(LIONESS CLUB VS BEEVER"S BABES)

BBU SUMMER MADNESS @ THE KO CLUB

Beever's Babes' Alesha Dixon is still trying to shrug off the nightmares which befell her after a horrendous loss to Mary Elizabeth Winstead back in March. The former BBU bantamweight champion enjoyed just two victories in eight fights this year and has set up a trip to Japan to take on some of the Asian fighters in order to her confidence back on the right track. However before she challenges the Front Street Japan members, she's accepted Melanie Brown's offer to fight in the KO Club during the Summer Madness event.

Brown's fellow stablemate Charlotte Church knocked Dixon out last month and obviously the former Spice Girl looks to follow suit, having defeated Natalie Bassingthwaighte in her only bout this year. In a pre-fight interview Dixon has told Denise van Outen that her dire period of results is over and knocking Melanie Brown out will serve as a fresh start to her career and with Lisa Maffia joining the bantams, there's a very interesting rivalry possible on the cards among the Black British contingent (not to mention the internal one among the Beever's Babes). The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Melanie Brown wearing a black bikini top, white mini-skirt and red gloves. Alesha Dixon wearing a bright green bikini top, blue denim mini-skirt and black gloves.

Round 1:
Mel's on the charge early, looking to bury her rival under a solid sequence of shots and she finds some success, catching the former champ in the midsection, but Alesha holds her ground, meances around the older woman's head and spikes her in the cheeks after a frantic opening minute of action. Both girls look for more aggression, they fire away with visible committement, but only single strikes connect with the flesh and it's turning into a chaotic punchfest with little efficiency towards the end of the round.

Round 2:
Dixon still unable to mount an intimidating attack, keeps throwing single shots before landing a solid combo to the chest, but Brown responds with a cross-hooking double on the face and Alesha wobbles back after being unable to cover up. Brown pummels her back to the ropes with a midsection sequence, but can't pinch her against the ropes and allows Dixon to leap to the side, out of the striking zone. Alesha circles back to center of the ring, blocks a chaotic attack from the older singer and counters with a jabbing combo to the ribcage which finally forces Brown back and ends the round in relative stalemate.

Round 3:
Brown steps up early, looks to close the distance but misses a hooking combo to the head and gets whacked in the ribs as Alesha finally opens up from both flanks, peppers the older woman in the midsection and backs her against the ropes with ease. Brown tries to duck to the side, but her footwork is no match to Dixon and the former champion bangs another series to the chest, splits the arms and finds the connecttion, really imposing her presence on Mel who just looks to get away from trouble. Alesha doesn't rush it though, keeps doing her job and has Brown running along the ropes before finally stepping away from danger. Mel looks to just survive the round as she found herself in a dangerous spot as Alesha began showing flashes of the former glory.

Round 4:
Alesha leaps after Brown and the older singer knows she's in trouble again; Dixon looks to have found her stride and keeps peppering Mel's midsection and avoiding her single-striking response. Couple of faked shots to the ribs are followed with a cracking cross-hook which splits Mel's guard and a left follow-up sends her flying to the ropes. Alesha with a quick leap, pounds the briefly stranded rival in the stomach and Brown winces in pain, hopes for a clinch but gets blasted across the chest and that knocks the win out of her! Right hook over the top nails her on the temple... DOWN GOES BROWN on her knees and shakes her head as the younger singer looks on with little sympathy... Mel gets up at five, looks shaken mentally more than physically but Dixon makes sure she doesn't catch a moment of respite, peppers her in the chest straight after the command, flicks a couple of shots to the head and Mel just sinks on the ropes, hopes for another survival and she gets it as the bell halts Alesha's overwhelming presence in the ring after a series of blows to the ribcage bend the older singer in half and add more salt to her wounds. Dixon begins to run riot and the KO Club audience is silent at the bell.

Round 5:
Melanie is still shaken by that knockdown, looks to bide her time along the ropes, but she's not quick enough to avoid Alesha from closing her in and picking up where she left off in the fourth. More blows to the body follow, Mel's response is outrageously futile as the younger singer easily weaves around it and pours with a sequence to the ribcage, sinks Brown on her knees again and the Spice Girl falls back on the ropes, covers up in despair as Alesha whacks her in the body with no resistance whatsover. Dixon with a peppering effort between the arms, breaks through to the chest, rocks the hapless foe with some hooks to the head and finally goes around the gloves to catch her on the ear. Mel moans in pain, bends forward and looks for a clinch, but Dixon steps back, counters with a right hook over the top, catches Brown in the nose... arms go numb and Alesha flicks an uppercut to the exposed chin... DOWN GOES BROWN for the second time tonight.. She's down on all fours and Dixon keeps it strictly business, struts back to her corner, allows the ref to do his job... Mel gets up at eight but she's really having a torrid time in the ring now and it's still a full minute left on the clock. Dixon pours in with a frantic charge, looks like she's had enough of tormenting the older singer and Brown just waits for the kill, falls back on the ropes, has nothing to offer and Alesha shatters her guard, bangs more hooks from both flanks and Mel turns to the side, hopes to protect her head from more punishment, but Alesha shows no mercy, whacks her in the ribs, another one on the tummy, left jab on the ear, Mel wraps her right arm around the rope and just wants this to end... Left jab on the jugs, right on the chin... ref charges in and it's quite frankly a little late as Brown crashes to her knees and bends her head across the canvas... Incredible display of vicious skill by the former champ and Mel hanged on as long as she could, but failed to make it past the half-distance... TKO R5 Alesha Dixon!!!

Post-fight:
In normal circumstances Melanie Brown was always destined to find it incredibly tough to defeat Alesha Dixon but with the ex-champ's dire period following the Mary Elizabeth Winstead fight, there was a chance the former Spice Girl scores the best win of her BBU career. However she came across Dixon a little too late and Alesha has recovered from that traumatic experience which probably spells trouble for her upcoming rivals. With Lisa Maffia now fighting at bantam, the prospects of her clash with Dixon are mouth-watering especially in wake of the only bout, back in the early days of BBU. As Denise van Outen kindly reminds the Barnet crowd during a post-fight interview with the winner, Lisa Maffia knocked Alesha Dixon in three rounds in November of 2010.

"You know, I always look for the toughest challenges.", a very happy Alesha tells the KO Club audience, "I clashed with the best and allthough I've suffered some bad losses earlier this year, I'm back to full fitness, both physically and mentally. I have some respect for Mel B, not much but some and I kinda exposed her tonight. She thought she was in for a easy scalp, but I pretty much destroyed her. Now I'm off to Japan but quite frankly I don't like the prospects of Lisa being a top Beever's Babes bantam girl. I need to restore the correct pecking order and Lisa, honey, you're playing second fiddle to me no matter what happens!"

Final result: Alesha Dixon def. Melanie Brown TKO5.
