BEFORE:

"Serinda can fight, no question", says Jill. "But, I can fight, too. I may not get as much publicity around here as she does, but I'm every bit as good as she is. And I'm going to prove it."

"Wagner's a nice test for me," says Swan. "She's good. Tough. Athletic. Slick. She's also just the type of girl I have to step over if I'm going to get to the top of this division. It's not personal. She's just in the way."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Foxy Lady' by Jimi Hendrix, and it appears Wiz is giving Pointy and Bazz the honors tonight, because here comes Serinda Swan..."

McCarthy: "Overrated, just like most of the rest of The Weirdo's fighters."

O'Dell: "Serinda into the ring, helped off with the robe by Jewel and Mariska...and the crowd appreciating that red bikini she's wearing..."

McCarthy: "Her BODY is overrated, too..."

Tess: "We need to get you an eye test, Mac. You're nearing 40...you might need GLASSES..."

McCarthy: "I do NOT need glasses, and SHUT UP, WALMART!"

O'Dell: "And..."

McCarthy: "What is THAT noise?"

Tess: "That would be 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King' by Edvard Grieg..."

McCarthy: "Why on EARTH would Wagner be coming to the ring to THAT?"

Tess: "Pointy likes to use classical music for his girls. You might remember that Beth Rohm came to the ring to 'Ride Of The Valkyries' by Richard Wagner..."

McCarthy: "It's pronounced WAG-ner, not VAUG-ner, and his first name is Robert! I LOVED him in 'Hart To Hart'..."

Tess: "You're old enough to REMEMBER him in 'It Takes A Thief'..."

O'Dell: "And, for those who had 'Mac confuses a classical composer with a 60s leading man', mark your square! Meanwhile, JILL Wagner into the ring, helped off with the robe to reveal a nice zebra striped number. Just about ready to go, and Tess is on record as favoring Wagner. What do you think, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Walmart is learning something hanging around with me. This is a fight between two very athletic girls and it should be fun to watch. No question it can go either way, but I'm picking Wagner."

O'Dell: "Let's see if our ladies are right. We're underway and Swan quickly after Wagner, lands a couple of clean shots, backs Jill up, forces a reset. Wagner looking to move and counter. Swan ANOTHER nice flurry! Sent some sweat flying and forced Wagner to cover up!"

McCarthy: "Swan getting right after Wagner here. No feeling out process for Serinda."

O'Dell: "Wagner trying to slow things down with some jabs, but Swan slips one and LIGHTS HER UP! A four-punch flurry and Wagner wobbled!"

McCarthy: "Swan looking to make quick work of this Jenny! All in now looking to turn out the lights!"

O'Dell: "Wagner being buffeted around the ring as Swan gets off with both hands. Left hook! Wagner staggered. Good right hand and Jill stumbles back to the ropes!"

McCarthy: "Referee looking closely. Wagner getting banged around from post to post, just trying to hang on!"

Tess: "You've been in situation's like Jill's, Mac...does time seem to stand still?"

McCarthy: "The round seems to last three weeks instead of three minutes..."

O'Dell: "Swan digging away with Wagner trapped on the ropes. Referee not going to let this continue much longer...BUT THERE'S THE BELL!"

Tess: "None too soon for Wagner..."

McCarthy: "And there's your 10-8 without the knockdown. Great start for Swan!"

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "We're into the second now and Swan again aggressively after Wagner, banging away with that left jab, hooking off of it with the right."

McCarthy: "Jill on the defensive, but she's gotten it together. She's organized again, moving and trying to counter."

O'Dell: "Swan thumping away, probing that defense for holes, finding some and scoring when she does. Wagner snapping some nice returns, moving well, not getting squared up as much as she did in the first round."

McCarthy: "Wagner stabilizing at least. Still getting outpointed, but able to mount some counter attacks."

Tess: "Important for Jill to do that. She's every bit as quick and athletic as Swan, but Serinda is a bigger girl, Mac..."

McCarthy: "She is. Wagner's a small light. She can make bantam if she tries. Swan's a big light. Usually fights within a pound or two of the limit."

O'Dell: "Time running down in the second. Swan still the boss in there. Working her left. Wagner in constant motion countering. There's the bell. And, through two, Swan building a lead."

Tess: "20-17 on my card."

McCarthy: "Mine, too."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "The third of a scheduled ten underway, and again it's Swan right to the offensive."

Tess: "Got to think this is the fight plan Front Street put together. Use that size advantage, take the fight to Wagner, throw her onto the defensive. It's a pretty good strategy..."

McCarthy: "Which means there's no way Weirdo and his so-called brain trust came up with it..."

O'Dell: "Well, wherever the idea came from, the plan's working. Swan aggressive, able to dictate tempo. Wagner able to respond in spots, but there's no question who's in control."

Tess: "What does Wagner have to do here to turn this around, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Got to find a way to slow Swan down and get her out of rhythm. Right now, Serinda's calling the match."

O'Dell: "And she does so right to the final bell. End of the third, and another good round for Swan."

McCarthy: "Wagner digging herself a hole on the cards. I have it 30-26. It's still early, but Wagner doesn't want to fall any further behind."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round underway and Swan right back and Wagner...and now Jill responding with a flurry of her own! Serinda a good one-two. Wagner right back with a straight left and a right hook!"

McCarthy: "This is one way for Jill to take Swan out of rhythm. It's dangerous, trading like this, but she's got to renegotiate terms."

O'Dell: "Wagner finding the range with a left-right. Swan digs body with a left hook, bangs a right to the side of the head. Wagner responds again..and now Swan hammering right back."

McCarthy: "Neither one going to give an inch! Great stuff!"

O'Dell: "And the fans loving it...AND SWAN ROCKS WAGNER WITH A THREE-PUNCH FLURRY! JILL WOBBLED AGAIN! Swan getting off with both hands now as Wagner covers up. Serinda hooking the ribs, then banging back against Wagner's high, tight guard!"

Tess: "Wagner may be lucky time is running out in the round..."

McCarthy: "No 'may be' about it.."

O'Dell: "And a TORRID combination from Swan staggers Wagner again at the bell!"

McCarthy: "That was a great action round. Swan, of course, won it with her late work..."

Tess: "And she now has a 40-35 lead. Wagner's hole just got deeper."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "We're into the fifth now, and Swan right back after Wagner, landing a good flurry, and, again Jill firing right back..."

McCarthy: "This is the direction Wagner has to go now. Got to trade with Swan. Too far behind to do anything else."

O'Dell: "Wagner giving as good as she gets..RIGHT HAND, WAGNER! AND SWAN STUMBLES BACKWARD!"

McCarthy: "NASTY right hook! And Wagner now following up, firing with both hands!"

O'Dell: "Roles completely reversed from last round! Swan covering up, backed into the ropes, as Wagner gets off with both hands. No much body stuff, concentrating upstairs, looking to take Swan out of here!"

Tess: "Another one of those rounds you're just trying to survive...especially with the big lead Swan has..."

O'Dell: "Wagner having it all her own way, slugging away as Swan covers up, throws the occasional jab, clinches, anything to run clock..and there's the bell. Fifth in the books, and Wagner on the board!"

McCarthy: "Check out the right that got her there. She takes a quick jab step forward and left. Swan steps back to her left...BAM! Right on the button. Give Swanny credit for staying upright."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Back to live action, and the two lovely brunettes back at it, banging away at one another right off the bell. Wagner head hunting, Swan upstairs and downstairs. No retreat in eithe girl. Flurries exchanged. The ladies move, reset, and exchange fire again."

McCarthy: "Give credit to Wagner here. She's changed the complexion of the fight by trading with Swan. Not usually what you want to do with a bigger girl, but Wagner needed to change tactics to have any chance in this one."

Tess: "You know, we talked about Swan being a big light, and we talked earlier about Jamie Lynn Spears being a big fly. Seems to me that Front Street favors girls who are big for the weight..."

McCarthy: "Well, knowing The Weirdo, who's as dense as lead, it's probably just coincidence, but you have a point..."

Tess: "Spears isn't the only big fly Wiz has. Stewart is big for the weight, and Seyfried walks around at 115 or so. At bantam, Mack's normally about 116, but Dennings has to work to make the weight, Jewel is down from light, Nicole's right on 120, Pink walks around at 125, Park''s almost six feet tall, and Britney and Neve, well..."

McCarthy: "They've got to RIG THE SCALES for CAMPBELL to make 120! The last time she saw THAT weight was ten years ago!"

Tess: "And Swan's one of the stable's smaller lights. She, Torv, and Arterton all fight a pound or three under the limit. Perry's right on it. Ke$ha, Decker and Ruah all walk around welter..."

McCarthy: "Maybe The Weirdo is actually doing something smart and COPYING what Sceej and Mac The Knife did when I came to Sceej Boxing! I dropped from lightweight, where a lot of girls were bigger than me, to bantam, where no one has the combination of power, speed, and skills that Mac The Knife brings to the table!"

O'Dell: "Before Jenny dislocates a shoulder patting herself on the back, let's get back to the action. Wagner off her front foot banging away at Swan. Serinda firing right back, hooking body with the left, following up to the head with the right."

McCarthy: "Wagner a bit more effective right now, Jenny. It's good back and forth stuff, but it's Wagner who's landing more and cleaner shots."

O'Dell: "Ferocious exchanges all over the ring. Another great action round between two well-matched brunettes! And another good back-and-forth at the bell! Fans letting the ladies know they're enjoying this as the combatants head back to their corners!"

Tess: "Exciting round, Mac, and I agree that Wagner got the better of it."

McCarthy: "Close enough you wouldn't want to be counting on it, but I gave it to Jill and have Swan up 58-55 now. Wagner creeping back in."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "We're into the seventh now, and Wagner starts it with a CLEAN combination that got Swan's attention. Serinda jabbing back, but Wagner lands a good left-right that sends sweat flying!"

McCarthy: "Wagner squaring up Swan now. She's gotten in rhythm and gotten Serinda out of it..."

O'Dell: "AND SHE STAGGERS SWAN WITH A RIGHT HAND! Set it up with a double tap jab! Wagner landing the left, now going body with the right. Swan unsteady as Jill fires up the pressure!"

McCarthy: "Wagner not particularly looking for a finisher right now. Just continuing to work both hands..."

O'Dell: "And she staggers Swan again! It was a left hook off a straight right that time! Swan wobbly, covering up...ANOTHER FLURRY BY WAGNER and Swan nearly goes down!"

McCarthy: "Swan reeling! Wagner just lighting it up! Don't often see a fight swing this completely!"

O'Dell: "Wagner finding the mark with a straight left. Another. A third. Swan with a high guard, doing well to stay on her feet as the bell rings ending the seventh!"

McCarthy: "Great round for Wagner. She's right back in the fight."

Tess: "67-65 Serinda with three to go."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Into the eighth now and Wagner right back at Swan, landing hard shots and driving Serinda backward!"

McCarthy: "Swan not recovered from that last round and Wagner knows it. She's walking Serinda down and going to work on her!"

O'Dell: "Swan getting hit clean with just about everything. Wagner just locked on with both hands. Serinda covering up along the ropes, trying to counter, but eating right hands in response."

Tess: "Referee has to watch this closely, Mac. Swan's in trouble here."

McCarthy: "He's got an eye on her. Wagner's just beating the hell out of her on the ropes!"

O'Dell: "Swan trying to hang on, looks like she might be going out on her feet. Covering up and clinching, but Wagner punching free. Good right snaps back Swan's head. Wagner digs body to try to bring the guard down..."

McCarthy: "Referee isn't going to allow much more of this..."

O'Dell: "Not sure what's holding Swan up, and neither is Wagner. Jill with another snapping combination. Referee poised to jump in...but there's the bell!"

McCarthy: "Not sure it matters. Don't know if Swan's going to get off her stool after that."

Tess: "If she does, she's still ahead, but the lead is down to a single point, 76-75."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Ninth round getting underway and Wagner absolutely IS looking for the finisher now...BUT SWAN ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT-LEFT!"

McCarthy: "Still some fight left in Serinda!"

O'Dell: "Certainly is, because she's taking it to Wagner. Now it's Swan locked in, landing with both hands. Wagner in retreat, covering up, getting hit clean..."

Tess: "You know, ladies, this has been one HECK of a fight..."

McCarthy: "Not surprised, two good, evenly matched fighters."

O'Dell: "Serinda working off the left now, picking off Wagner with it, going back to the body with the right..."

McCarthy: "RIGHT HAND COUNTER, WAGNER!"

O'Dell: "And SWAN staggered..."

Tess: "You know, ladies, this has been one HECK of a ROUND..."

O'Dell: "And Wagner going to work now, rocking Swan backward. Serinda reeling, forced into the ropes, covering up. Wagner snaps the head back with a nasty right...IT'S OVER! REFEREE HAS SEEN ENOUGH! HE'S WAIVING IT OFF, AND THE WINNER BY TKO9 IS JILL WAGNER!"

Tess: "Even YOU can't begrudge a hug right now, Mac. These two ladies put on a SHOW!"

McCarthy: "I STILL hate it..."

O'Dell: "But the two brunettes are doing it, with or without Mac's approval and both getting a little help back to their corners. No surprise, because that was a war, gang!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I've got our winner, Jill Wagner, and that was quite a hole you were in, Jill..."

Jill: "She was all over me in the early rounds. Really had me out of my game. My corner didn't want me to bang with her, but I had to do something to turn things around. It was a long way to come back, but I got there."

Tess: "Turned out to be a pretty good night for you..."

Jill: "It was a big win over a Top 20 fighter. I'll take it. And I'm going to take MORE like it."
