TESS VALMORE

CARLSON/ DOBREV. This was a great fight to open the card. Dobrev was ahead at the end of five. In the sixth, Carlson decked Dobrev twice. Somehow, Nina came back to take the seventh. It was anyone’s fight going into the final round. Dobrev came on strong putting Carlson on the canvas, and that was enough to get her the decision

VANDERVOORT/ PERABO Another good fight. Vandervoort opened well, winning the first four rounds. Perabo then came back to take the next three. Laura gained the advantage in the eighth and followed up in the ninth and tenth. In the final round, a series of buggywhip sidearms to the body set Piper up for some chin checking that left Perabo helpless and the fight was stopped

CUCUO/ SWANEPOEL I thought Kaley was going to win this fight in the first round as she decked the model. Then I thought she had the fight won in the fourth and again in the sixth, but Swanepoel hung in there. She came to floor to Cucuo in the seventh and had Kaley hurt in the tenth, but couldn’t finish and the decision went to Cucuo

PRESSLY/ ACCOLA, I guess you can call this a major upset. Accola shouldn’t have beaten Pressly once much less twice, but she did. Candice decked Pressly in the first and Pressly returned the favor in the third. Jamie did well in the middle rounds although she missed finishing Accola. Accola then came on strong to take the sixth through ninth rounds. Pressly made a finishing run in the tenth, but it was too little. Accola got the decision. Her stock in the bantam is going to soar and Pressly’s is going to plunge

SILK/ DENNINGS I didn’t know anything about Silk coming into this bout. I know more now. It was a good even fight most of the way, but I think the handwriting was on the wall at the end of the fourth, when Denning was “out of gas” At the beginning of the seventh, was exhausted and Silk simply pounded her down to the canvas for a KO win

FREEMAN/ BROOK There is nothing I would rather see than a Jeri’s fighter get the stuffing beat out of her. That’s exactly what happened to Brook. She didn’t win a round while serving as a Freeman punching bag. It got so bad in the sixth that the referee wisely stopped the fight.

HOLMES/ HEARD. This was a crowd pleasing fight. One that was close all the way. it was so close that the judges couldn’t make of their minds and called it a draw. It was agreed that the fight would go into extra innings with the first to win two consecutive rounds being the winner. It didn’t go two rounds. In the eleventh a right hook put Holmes down for the count.

BECKINSALE/ McCARTHY As everyone knows Jenny is one of my Asylum broadcast partners, That being said, the performance of Miss Beckinsale was totally disgusting. She fouled in all four rounds the fight lasted. This was not a fair fight. . Beckinsale used her fouls to totally dismantle Jenny. After she got the ill deserved fourth round TKO, her post fight antics were deplorable. I trust the FCBA will review this fight and the aftermath and take the proper action

MICHALKA/ McADAMS Another of the great fights on this card. Michalka came close to winning this fight in the first round, when she put McAdams on the canvas twice. Rachel came back to deck her opponent in the second. After that, all the rounds were close. When it came down to the decision, it was five rounds a piece but the two knockdown first gave Michalka the decision

JOHANNSON/ CHABERT Another Jeri’s fighter I would hope would lose. She didn’t. Johannson had the lead through three. Chabert took the fourth and then proceeded to give Johansson a beating in the fourth and fifth. In the sixth, Chabert poured on the punishment until Johannson went down for the count. I must say I was surprised when we didn’t see the usual Jeri’s humiliation routine

STONE/ LOHAN Like I said in the predictions, I had no interest in this fight. Actually, I have no interest in anything Lohan does. I did think she would win. I was down in the bar discussing the current interest rate on Spanish government bonds, when somebody said the fight was over and Stone had won by a KO.

PORTMAN/ K. BELL I was surprised the way this fight went. I thought Portman would win, but the fight did not go the way I anticipated. Bell won six of the first eight rounds including flooring Portman twice in the seventh. Portman staged a mild comeback in the last two rounds, but it wasn’t nearly enough. She needed a KO and didn’t come close. Bell got the decision. The loss deals a blow to Portman’s Hall Of Fame ambitions

BIEL/ PEREGRYM We are now deep into the card with a couple more fights to go, but this has to be the fight of the night and a lightweight fight of year contender. Brutal, right down the the final punch. Forget about decision. this wasn’t going to go that way. Peregrym was down twice in the second. Biel went down third and again in the fourth. Biel was down again in the sixth. Peregrym kissed the canvas in the seventh. The ninth round could be a round of the year contender. Brutal slugging, both hurt, but Biel got the better of it and Missy went down for the count. What a fight.

CARTER/ MILLER The first of the three title fights on the card. It promised to be a good bout. It wasn’t, Miller should have stayed home. Carter toyed with her for the first two rounds. In the third, Carter used a body attack to set up a right that had Miller out and the referee stepped in to save Miller from further punishment.

HELFER/ COLE Not quite classic Helfer. She is known as one of the finest boxers in the lightweights, if not the best. In this fight Cole was ahead on points at the end of five. Then, Helfer the puncher took over. She dominated the rest of the fight. She put Cole on the canvas in the seventh and administered a beating until a right to the sternum in the ninth, put Cole on the canvas for the count. A fine performance from the champ

RIGHETTI/ THERON. Did you ever wonder how crow tastes. I am about to find out. I really don’t want to talk about this fight, but I have to. Charlize is our favorite, but I said she had no chance to beat Righetti. Few fighters do. For the first three rounds it looked like Righetti would put her away. It didn’t happen, and then the wrong one got put away. That right to the stomach hurt me and I was in the press section. I don’t think the fight was stopped too early. Righetti was finished. Now Fred is probably turning purple over my prediction. Smackey is probably smirking and enjoying my misery and it is going to be a long flight home. Don’t ask questions. I don’t want to talk about it
