Denise van Outen returns to the Wembley Arena few weeks after she was embarassingly knocked out by Pippa Middleton and very determined to make amends for that loss. Van Outen has gone down to bantam division seeking a change of fotunes after losing four of her five bouts in the lightweight class. Her tonight's rival is Downunder Boxing's Natalie Bassingthwaighte who also looks for a turn-around after suffering a very bad loss to Melanie Brown back in March.

Both women effectively match each other in age, size and even the physical looks hence the odds are incredibly tight before the opening bell. As they make their way onto the ring, there's little sympathy visible from both corners, steely eyes piercing the opponent's flesh, nobody is gonna play around here tonight! The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Quick start from van Outen who throws few jabs to the ribcage, menaces around the Aussie's breasts and pushes her back. NatBass responds with few wild swing around the head, but she can't place them well and gets laced in the jugs one more time before van Outen catches her in the cheek with a precise left hook! Very impressive start from the English girl and the Aussie has to leap back quickly, avoiding more shots from her blonde foe. Van Outen keeps the pressure with high-tempo jabbing, has Bassingthwaighte circling around the ropes just unable to make something happen on her own. But the Aussie is experienced enough and settles for pure defence early, hopes to wear van Outen out later. Denise looks to close in the final minute, but only grazes the hapless Bassingthwaighte and fails to really hurt her before the bell.

Round 2:
Van Outen charges again and laces Bassingthwaighte in the ribs before sending a huge uppercut to the her chin! That's stopped though and NatBass counters, flicks a low jabbing sequence to the ribs, catches Denise in the jugs and van Outen forces a clinch rather than punches back. Both women struggle in the middle of the ring with van Outen managing to shove her opponent away just before the ref jumps in. Left hook from van Outen misses and Natalie laces her in the nose with a half-uppercut instead! Gloves wide apart from Denise in that moment, easy prey for the experienced Aussie. Bassingthwaighte pours in with more jabs to the head and sways van Outen on her knees!! Ferocious blows from both flanks rock van Outen's head repeatedly before she can cover but NatBass is having none of it, really throwing some leather around! Van Outen's lightweight past helps her to survive, she keeps that core strenght within her and stands her ground finally forcing the Aussie to drop her aggressive approach and seek another clinch. Both women tangle up in the ropes and the bell separates them few moments later. Solid round for NatBass who draws level on the scorecards.

Round 3:
Both women stare at each other during the interval and Bassingthwaighte makes the opening charge in the third, squares up to van Outen and whacks her in the face with left/right combo! Denise responds with low jabs to the ribcage and they trade punches in the middle of the ring with little defence to speak of! Couple of left jabs snap van Outen's head back, but she cross-hooks Natalie's breasts and grazes her ear with a wayward uppercut that almost made it through! Bassingthwaighte closes the distance, leans on her English foe, sends series of low jabs to the ribs! Denise moans, tries to force a clinch, but Bassingthwaighte spikes her in the jaw with a bug uppercut! Van Outen winces louder and she's too slow to jump back before the Aussie nails her in the temple with a massive right hook! DOWN GOES VAN OUTEN flat on her back!!! Big punch from Bassingthwaighte sends her tumbling down on the canvas, but she's up at six spitting venom with her eyes! NatBass flashes a smile and shakes her head teasingly "You're just not good enough van Outen!", she yells at the English blonde and the local girl is absolutely livid; looks for immediate punishment. Ain't gonna happen though cause the Aussie blocks her charge and smashes across the jugs, literally bending van Outen down in half. Left uppercut rocks Denise's head and she wraps her arms around NatBass' waits finally catching a break. Ref rushes in to separate the women but Bassingthwaighte loses her temper, whacks van Outen in the kidneys seconds before the bell which is met with loud jeering in the crowd! Man in charge lectures the Aussie blonde as the time of the round expires, but Denise doesn't mind as she catches a hard-earned respite in her corner.

Round 4:
Bassingthwaighte looks to pounce after that great previous round and closes the distance again, van Outen shows little signs of fatigue and blocks couple of jabs to the midsection before sending a cross-hook across the Aussie's face! NatBass was surprised by that one and her head snaps back as she got laced clean in the nose! Van Outen with low jabs to the ribcage, forces her back and signs off with a stiff jab on the mouth. More harrassing from the English blonde as she pummels Bassingthwaighte's stomach and pushes her to the ropes. NatBass with a completely dire opening minute, seemingly she thought van Outen was in much worse shape but at least she tames her aggression with a clinch as Denise misses a crucial jab to the mouth and falls straight into the Aussie's arms. Ref shoves the women away and NatBass fires a couple of jabs to the stomach, van Outen cracks her in the temple with a left hook and wrenches her guts with a right hook. Bassingthwaighte closes her eyes and falls to the ropes! Impressive combo from Denise left the Aussie with breathing problems and van Outen pours in with hooks to the head. Bassingthwaighte bends forward and covers up, but gets whacked in the head anyway. Crowd begins to cheer Denise who yells with every shot and keeps the Aussie pinned to the ropes! Bassingthwaighte's gloves are hard to split though and Denise works low, laces the Aussie in the ribcage which raises the moaning level, NatBass in deep trouble all of the sudden, just allows the English blonde to punch her senseless in the corner! Crowd expects a knockdown any second now.... but there's the bell right in the middle of van Outen's furious display! Huge let-off for the Aussie whose face is extremely reddened as she walks back to her corner and she still looks stunned by that shot to the guts which took the breath out of her completely.

Round 5:
Van Outen notices her rival's problems and moves in quickly, NatBass still struggles with her breath, breasts are pumping up and down with visible difficulty but Denise shows little sympathy as she whacks the aching foe in the cheek all the way round the gloves. Bassingthwaighte looks stunned, allows another jab to pierce her stomach and van Outen smells blood! She cracks an uppercut from the left, throws another right to the ribs and NatBass' head snaps back before she bends to the side! Left hook cleans her temple and Aussie loses her footing, right jab to the jugs but Natalie was already on her way down by the time it landed! BASSINGTHWAIGHTE CRASHES ON HER SIDE and winces loudly upon meeting the canvas!!! Van Outen gloats over the fallen blonde but quickly jumps to her corner and looks on as Natalie tries to get up. She pushes herself on one arm at five and slowly scrambles back upright at nine, just beating the count! Her face is swollen and the eyes look misty! Ref has some doubts but the crowd yells "We want more! We want more!". She's allowed back into this but van Outen instead of being furious, approaches her with a broad smile on her face. Bassingthwaighte looks stranded in middle of the ring, unable to show anything she's more than a wounded prey at Denise'e mercy. Quick jabs to the chest result in more groans from the Aussie and van Outen punches at will to the head and body, cuts throught NatBass' mitts and snaps her head back. Several blows to the head meet no resistance and Denise needs only few seconds to back the hapless Bassingthwaighte against the ropes where she continues to lay more leather! Loud moans from NatBass, her knees buckle and she's only defending herself in the corner, another left breaks her gloves though and tears her cheek badly. Van Outen with a big right to the temple, Bassingthwaighte's just a battered mess out there now... and the REF STEPS IN; he drags Denise away and embraces the out-of-sorts Aussie blonde before escorting her back to her stool... TKO R5 Denise van Outen!!!

Post-fight:
Denise's as cool as if she just completed a daily routine at the gym. Broad smile on display and fancy poses for the cameras as the journalists pour in ringside. "I always knew there's gonna be only one winner tonight and that was me, the washed-up BBU reporter whom everybody scratched months ago. Perhaps NatBass scratched me as well and thought I'm gonna look good on her resume, but look at her face, she's the one nursing the scratches and bruises not me! I admire he courage, but I smashed her guts and finished the job like a true veteran. Her tummy was jobber-like soft and I took advantage of that! "

Meanwhile Natalie's unable to respond to her foe's bragging as she's completely beside herself on her stool. All pieces seemingly fit the puzzle especially after van Outen's painful loss to Middleton but that gutwrencher half-way through the fourth took the wind off the Aussie's sails and she never recovered. Denise's lightweight past worked against Bassingthwaighte in the end as the core strenght behind the shots definitely favored the English blonde who despite getting floored in the third, was much more punch-resistant than NatBass and finally enforced her presence in the fifth much to the crowd's delight.
