Erica Cerra makes her second defence of her title, and she’s taking on the only British girl to be involved in tonight’s title fights. Billie’s a little younger than Erica, and really quite experienced, and is promising to give the Canadian a hard workout tonight.

Billie enters the ring first, and she’s looking typically hot in a scarlet bar and panties set. Erica just smoulders in her grey and black bikini, confident in her ability, not arrogant.

Round 1

The bantams stalk one another at first, then thyey exchange jabs, both girls appearing correct, orthodox in their manner tonight, not wanting to reveal too much too soon. Erica lands a neat jab, the Billie does the same. Billie comes in close and works at Erica’s body, Erica defends, the does the same. The girls are showing respect for each other, but maybe too much at this stage, until suddenly Billie erupts, takes Erica by surprise, and stings her with a right hook, then jabs her with a left, rocks her backwards, sinks a right into her body, and Erica’s on her knees, clearly hurt by that bodyshot, and struggling up at 6. There’s very little time left in the round, and Erica keeps Billie at bay, but now she knows the girl from Swindon can punch.

Round 2

The mutual respect is over, and the girls come out throwing punches, with Billie connecting early to Erica’s jaw with her right hook, putting the Canadian into the ropes, and she comes in to work on her there. Erica’s not having it though, and she hits Billie hard with two left hands to the mouth, then spots an opening, crashes her right cross through it, and sends Billie to the canvas, where she gets a 7 count. Billie looks a tad unsteady when she resumes, and Erica’s quickly on her, ripping some good blows into her body, exposing her to some hard left hooks, almost forcing the Brit to drop her arms, then there’s that right hand again, and Billie can’t take it – she’s down for a second time, bloodied and untidy on the canvas, and up at 8, just in time to hear the bell.

Round 3

Billie may be ripe for finishing now, but Erica’s not going to rush in like a novice and get tagged, and she goes back to basics, working Billie hard around the ring, dominating her with good punches to the body, then sweeping just an occasional hook across Billie’s face to make sure she knows who’s in charge. Those knockdowns have taken the stuffing out of Piper, and she’s not looking like fighting back just yet, perhaps keeping out of range, and she’s uncharacteristically defensive, wary of Cerra’s right hand, and happy to clinch and hold while she reassesses the fight, apart form the last few seconds of the round, when she thuds a left hand into the Canadian’s mouth, giving her something to think about during the break.

Round 4

Erica has thought, and she doesn’t like being hit in the mouth! She wades into Billie with some hard body punches, and she shakes her with a good left to the face which draws blood from an already leaking nose. Biliie backs off, trying to draw Erica into a brawl when the champ follows in, and the girls swap body punches at close quarters, with Erica taking more punches than Billie, then standing off to crack the Brit’s face with two, three right hand shots, and she seems to have her in trouble again. Piper recovers from taking a little pasting on the ropes, hits Cerra in the ribs and flanks, but then gets picked off again as Erica times a left hook to her cheek which is almost sweet enough to drop her, and the bell sees Billie looking shaky once more.

Round 5

Billie has not fully recovered from that late shot she took in the fourth, and she’s making some rash lunges at Erica now, charging in, not bothering about defence, and Cerra almost lets her do it, standing off swaying and gripping the blonde, taking very few of the girl’s poorly directed punches, and letting her run out of steam. It doesn’t take long either, and a gasping Billie is soon getting sent back into the ropes when Erica gives her a swift one-two, the Canadian resisting the urge to follow in, lets Billie come off the ropes of her own free will, waits for her to drift into range, then takes her out with a left hook, right cross combo to the face which ends Billie’s painful evening for her.

Erica Cerra knocked Billie Piper out in round 5 to retain the BBU bantamweight title.

In the end this looked a routine victory for Erica, but she had to dig deep to recover from that opening round knockdown, and maybe Billie got a little over excited.
