts off ropes. Tight guard defense, Becky as Righetti just punches her blonde into compliance, compliance meaning: redhead in command. Poor blonde getting moved over like a ramshackle old hut by a bulldozer, on strong legs standing thick & stubborn, but useless, as she’s wilting forward more and more. Righetti one-twos Becky’s face, then switches to sweet crippling mid-body hooks, as Rebecca groans in pain. Bit of tragic pride from Becky, as she’s still able to do some proper defending to prevent the worst, but she’s obviously getting destroyed here, all round long.

R10: Righetti going for the shutout: she's atop Becky at the ropes easy and early, battering her in systematic fashion. Becks just continues to get stacked up and worked over – she’s still too strong and proud to go out, but helpless in any offense. Big leggy blonde frustrated, trying to just march out of ropes into Amanda’s body, but redhead stronger at this point, stays cool and calm to extract heat out of Romijn’s late attempts with strong hooks to gut and wreckful jabs into puffy face – Romijn gives up in response, falls back into ropes with sad eyes, can’t do anything about getting controlled for rest of round. Righetti not turning reckless late, stays in controlled and effective mastery of Rebecca, undeterred until the bell. Last few rounds sealed the deal – Becks got very close mid-fight, but loses as Amanda Righetti takes the UD10!

After: Rebecca Romijn heartbroken, on the verge of tears – having shown great pride and stamina in refusing to cede Righetti a knockout, she’s still left with a bitter, hurtful loss. Amanda praising opponent just a bit – “Becky’s a good fighter…” before continuing with a smirk, “…but she’s just not the kind of division elite fighter she thinks she is!” Redhead clearly relieved to prove she’s in good shape after a catastrophic Patton night. Romijn earning respect in presenting herself as a quality welterweight with plenty of power in her hands: Becks uses good competitiveness in parts of this fight to demand more action for herself. “You people need to stop talking about Cassidy Freeman, Daniela Ruah or Leelee Sobieski being the girls you need for reviving this division. A division with Rebecca Romijn needs no friggin’ revival, folks!”
