Gemma Bissix is unbeaten for the past year, although she has been cruelly underused, and will welcome the chance to fight the much vaunted Imogen Thomas, who was undefeated until she lost on points to Alesha Dixon in a very tough and close fight.

The girls look keen to get on with the action as they enter the ring, with Gemma in a navy blue bikini and Imogen in her scarlet bra and panties, with white edging.

Round 1

Surprisingly, both girls start off in well-disciplined manner, each of them content to wait for openings. Imogen cracks first, slipping into Gemma with a burst of right handers, but Gemma almost grins as she hits back, thumping the model with hard, short-armed punches to the jaw, then she gets into her body and moves her around a little. Imogen isn’t fazed, and she attacks again, this time landing a good right hook to Gemma’s face, but the actress quickly knocks her back again and is in control at the bell, taking the opening round.

Round 2

Imogen steps up the pace right from the bell, and is straight in Gemma’s face, thudding right hands straight into her mouth, and left hands into her body, and it’s a shocked Gemma Bissix who has to back off, and she then gets caught with a crisp right hook that has her shuddering. Gemma is able to clinch, trapping Imogen, and she gets some good work into the model’s body, but once they are parted, Imogen’s aggression takes over and she takes the round with a few more impressive right hands near the end.

Round 3

Again Imogen is keen to attack Gemma with a swift two-fisted attack, but the wily blonde does well, and withstands the early pressure, clinching and making life difficult for the model, getting to her inside again, pushing her backwards and trying to bully her. Imogen is trapped on the ropes again and again, with Gemma taking her to the body, and she even starts on her face as the round draws to a close, landing a couple of neat left hands, and, despite getting tagged with Imogen’s right hook in the closing seconds, Gemma has taken the round.

Round 4

The fight continues to see-saw, with Imogen’s aggression now popping Gemma around the ring, and she makes the actress swap punches in the centre of the ring, which is not what the blonde wants, and she finds herself eating the model’s gloves as Imogen thumps her face hard. Gemma’s trying to clinch, but she gets hurt with a left to the body, and loses her shape momentarily, then gets caught with a right to the jaw, and is staggered, gets propped up a little as she’s backed into the ropes, and gets cuffed with a left, right combo, then a chopping left which opens up a cut over her right eye, and the bell sees Gemma stumble to her corner, well beaten in that round.

Round 5

Imogen’s swift to take advantage of Gemma’s discomfort, and she’s soon got that cut opening up again, then finds Bissix’s body an easy target, ripping into her with both hands, and making the actress gasp a little. It’s rare to see Gemma take punishment, but Imogen’s got her going now, and she wipes a left hand across her mouth, follows up with a right, and that puts Gemma on her backside, the blood-streaked girl looking up as Imogen pumps her arms with glee. An Angry Gemma is on her feet at 6, and she takes the fight to Imogen, launches a savage attack herself, but it’s all a little aimless, and the suddenly cool model just picks her off, and Gemma is lucky to surive the round when a snappy right hook drills into her jaw in the closing seconds.

Round 6

Gemma’s right eye is a mess, and she just doesn’t see the left hooks coming her way as the girls resume hostilities, and she is back on the canvas, rises, but she’s turned to jelly, and the referee decides she’s had enough – it’s over!

That was a tough fight for Gemma tonight, but she can have no complaints, and Imogen Thomas will get a well deserved title shot.
