Before: Charlize on Denise: “She’s a cute kid, real honest fighter. People are discounting her, but Richards can fight, she beat good girls to get here. I’d rank her right up there with good brunette journeywomen like Cat bell and Charisma Carpenter--tough, solid pros until you figure them out. I know I’ll get to her, test her tonight, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her go the distance.” Richards with the big chip on shoulder coming in, odds against her potentially one of the biggest upsets in history if she can pull this off. Charlize in cream bikini, Denise in electric blue, wet curls.

During R1: Denise with the high guard, jerky upper body movements as she dips, trying to edge in on Theron. Charlize loose and limber, hands low as she glides to her left, reaching the jab off her stomach to pat hard against the brunette’s face. Theron circling, controlling matters in the first both girls tasking a look.

R2: Good aggression from Denise. Time and again she lunges in on Theron’s jab, ramming home solid rights to the jaw as the tall blonde leans back. Theron unhurt, but she lets the round slip by without making Denise pay for these opportunistic hacks. Round to Richards.

R3: Charlize slowing the tempo, hands low, still sliding to her left, poking the right hand as she keeps her weight on that front foot. Denise attempts to lunge and Charlize times her perfectly, shifting onto her back foot, clipping a short rising left to catch oncoming brunette chin and DENISE GOES DOWN! Theron striding calmly to a neutral corner as Richards shakes her head on all fours. D up at 8, steps forward on wandering feet--Theron goes to work, licking jabs pancake the breasts, then crack against the lips of Denise as Theron steps left, then bends into slinging right hand, laying over on her left side as Richards’ legs bend then stiffen. Brutal stuff: Charlize just ripping harsh left/rights to the head as Denise holds her fists up in front of her face--blonde combinations clubbing brunette from one foot to the other. D takes it to the bell, but she’s staggering badly en route to her corner as Charlize dishes out serious hammer this round.

R4: D with some nice head movement, dips to her right to slip that jab, comes over the top with a slicing right hand on the teeth that claps Charlize’s mouthpiece off her teeth. THERON IS HURT! Charlize’s long legs quivering then recovering as she stares, steps away. Denise diving in on the chin with lunging right hands, continues to catch Theron pulling back--harkening back to days of yore when right hands were Charlize’s nemesis. Midway through, Theron re-establishes order, licking her fists up in slashing arcs, answering back with flashy side to side swatting that has Denise taking to her chest and face. Down the stretch, Charlize laying the left out again, stepping to her right--blonde thinks shes out of range and Denise bends in to land another crashing right on the jaw. Charlize’s head snaps hard to the side and she wobbles slightly as she stumbles to the ropes. Bell sounds and a jubilant Denise Richards nods her head savagely--she sends Charlize back to her corner glassy-eyed, slightly dazed this round.

R5: Theron back on her toes, now spearing in the jab to bash back Richards’ head. Theron leaning in on that front foot, snapping hard, short hooks to the ear and jaw, then pivoting to her left, turning Denise around the ring. Richards outclassed, but she’s not discouraged, she’s staying square, keeping her gloves high, keeping her jab in Charlize’s chest to measure her for right hands.

R6: Theron circling left, backhanding the jab to the belly, then cuffing ear with the left hook upstairs as she glides left. Midway through, Denise crouching, moving her head, rockets back with another lunging right hand, bashing Theron’s pretty face to the side yet again and CHARLIZE IS HURT! Theron hanging on, pulling Denise’s head down as the brunette tries to pile on--Charlize smothering and tugging her way out of trouble. Down the stretch, Charlize is back in command, steering her girl around the ring, but crowd loving the effort from Denise, Richards swelling up badly around thebe yes, but Theron showing a nice glossy shine along the left side of her face00it;s a fight ladies and gentlemen.

R7: Denise wins her first back to back rounds, hounding Charlize into the ropes, churning and brawling, hitting the blonde with the sides of her gloves, elbows, and the occasional fist. Theron remaining calm, tieing up her challenger, leaning back into the ropes, but she’s getting outworked, looking too defensive for the judges’ taste.

R8: Theron pumps up the class, shuts her girl out this round. Theron easy on her front foot, sniping lead rights into the right breast, poking the jab, then as Denise tries to answer, Charlize shifts to her back foot, picking Richards up with vicious short left hooks on the jaw, Theron snapping her fist back to her chest as she rips these blows in, then pivots around her girl to keep D turning. Tell-tale wobble in Richards’ trunks as she stumbles to her corner at the bell--Theron took something out of the brunette this round.

R9: Denise looking shopworn, legs unsteady--she comes out bombing right hands, but Theron has the tempo now--she’s turning away from these punches, peeling off to her left and starting to make Richards pat for overextending. Midway through, Charlize sidesteps a Richards right hand, jams a counter right in over D’s right shoulder and sends Richards to all fours for a lightning knockdown. D up at 8, lashes fluttering, mouth open, and Charlize moves in for the kill,. Crowd squealing in delight as Theron lets her hands go--a flashy rolling combination, starting in Richards belly, churning up through the breasts to finish with a clocking left hook across the teeth that jerks the brunette sideways. D in full retreat--a spearing right hand lead drapes her on the ropes, and once again, Theron flurries to the belly, coming upstairs with the vicious, biting left hook on the face. Bell sounds--Richards seated ropeside in a sorry state--Theron waving the ref in to stop the fight, but instead he ushers blonde back to her corner.

R10: Minutes long argument with the ref in Theron’s corner as she and her trainer beg the man to stop the fight. Denise being revived, but she’s battered beyond recognition, surviving a torrent of Charlize’s hardest punches last round. At the bell, Charlize comes out determined to end things as quickly as possible, A few pesky jabs herd a stupefied Denise to the ropes, then that sudden, erupting burst of rolling lefts and rights to the belly draws the dazed brunette forward over her legs. Charlize now standing up straight, getting her legs into the snapping hook, bringing her fist hard to her chest on follow through, then jerking it in again on the jaw as Denise swoons forward. Finally, Richards sprawls on the canvas, slumbering on her belly as Charlize struts away the KO10 victor.

After: Charlize showing her class, visiting Denise on her stool in the aftermath when many others would be hoisting the battered brunette around for aw alk, graduation day for Denise--she brought it tonight and nobody will ever be able to take away that glorious 4^th round in which she had Theron reeling from hard right hands. Richards brilliant in defeat, proves her recent streak was no fluke and emerges from the loss of a better fighter. Theron once again digging down and finding an extra gear to go to--fright even for 7, but Theron took over in the championship rounds to finish big. “I told everyone Denise shouldn’t be taken lightly,” says a bruised and dishelmed champion in post fight, “she would have beaten a lot of champions tonight.”
