Before: Much anticipated clash between two hard-nosed, apex-predator type blondes--both women upbeat, confident in preflight. “I think I’m hungrier than Gena,” says Jenny at the podium, “I want this so much it hurts. I would have fought Nolin at welter, just to beat her, but to face her for the lightweight straps makes this one of the biggest fights of my career. I will not accept losing--this is MY moment, not hers. I’m simply coming into that ring to take away Gena’s belts, end of story.”

Nolin smirking, looking much the bigger beauty 7 weeks out fro the contest, “I got a good long look at what Jenny’s got when she fought Taylor Cole,” Gena confides, :and I saw that she’s already starting to slip. That’s right-I’m saying jenny’s shot--I think she was shot after Landry, but it’s only starting to really show right now. Cole exposed this girl, and I’m going to finish her. Jenny O’Dell won’t go the distance with me, and when I’m finished, she won’t be a premiere threat to anyone, ever again.” Jenny in black bikini, silver belly chain, white gloves: Gena in scarlet bikini, gold belly chain, black gloves.

During R1: Creep-steppin’ Gena easing to her right, dangling that left hand, holding the right coked tight to her chest. O’Dell chin tucked, jabbing into Gena’s left shoulder, keeping right hand nice and high--wary of Nolin’s oily hooks-off-the-hip. Gena establishes that sweeping right hand to the pit of Jenny’s stomach--catching O’Dell as she comes in: Jenny grunting, frowning, cramping up as she feels the strength of Nolin early, Final minute, Nolin putting the hook on top after depositing right hand to breadbasket: JENNY’S SHOOK! O’Dell visibly wobbled, sent reeling to her left--Nolin grinning, walking Jenny down and lobbing some muscular right roundhouses in against Jenn’s left flank at the bell.

R2: Gena still supple--creeping around flat-footed, bending at the waist, dangling the left hand but lifting it up to paw her jab at Jenny. O’Dell’s brow furrowed in concentration--she wants to press, but she’s taking Gena’s right hand too flush in the midriff--Jenny trying to improvise a solution on the spot. Nolin stepping counterclockwise, pawing the jab, pawing the jab--midway through she leans in sudden, dropping a glorious right cross against Jenny’s chin, swiveling the challenger’s head and O’DELL GOES DOWN! Jenny caught staring, dropped to her back in a thunderclap--Nolin lifts her mitts, stomping to a neutral corner all full of herself as ragged Jenny struggles up off her butt, Blinking 8, Jenny--O’Dell frazzled, shaking her pretty head to clear it: Gena smirking, batting gloves together as she wades back in to finish. JENNY WON’T HAVE IT! O’Dell snarling, lowering her head and brawling off the ropes--she labels Gena a walking barrage of swinging lefts and rights, going back to the beach to deny Nolin a finishing run. GENA GOES WOBBLY BUTT! Nolin hammered length of the ring, hitting far ropes in disarray--Jenny simply stepping-with and pasting champ as she staggers straight back. IT’S JENNY ON GENA! O’Dell piling on the hurt--Gena covering up face-in-gloves under sheets of Jenny leather--O’Dell switches emphasis to the waist as clock winds down, savaging Nolin some strapping rights and lefts at the bell. Gena’s eyes brimming with how-could-you tears and SHE CLOCKS JENNY LATE! O’Dell half turning away, hands down when Nolin’s hook claps her in the face--ref jumping in as girls start to brawl in overtime.

R3: Jenny strong off the canvas, blood up, eyes hard--she jabs her way into the taller woman, landing a sharp right cross to chin to back Nolin up at the open, Gena a little wide-eyed, trying to lope-back for room, then fetch Jenny that sweeping right to tummy coming in--but O’Dell’s rapid pursuit and jab spoiling the plan. Jenny finding an angle just outside Gena’s left shoulder, taking advantage of Nolin’s closed stance--Gene repeatedly having to back up and open up to keep from being flanked. Jenny attacking with right hand under her chin, left limber across her body--she’s getting vicious, snap-snatching delivery on hooks whenever Nolin sits in the ropes peek-a-boo--Jenny’s glove spanking loudly off Gena’s midsection, then clouting her ear up top. Nolin grimacing, getting a little grabby--ref warning Gena about holding, pulling Jenny’s head down and the like as Nolin spends much of the round against the ropes.

R4: Jenny’s brisk, frisky jab disrupting Gena--Nolin shying away from poke, only to get caught that right cross as she backs straight up--then she’s floundering in the ropes again with jenny pressing her body attack home. O’Dell visibly smaller, but tireless and constantly working on Gena--fighting off big-girl’s chest, pinning her against the ropes and ripping away to torso. Jen getting licking leverage on hooks from the left plant-leg--snapping mitts off meat, snatching first at Gena’s ribs, then doubling to ear as Nolin groans forward. Jenny’s right hands short, gouging up under Gena’s left breast: Nolin almost always clinching after soaking that punch, legs trembling from the hurt of it/ Gena landing her own surprisingly tidy right hand inside, just curling it across jenny’s mouth, or pulling Jen’s head down with the left hand while clipping her the right uppie. Ref barking repeated warnings to Gena, pulling her left arm away from the back of Jenny’s neck--O’Dell doing a good job keeping hands free, piling up the touches on Gena’s body through .

R5: Gena backing to the ropes, looking distressed: Jenny just pouring through, ripping hungry punches at the Nolin midsection. O’Dell jabbing Gena upright against the cables, then burying a right hand o stomach, then rip-snatching that tasty hook body/head: Nolin groaning forward behind her mitts, then leaning back, starting to break down. Solid minute of Jenny working Gena over: Nolin dips her left shoulder, licks a snappy hook off Jenny’s trunks to bunch O’Dell up on the spot. Ref immediately in--pushing Gena back, barking warnings and giving O’Dell a moment to recover: Jenny both hands on top rope, breathing in pained gasps, but it’s Gena who benefits from the break. Rest of the round fairly even--Jenny jabbing her way in, but bogging down in Gena’s strong clinches: Nolin re-establishing the big right hand to the pit of the paunch to loosen Jenny’s legs the more.

R6: Jenny jabs Gena to ropes, gets on her: Nolin having trouble with thr sheer pace of the smaller blonde. Oh that body work--Jenny VERY determined down there tonight--punches snapping off Gena as O’Dell puts her back and hips into the blows. Doubled-up hook off the body catching Gena’s jaw, jerking her head aside--Nolin grimly eating the punches, starting to get out-pitched 3 and 4 to one Gena trying to clinch, but Jenny’s using tuff shoulder bumps in the teeth or an aggressive short right uppercut inside to brusg Gena back--Nolin just sitting in the ropes for the most part, sponging up a beat down, Down the stretch, Jenny popping hips-right, lands a series of withering, Sugar Ray Leonard hooks across Gena’s midsection: Nolin cries out, reaching around Jenny’s shoulders in desperate clinch. Jenny pushing and writhing to get more Gena at the bell: Nolin sniveling, body and legs threatening mutiny. “No choice, Gena!” Jenny shouts as she disengages at the break, eyes blazing.

R7: Jenny’s got Gena stumbling downhill--O’Dell slashing in behind jabs and right crosses, then punishing Nolin hammer and tongs at the ropes. O’Dell’s eyes pitiless--so hard, unflinching: Jenny’s focus unnerving to those at ringside who can see it close up. Nolin moping--face-in-gloves, turning either side into the ropes: O’Dell given carte blanche to plant her feet and strap away at the big beauty before her. Nolin thick and heavy against the ropes, soaking it up, then weepily reaching for Jenny’s head and arm, pulling the blonde in for breathless clinches. Ref’s breaking this up, pushing Jenny back: she’s all bright-eyed, upbeat, pouncing back in as sullen Gena covers up.

R8: Gena proving big-girl resilient--she’s shipped a shellacking so far, but meets Jenny midring and initiates the hardest two-way slugging of the fight. Meat and potatoes fighting here--girls operating a close range, plying each other with clubbing, shortened up strokes. Gentle counterclockwise rotation as natural slugging action moves women around--both just focused on getting off, keeping elbows in tight, keeping hands up. Brisk, meaty spank sounding out--both girls touching the body, then going to the head--both giving and taking at workmanlike pace. Jenny getting hit more and more better shots now--her nose is bloodied from repeatedly little right uppercuts inside--but all that bodywork’s taken the KO edge off Gena’s punching. Both girls doing withering, accumulated damage to the other this round, but neither muscling up for any one punch in particular. Gena warned for elbow-strikes against Jenny’s body--Nolin getting them by throwing tight uppercuts, but looking for elbow-tip contact all the way. Gena warned for late right hand that grazes Jenny’s mouth after the bell: smoldering glare from O’Dell as ref intervenes.

\

R9: Grim battle of attrition continues as Gena continues to stabilize her front, meeting Jenny midring and refusing to be packed into ropes. O’Dell pushing her head in between Gena’s mitts, fighting off Nolin’s chest: Jenny feeling relatively safe as long as Nolin can’t extend on punches. Gena testing the theory by tightening up very nicely on shots at close range--girls occasionally going mouth-on-shoulder with each other and Gena giving every bit as good as she’s getting. Jenny’s snap-snatching hook the darling of her offense--when she bites it to Gena’s paunch, ribs or jaw, Nolin hurts. Gena’s best work getting done by a short clipping right uppercut--especially whenever Jenny leans in on Gena’s left shoulder: Nolin just picking her foe’s face up at will. Gena also taking Jenny’s breath away with as much forearm as glove. Bell: Gena tries another cheap, late right hand, just missing as Jenny leans back--ref has to body a seething O’Dell back to enforce the break.

R10: Damp blonde skulls rubbing; broad, tanned shoulder bumping; strong arms reaching in and writhing for position--this is thick work inside. Gena wrapping up, muscling jenny around, pushing the smaller blonde off her stance at times--jenny answering back with busy punches, keeping a steady biting stream of hooks at work against tummy, ribs, and chin. Nolin fitting close-in, shoving punches up into Jenny’s bulging rack, starting to make inroads: O’Dell giving ground, eyes moistening up as Gena bludgeons the no9st underrated mounds in Hollywood. No-frills Gena here--she’s just being big, getting her body on Jenny, walking her around, clubbing and mauling her; O’Dell just as useful, snatching back at her opponent’s torso, making Nolin work every second of the round. Goes to the cards, comes back UD10 for the winner…and NEW lightweight champ--JENNY O’DELL!

After: Jenny covering her mouth with her hands, busting into beauty-pageant tears as Charisma Carpenter folds her into a congratulatory hug: so many years of struggle, so many title frustrations and setbacks--Jenny O’Dell finally delivers on boxing’s biggest stage. Nolin blinking back tears--body all torn up, face puffy--she firmed late, but wasn’t able to turn back the BSE tide tonight. “Oh god,” Jenny blubbers happily as cameras train upon her, “this it--this is the best--I can’t even tell you what I’m feeling now,” Wipes her eyes, composes herself. “Gena has to lose so much weight in between fights, we knew we ha d to kill her to the body--her biggest weakness is stamina at lightweight. I trained for a long fight--I knew I had to be a lot busier than I might normally be for this fight, because the goal was to wear Gena out, I thought MAYBE I could stop her early, but there was no way--she just soaks up punches so well, it’s very hard for a natural lightweight t get her out of there. I just want to thank everybody--my stablemates, my management--everyone who stuck with me, everyone who believed I( could make it off the beach. Beating Taylor and Gena back to back has me over the moon guys--truly,”
