BEFORE:

"Actually," says a smiling Cote. "I'm kind of surprised everyone's making such a big deal out of Daniela. I mean, we sparred several times during crossovers, and I always handled her without a problem. And, all of a sudden, she's got a big contract and is getting a push? Well, after I handle her tonight, maybe I'LL get a big contract, too."

"I know I hit Cote a couple of pretty good shots when we sparred," says Daniela, shaking her head. "But I didn't think I hit her hard enough to affect her memory. But if she thinks SHE handled ME when we were in the ring, I must have scrambled a brain cell or two. And I'm about to scramble a few more."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Good Times' by Brazilian Girls, and here comes a Chilean girl, Cote de Pablo..."

Tess: "She's the highest-rated Chilean-born fighter in the FCBA! Sorry, Smackey. Couldn't resist..."

McCarthy: "What are you BABBLING about, Walmart?"

Tess: "Don't you READ the Boxing World Online rankings?"

McCarthy: "I don't bother with that rag! They had me 21st! Me! Mac The Knife! The Greatest Fighting Playmate Of All Time! The Straw That Stirs The Drink! 21st!"

Tess: "If you don't read it, how do you know you were 21st?"

McCarthy: "I have my SOURCES!"

O'Dell(sighing): "Cote into the ring, helped off with the robe to reveal a nice black bikini..."

Tess: "Jenny, have you seen the latest YouTube montage?"

O'Dell: "I hesitate to ask..."

Tess: "It's just you sighing over and over again behind video of the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, with Louise Goffin's song in the background..."

O'Dell: "Some people have waaaayyyy too much time on their hands. And, speaking of songs, that's 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica, and here comes 'The Portugese Princess', Daniela Ruah, a girl CERTAIN people around here are on record as saying is one of the more promising boxers at Front Street..."

Tess: "Well, Front Street currently has FIVE lights and three welters in the Top 20, so they have a LOT of promising fighters..."

McCarthy: "Oh, stop dancing around it, Walmart! SAY you think she's their best big girl!"

Tess: "I DIDN'T say that, and I WON'T say that..."

McCarthy: "That's the difference between you and me. Mac The Knife is NEVER afraid to voice her opinion!"

O'Dell: "Ruah into the ring. Helped off with the robe by Jewel and Mariska. Wearing that baby blue number that certainly does something for her. Now, Tess is on record as favoring Ruah. What do you think, Mac?"

McCarthy: "I think TORV is the best big girl at Front Street and she'll show it tonight. Decker and Swan are all makeup and ego. Sobieski and Ruah are overrated. And Arterton's a snob with all her 'Royal Academy of Dramatic Art' crap..."

O'Dell: "Let me clarify. What do you think about THIS FIGHT, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Have to favor Ruah. She's bigger and has more experience. I wouldn't be shocked if de Pablo won, but Ruah's the choice."

O'Dell: "Let's see if our ladies are right. There's the bell and Daniela wasting no time going to that left hand. Finding the target with that jab. Using her reach advantage to score and keep Cote out of range..."

Tess: "There's that 'Front Street Jab'. A heavy off-hand punch that most of Wiz's big girls have developed..."

McCarthy: "Stop CALLING it that! It's just a JAB! Lots of girls have one, not just Weirdo's Dancing Hookers! I have one, and I sure as hell don't work for Front Street and never will!"

Tess: "Wiz doesn't NEED you. He already HAS a Mack The Knife!"

McCarthy: "He does NOT have a...SHUT UP, WALMART!"

O'Dell: "I'll bet the folks at home thought they'd NEVER get to tip back those shot glasses! Drink up!"

Tess: "And, for the fans at home, the first round of the third fight is, by far, the record. It's also like DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak. Likely to stand for all time."

O'Dell: "Back in the ring, Ruah aggressively after Cote, working behind that big left. de Pablo showing some movement now, trying to foul Ruah's targeting. Cote getting into position to land and score in spots, but Ruah quickly regaining control with the jab, fitting rights off of it. Landing good, clean stuff at long range..."

McCarthy: "Cote getting controlled by that left hand. Can't get to the spots she wants. Being kept at the range where Ruah wants her."

O'Dell: "And it's going to pay off for Daniela on the cards. There's the bell ending the first, and a good start for Ruah."

Tess: "If she keeps de Pablo on the end of that jab, she's going to have a lot more rounds like that."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Into the second, and, again, Ruah aggressively after de Pablo, working that long left hand, creating space, looking for rights off it. Getting off thick. Scoring with some heavy shots. de Pablo working forward, using head and shoulder movement to renegotiate distance, banging back from close range."

McCarthy: "All about distance, Jenny. Cote can be effective when she closes, but at long range, Ruah's in control."

O'Dell: "And Daniela using that left to create space again. Thumping the right home in follow up. Sometimes to the head, sometimes to the body. de Pablo having to take some leather to get into position. Able to trade effectively when she does."

Tess: "Cote's slick in the pocket, Jenny. Got that shoulder roll going."

O'Dell: "Countering and scoring, but Ruah giving as good as she gets in close and in total command from the outside. That's a recipe for winning a round, and that's precisely what she's done in round two."

McCarthy: "20-18 after two. Ruah off to a bit of an early lead."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third round begins with de Pablo trying to work her way forward and Ruah just STOPPING her with that left. Daniela right on target with the jab."

McCarthy: "You get squared up with a jab like that and that's exactly what it does. Stops you in your tracks."

O'Dell: "Ruah PUMPING the left home, forcing Cote over to the defensive...ROCKS HER WITH A FLURRY! de Pablo wobbled...LEFT HOOK RUAH! de Pablo staggered...AND DOWN SHE GOES!"

McCarthy: "HUGE right hand. This is OVER!"

O'Dell: "de Pablo crumpled to her left side and hasn't moved at all. Ruah to a neutral corner. Cote rolls to her back, eyes open, counting lights."

McCarthy: "Like this...1...36....72...Bebe Rebozo..."

O'Dell: "Referee's count more orderly. Seven. de Pablo tries to sit up, barely gets her shoulders off the mat and flops back down. Nine. Ten! It's over! Your winner by KO3, 'The Portugese Princess', Daniela Ruah!"

McCarthy: "Check the replay on this, Jenny. Watch the left hook send de Pablo staggering to her left. Here comes the right hand. BOOM! Right on the cheek! Head swivels and down goes Cote. Fight over!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I've got Daniela Ruah, our winner, and, Dani, pretty dominating performance tonight..."

Daniela: "You want some, Keebs? You want some of that, Stace? You want to keep running your mouth and posing with your teenage boy body? Call Wiz and that can be you out there taking a canvas nap."

Tess: "So, who's the best lightweight at Front Street?"

Daniela(laughing): "Don't ask ME. I'm a welter!"
