Ann Curry's fortunes had plunged in recent times having been jetissoned from the 'TODAY' show on NBC. She was sitting quietly alone having a drink in a mid town Manhattan enjoying the solitude when who should sidle up to her but the current 'hot property' from Burn Notice Gabrielle Anwar. Anwar's star was rising at the moment compared to Ann's it went without saying. 'Say tough luck there lady' commented Anwar. 'What do you mean tough luck?' snarled Curry. 'I still have a position at NBC and they have great plans for me. 'Sure they do' laughed Anwar. 'Plans to send your ass deeper into the dumper until you disappear' continued Gabrielle. 'I wish to hell you'd disappear you annoying flea said Ann 'and just leave me the hell alone'. 'Sure I will there easy meat' chortled Gabrielle. 'I certainly would enjoy writing the epitaph on your fighting career though' were Gabrielle's attempted parting words. 'WAIT'said Curry who was now regaining her feet and composure. 'I do NEED to show people I'm back and whipping your sinewy butt would show plenty of folks that I mean business'. Ann was now up in Gabrielle's face. Several people saw the exchange and were beginning to murmur. Anwar reddened ever so slightly even though she had outclassed Ann in the ring several months back. Ann fired again 'I see where that little Ripa nailed your ass a couple of months back'. 'We'll just see who the MEAT is and whose ass will be marked with a sharpie once the fight ends' were Ann's next words. 'You got it' said Gabrielle. 'How about London at the Wembley?' 'Sold' concluded Curry.
The next month both gals train very hard. Curry has become soft from all the expense account lunches with NBC execs. Anwar is rock solid from her big bag sessions into the night on the Burn Notice set. Ann has Jamie Lee Curtis as her trainer. Anwar's is Jennie Agutter the hard nosed star from 'Logan's Run' many moons back now.
London is braced for this fight and the expectation is Anwar will crush Curry who is seen as vulnerable.
Fight Night- Both gals are now in the ring. Anwar is first and whips off her robe and is bedecked in an Orange bikini which shows off a stunning well toned bod for a 42 year old.Curry draws oohs and aahs with her trademark G string which displays fantastic sexy legs and a wickedly gorgeous ass. Thandie Newton is the ref this night. She is interested in fighting Anwar on her own. Both gals are soaked in sweat and Thandie gives them last minute instructions.
Round One- Anwar wades in deep and drills Curry hard with solid body work. Curry shoves her back and connects with an inside right hook that drives Anwar's head back. Sweat flies. Curry wants room to work and Anwar is determined to deny her that. Gabrielle is relying on faster foot speed. Anwar's hits Curry with a combo left/right/left to the head sending Ann stumbling backwards. The crowd loves this. They clinch again. Curry is thinking her superior upper body strength will do it for her. Both are at mid-ring letting it all hang out. Curry's shots buckle Anwar's legs and the English crowd is concerned for their girl. The bell rings as Curry slams Anwar once again to the jaw. Curry wins this round.
Round Two- Agutter is incensed with all the punishment Anwar is getting from the older gal. Curtis is exhorting Ann to make her mix it up more. Anwar is gliding around the ring looking to box more. She wants Curry on the chase. Ann senses this quickly. In Ann comes boring through Anwar's defenses to deliver more hard shots to the midriff of the smaller woman. Gabrielle grunts in some pain. 'Thought I was done did you smart ass' smirks Curry. Anwar is pushed off her game plan again and can't help wanting to slug it out with the Asian American beauty. Both are delivering wicked head shots and each has buckling legs as the crowd rises in appreciation for a truly spirited bout. The bell rings with Curry raising her gloves but the judges call it even.
Round three- 'My knockout round' gushes Curry to Curtis. 'Be careful Ann she's dangerous' warns Jamie Lee. The 'True Lies' hot shot is right. Anwar is firing scoring left jabs to Curry's head with telling accuracy. Her arms are holding up well and Curry is showing some signs of slowing down. Still, Ann can punch as she hammers Anwar with a sudden right hook/left cross combo to the jaw which sends the slender Anwar down on her ass to the astonishment of the London mob. Agutter is ballistic. 'Get up you stupid wench' roars Jennie over the crowd noise which is thunderous. Ann Curry will not be denied and she watches Newton count to 8 before Gabrielle is back up on shaky legs. 'Pursue her ass' screams Curtis. Her instructions are moot since Ann is on a vicious attack and is merciless in her continued whaling on Anwar's body and head. Gabrielle's left eye is closing from the right hooks Ann Curry has nailed her with. Both gals are showing fatigue and this is where it will count. The bell rings for the end of round three which Curry has won decisively.
Round Four- Curry has a second wind. Anwar is shuffling to Ann's right hoping to nullify that powerful left cross of Curry's. Anwar resumes her jabbing with that hard left she has. Curry's eyes are blousing up and her right one is shutting down. Anwar connects with a left hook that sends Curry into the ropes. Ann bounces off though and attacks with a vengeance. 'Easy Meat huh?' 'Still think so you little braggart dolt?' With those words Curry begins with a brutal right hook to the jaw of Anwar which sends her to mid ring and Gabby's eyes are glassy. She is looking to Agutter who gives her a 'you're on your own' gesture. Ann Curry is now connecting at will with unanswered left right combos to Anwar's jaw. Gabby's arms droop and Curry knows she has her gal beaten. 'You're the one tonight' is all Anwar can mutter as Ann Curry's left cross mashes into her battered and bruised face. Gabrielle Anwar stumbles backwards and FALLS to these final blows of Ann Curry's. The Burn Notice star is face down one the canvas as Thandie Newton counts to ten and then raises Ann Curry's victorious right hand. Curry is leaping all over the ring. The NBC suits in attendance know they have a 'Tiger Killer' babe in their employ and fete Ann with a great party later. Gabrielle Anwar arrives to congratulate Ann and even kiss her gently on the lips. 'We'll do it again sometime won't we?' says Gabrielle. 'Anytime you want' replies Curry 'and like I told you in the bar in New York leave me the hell alone'. Everyone laughs but Anwar who slinks out of the party a thoroughly beaten fighter with a very doubtful boxing future. |
